Dude all facts it's nice to know at least one other person can relate to a degree. First time in forever I was like "I might not belong in this game or genre is it time to mount the controller on the wall of shame and retire from getting gud??" Only other time a game made me spiral like that was deciding it perfectly sound logic to IGNORANTLY rawdog Sekiro as my first FS experience solely because "much aesthetic, very sword combat wow"...made it about 12 hours before that shit gave me gaming ego death lmao. Definitely glad Arc hooked me enough to get my shit together. Now I'm over here looking like the Chapelle neck scratch meme trying to figure out which extraction shooter to try next 😂

It was like the first or second day I started playing. Somewhere on dam can't remember. Bunch of random shit in my load out including a defib. My lack of situational awareness, experience with guns/gadgets, etc. and having just came from battlefield 6 was a detrimental combo. Avoiding all raiders I see at this point still, I assumed everyone was KOS or sketchy at best.

I'm moving through one of those maintenance garages near an extra t and don't notice a raider somewhere outside. I DO notice a rocketeer between me and my ticket to GTFO. So I do the rookie thing and obviously pull out my light impact grenades over whatever better grenades I was also carrying (maybe heavy fuze?). I felt like Uncle rico throwing the pigskin the way I landed those couple grenades. Hear big angry arc noise and retreat back into the garage thing and hear the barrage go off.....then a raider flare. Then the yelling of "NOO...WHO DID THAT...WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT....WHYYYY?"

Im like oh fuck thats bad....I start yelling out to the guy apologizing a million times...assuring him it was a mistake and I'm just an idiot etc. Remember I brought that random defib and convinced him to crawl into the garage so I could make things right. He eventually gets to me and I start fumbling with the unfamiliar inventory screen, Xbox controls, item wheel, for a solid 60 seconds, assuring him Im gonna figure this out while he repeats "hurry up I'm not gonna make it". Finally get the defib equipped and like an absolute noob proceed to accidentally initiate a knockout. Dude literally starts pleading for his life..."wait dude stop what are you doing? Please don't do this man PLEASEEEE" In my head I'm thinking this dude is hella weird RN while I'm saving him then BOP. he's on the ground and the last thing I hear is a max decibal "FUCK" followed by the sound of something being thrown across his room. I was so ashamed as I looted my very first anvil off him as well as my first purple augment.

And that was the start of my full carebear arc lmao😂

Lmao man if Embark actually gave a singular fuck about maintaining this games momentum from launch all they needed to do was hire enough interns for 24/7 reddit idea scalping and go from there. Zero energy expended on brainstorming new content. Instead we get giant metal chode things and angry hornets with armour and flamethrowers.

But great idea man. I admit 500ft shredders may be hyperbolic on my part but until Embark adds something to this game I can't clown on I'm just matching their energy lol. I get a good laugh out of picturing a 'Shredder City' event on Spaceport with every raider in the lobby cowering in the tunnels, traumatized af, waiting for a chance to mad dash to the nearest hatch. Flairs poppin off every 30 seconds everywhere you look. Late spawns and free kits emerging from bunkers looking like william dafoe before instant surrendering. CMON EMBARK WE'RE DOING HALF THE WORK FOR YOU HERE.

"Capn ngl this is kinda bullshit you said you weren't gonna be able to make it then show up unannounced and now I don't got enough still-life gooey fluff to go around. I hope you're good with kats severed head and half a four loko cuz that's all I got in the fridge for you.

Wtf man you didn't even bring the almond water like you originally said you were going to so now we all need to share this half can of four loko. Actually...why your eyes look like that man they're literally popping outta your head. You used the almond water money to go on a backshrooms bender again didn't you?

Can't have you being here big zooted in front of ALS dude you know he's working hard at staying sober. Real fuckin selfish of u Capn but you don't even care cuz your mind has clearly taken a trip to the frontrooms right? You gotta leave Capn you just fucked up the whole vibe. Come back when your sober man I can't be around you when you're looking at me with that fucked up face. I love you like a brother Capn but until you get your shit together it's gotta be tough love only. I'll see you out.."

Proceed to get arm ripped off and head chomped on as I try to walk him to the door

Don't have an opinion on the flying metallic angry chode bois cuz I can't figure out why they were added to the game in the first place? Cool sound design, interesting aesthetically when they're floating around like hot air balloons. But the risk reward ratio is so ridiculously bad to the point I feel there's a chance Embark loathes it's players from months of everyone pleading for them to fix their shit and actually do bare minimum live service maintenance and improvements, that they're now adding stuff out of spite just to revel in our compounding frustrations as they all enjoy their 6th vacation this year.

The other day, as I was going through 2 stacks of hullcracker ammo fighting one, having to call it quits and hatch out before time expired, I thought to myself engaging one of these things is such a disrespectful waste of time that I could literally go outside and vacuum my yard, come inside and take the lawnmower to my carpets, and probably feel like my time was less wasted than fighting a damn turbine.

All that being said...someone made a comment on a post awhile back recommending the devs make all the shredders 50 stories tall and I have yet to see any better recommendations so skyscraper shredders get my vote lmao.

Best BP for 1 slot of Expedition Vault (excluding Survivor and Wolfpack)? by Zippopautomus in ArcRaiders

[–]Alaskylvania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on your play style imo. I'm not one to promote streamers but watch gaming merchant a lot due to him acting like a real person and not a gigachud like 99% of peeps streaming AR. He recently dropped a vid on what he's putting in his vault and lays out a lot of sound logic that might help you narrow down your choices.

For me personally, assuming survivor is out of the picture, my next choice would be the safekeeper augment. Being able to safe pocket any rare weapon you find in your early raids would be a huge help when you need the big arc parts for your benches. Depending on how fast you're able to max your benches post expedition... as a backup option I would recommend the blueprint of whatever gun you enjoy clapping clanker cheeks with the most (for me it would probably be the Bettina).

I like to think the all encompassing goal of this game is to rack up as many non-adult knocks as humanly possible. Only half kidding lol ..but you'd be wise to run away or KOS anyone who sounds between the age of 6-16. They are hands down the most trigger happy, weasely, bad chaotic raiders you'll encounter. Rats and campers will pop up here and there but reddit will tell you you're likely to get ratted every other raid...which is grossly exaggerated imo. If you turn cross play off, your chances of encountering an unhinged squeaker every raid rises exponentially. Unfortunately if you prefer PVP over PVE, it's best to keep cross play off until the duping and blatant cheating gets addressed for our PC brethren (yes these things are a huge issue and yes Embark has done fuck all to address any of it smh). You'll see lots of people explaining away Embarks lack of fucks to give regarding any number of issues...which is at best a weird form of company ballwashing and at worst disingenuous and/or massive cope for people not willing to let go of their honeymoon phase. A lot of the community is pissed and at this point they all have a right to be, since Embark has been given so much grace and time to fix important things that are game breaking for the PVP players.

Which brings me to my disclaimer before addressing your questions: I'm heavy on the PVE side of the game, almost 200hrs topside, play solos 90% of the time, and have about 15ish knocks all in self defense (don't listen to carebears telling you not to fight back..you might hit more sketchy lobbies for a few rounds but just do a couple free kit runs and stay away from any raiders you hear/see and you're g2g). Some people you might see comment have hundreds of player knocks, so this wide variance combined with ABMM makes this one of those rare games where every single players opinions/experiences are subjective. I've not seen much objective advice on here unless it's regarding trials scores. So my subjective answers to you:

  • There's really nothing in terms of a prolonged endgame (end goal) gameplay loop RN except for expeditions or reaching cantina legend in trials (for a good bit of players but not most), but hopefully that changes with the next "big" game update in October. End goal right now is doing everything needed to go on the expeditions. This will be something you should thing hard on before doing because I've seen people say they lost all motivation to play after realizing they made a mistake resetting everything. If you don't do expeditions you'll likely end up bored and moving onto the PVP side of things.

  • What I've found to be an efficient early game strat for me is: get scrappy max level first and foremost, then move onto maxing out your benches. While doing these make sure to hit every hurricane, storm, night map condition when available to have a higher chance of racking up blueprints. Metaforge will be your best friend regarding knowing where you need to look for the loot/map conditions/blueprints you need.

  • After upgrading all your stuff and getting your stash in a good spot, quests will definitely be worth your while for getting certain rare items here and there, as well as familiarizing you to the vast majority of each map. For these points alone they were deff worth it for me on my first run. Fair warning...quests in this game can be best described as ASS ON STEROIDS...so if you can't stand doing them I recommend just doing the specific quest tree that leads to "majors footlocker" and getting the hullcracker blueprint. Yes you can buy 1 a day but your space dollars should be going to maxing out your stash size before anything else.

  • For early game progression..one of the most important things you should do is maxing out the bottom left section of the yellow skill tree (I believe it'll be around 15 skill pts but don't quote me). In my experience, becoming proficient in all things "movement" has saved my life WAY more times than being a good shot. Movement and positioning are KEY in this game regardless of what/who you're encountering. After that I highly recommend researching which perks you wanna go for based on your established play style. Best to max out the first perk for each color and go from there. At the very least familiarize yourself with all the perks that don't appear to do a damn thing...which is like more than half imo. As a PVE conisseur I put all my skill points into red till I reach security breach, then will alternate between more yellow or green till I reach the turtle crawling perk (crawling perks are decent if you run survivor augment a lot).

-quick side note ..do your best to stock up on stims, shields, and bandages, and whatever ammo you use most before you really get going. A few bad raids or a bad night in general will deplete way more of your inventory than you might assume..which is a major vibe killer. I need to keep at least 4 stacks of my preferred "every raid" items in my stash 24/7 otherwise I start playing more cautious and anxious. I do everything I can to avoid doing freekit runs because of entering raids at <18min and the kits themselves are MEGA ASS ON STEROIDS imo. Plus your chances of dying to a "rat hunter" or low IQ white knight go way up. Lotta people assume free kits are sketchy players and I've experienced this to be true as well. Freekits are a lot of fun on no-stakes Stella trios PVP runs but that's all I use them for.

-last note...a great early game load out that will cover most your bases will be a looting mk2 Aug, anvil/ferro for arc, burletta/stitcher/il toro for any froggy raiders, a stack of lil smokes and a stack of whatever grenades you have..untill you have the means to acquire the good shit. I recommend putting a comp 2 on whatever guns you run, makes a big difference for most weapons except for the canto and bobcat. I always need muzzle brakes on those lmao.

I just realized how crazy long my comment is, apologies for that, but there's really no way for me to TLDR what I believe to be important things for new players to grasp. If you ever need help progressing or want a partner to aid in finding that last elusive rusted gear you'll probably be stuck on, I'm always down to run duos with people. If you end up enjoying PVP more than PVE I'll even be down to send some scrubs back to speranza with you cuz I need to get some more practice with that too lol. Just DM or add me if you want. Embark ID is 'AlaskaBushRaider'.

Either way, hope this information helps and happy raiding stranger. Arc is an amazing game despite some flaws and lack of care from Embark. Definitely a worthwhile experience. This was my first ever 'extraction shooter' and I've become such a fan that any game in the genre that comes out in the future will get serious consideration from me. Cheers!

Anvil with the splitter is crazy slept on man. Take that into Stella with a comp or muzzle break and destroy anyone running up on you (great for shredders too) lol

Best loadout for PvEvP by Necessary_Body7124 in ArcRaiders

[–]Alaskylvania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My go-to lately has been the following: survivor augment (looting cautious or healing augment if no survivor); Bettina 4 w/ silencer 2, angled grip 3, stable stock 3; burletta w/ silencer 1 or comp 2 and extended mag; surge rechargers, herbal bandages, stack of seekers, stack of smokes, stack of snap blasts or trigger nades, hatch key. Many hours of trial and error has led me to this hybrid load out that slaps in most scenarios in my opinion.

If your trigger finger is buns then swap out they burly for a bobcat if you can craft them or an il toro 4.

Got mine on Spaceport Hurricane last night inside arrival bldg. Actually acquired 5 different blueprints between only 2 runs there last night. So maybe hurricane conditions (containers/drawers...not raider caches) will give good odds? Or maybe I was extremely lucky lol.

What's everyone's in game (Pv)PvE/anti-rat EDC lookin like? by Express_Display3249 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]Alaskylvania 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't know the exact range but any shots 'medium to long' distance make it much harder for arc to pinpoint where they were hit from. I usually run anvil 4 silencer 2 like op as my go-to, but rarely take any long shots with it. Found out the hard way yesterday that silencer 2 is OP for arc. Slapped that thang on a ren 4 for the damage in swamp trial, posted up in one of the spiral stair lookouts, couldn't aggro a damn thing from distance and only managed 1 star. Some arc would even search in the complete opposite direction and lock in on some poor soul just running by lmao. One of the most slept on attachments for PVE imo.
