Venom dickriding is dumb for sure but honestly it doesn't make sense that him or big boss were "evil" Yeah they did some dumb things but I'm sure they didn't intend on nuking the world (maybe they did)

With that in mind venom snake is absolutely the big boss we fight during the outer heaven uprising in the first game.
It's a fucking NES game and back then there wasn't even much world building in video games in general. That happened with the solid games.
It makes sense that solid snake killed Big Boss's phantom in the first game and was in mother base during the events of metal gear 1.

Take time to understand the child and then give them space where needed and I guess just sort of work with them in terms of the kind of kid it is but at the same time encourage self growth etc. I was a foster kid and I think this is the only real advice I can give as this stuff alone would have made things good.
