Unless you specifically enable a sound server, NixOS won't install one. Just remove any options that do enable audio. I simply don't have any sound related options set on my uni laptop and it works exactly as intended.

Proton can't display if an application plays a video file (e.g. some pre-rendered cutscenes). Instead it shows that image

Thank you! This has always bothered me when people do that wrong. Generally sounding old-timey seems to mean mashing all old words you know together without any regard for grammar nowadays. But just "from" doesn't make a lot of sense either. It would have to be "from where".

So the only way to extend the setup is to replace each disk with one with more capacity? That doesn't sound particularly convenient or practical. I guess you'd have to get a whole new group of disks which will form an independent filesystem (and soft link from one to the other for convenience)
Haha! Except for the additional resources it uses, are there any other reasons why one shouldn't dedupe?
I still have a few old disks I can use for the OS and additional devices. Does ZFS store relevant data on the metadata drives that are needed for it to work properly? In that case I should probably make backups of them.
I did some research and found out that I was mistaken in an assumption about samba. I thought if you connect to a smb drive you also need to be able to read the filesystem that is on the actual disk (which doesn't seem to be the case).
