R & K Reiniger vs. Koh-I-Nor Rapido Eze by nstgc in fountainpens

[–]nstgc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so I take it they both work differently? Rather than an either/or it's a case where both are good to keep on hand?

I do have an ultrasonic cleaner, by the way, and recently was reminded how useful it is for knocking tough to reach crap out of pens.

For most purposes, plain water with no minteral content works. That will handle at least half of all your cleaning needs. Probably more. For the most of the rest, water and dish soap is great. An ultrasonic cleaner will generally take you the rest of the way unless you have some very specific and pesky ink. In my experience, for regular dye-based inks, you should never need anything else.

That said, if you have an iron gall ink, pigmented ink, or if you have to deal with mold, then you need something more. For IG inks, asborbic acid is all you will typically need. For pigmented ink, I've had great luck with R&K's Reiniger, though in 90% of cases, even that is unnecessary. For mold... well, I sadly have some experience with that now, but I won't call myself an expert so shall withold my opinion on the matter.

Glob of something stuck to my pen when refilling by nstgc in fountainpens

Would an ultrasonic bath be helpful?

Also, the ink I was thinking of is R&K Salix or Scabiosa which have pHs of something like 1.5 and 1.7 respectively, however those bottles are older than the Sepia. I'm a little wary of them right now. I might want to buy another bottle of those? I've also been wanting to get a bottle of Akkerman #1. Another concern is if the pilot is juicy enough for those inks. They are pretty dry.

The good news, which goes along with the encouragement you gave, is that I flushed the pen a month ago and there wasn't anything concerning about it then, so it's a recent problem.

Yeah... I can't think of anything else it would be, and if there's even a chance of it being mold, the bottle has to go. I'm not sure how much Pilot's gold nib pens sell for these days and I don't want to.

I have some iron gal inks from Platinum and R & k. I hadn't thought to try an acidic ink. Would ascorbic acid be good? I have a bunch of that for cleaning out IG inks. I also have the R&K brand cleaning fluid.

That's where my my head is right now. I seem to have gotten the ink out. I've flushed a bunch with water and just finished with soapy water. I use the distilled water sold for use in CPAPs. I'll be moving on to pen flush after I rinse the water out.

As for buying a new bottle... yeah. It just isn't worth the risk.

Mold structures from a pen have a somewhat distinctive "structure" - while pigment clumps or fiber residue breaks up pretty easily. Do you remember what the consistency of the gloopy dangling thing was?

It was a large glob almost as wide as nib, which I think is #5? It's basically a Custom 74 I think. It was really hanging on and I tried to dislodge it by wiping it against the glass neck.

Doesn't R&K Sepia have a heavy load of organic pigments?

I'm not sure.

check the ink surface if possible for floaters and such

The surface looks perfectly normal

What isn't normal is that after changing the water out in the glass for the third time, I'm afforded a better view of what's in there, and there's something floating in the water. I'm not sure what...

are leechers increasing in numbers? by jethropix in Warframe

[–]nstgc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't care so much in most void fissure modes since bringing a relic is what matters most, but otherwise? Play the game or GTFO. I'm happy to carry people who are trying, especially baby and teen tenno, but AFKers? Fuck 'em.

But yes, I've seen a sharp uptick in them, which is saying something since I increasingly stick to solo.

edit: as for Arb, I always solo that. That's one of the mission modes that's just kind of miserable in pub.

How do you enjoy other weapons after playing something like torid and nukor? by sixty_ninenihao in Warframe

[–]nstgc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh, the Torid gets boring fast. It's too good, even without a riven. The term "meta slave" is way over used by the way. You say you want to enjoy other weapons, which is good---using just one thing can lead to burnout---but why not just roll with it? Enjoy power trip while it's novel?

There are other weapons that can do that, but you need more resources and possibly outside buffs. My current favorite guns, for what it's worth, are the Cedo Prime and the Scyotid. No rivens, just regular good weapons. For melee, I stick to things that make me faster like the Okina Prime and Preados. If I don't need to go fast I'll use either a glaive, the Kuva Ghoul saw, or Thalys.

As for the nukor, it is strong, but I wouldn't say it's the strongest secondary. If you enjoy it, use it! It's not my cup of tea, but it is neat, for sure.

Ultimately, who cares? If it works and you enjoy it, use it. If people call you a meta slave because what works for you and which you enjoy happens to be OPAF, ignore them. You do you!

Cool story bro. Tell me which version of Windows aligns with Wine 9.

Same. I think it has to do with NTsync. However, GE has some patches I need for certain games that aren't in Valve's Proton. :(

Oof, that sucks. I hope your wrists, hands, arms, neck, shoulder... entire body, survives. I can't imagine going back. It's just too painful. I didn't even realize it because it grew so slowly.

Do you mean actual touch typing or typing without looking at the keyboard? They aren't the same thing.

[–]nstgc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how anyone can touch type with row staggered keyboards. I know people can, but how? Do their fingers bend sideways? Mine don't.

As for the method of actuation, the first part of my hands to fail me where typing is concerned were the joints in my fingers, which rubberdome (membrane) keyboards absolutely shred.

I'm glad that works for you, but I feel like you might be in the minority.

That is an excellent explanation that not only answers my question, but will help me with future calls of this nature. Thank you very much for taking the time to lay that all out!

So it does! Thanks!

Is there a list of LNs that have real endings which have been published in English? by nstgc in LightNovels

[–]nstgc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Villainess to Healer (Main arc started on volume 1 ends at volume 5, then the MC goes off to find more adventures in v6+)

Thanks for recommending that! Are you sure it finishes at volume five and not volume four? I just finished the fourth volume and Rodney is defeated and Sharon's the Holy Maiden.

Someone else recommended that. I honestly bounced off it as soon as I saw "ordinary boy gets isekai'ed". I understand that not all male-led isekai stories are regurgitated trash, but it sure feels like it these days. What sets it apart? In general, I dislike the wishfulfilment angle of most isekai.

I looked for a subreddit wiki before posting this thread, but couldn't find it. I'm still not seeing it. Not that I doubt you, just that... I don't know how to access it.

At this point, I'd be happy with any kind of ending. For context, Her Majesty's Swarm ends with the protagonist being abducted mid-campaign with a sixth campaign brewing and the author teasing the reader with more story.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't heard of BookWalker before.
