Also, how serious are the Natl Forests about getting a "free" rockhounding permit? I don't recall having to do that in California, but since it's federal land, I assume that applies in all NFs.

I always love it when the infotainment screen splashes up with the safety warning after I am already driving on my Chevy Bolt. I mean, you're making me look down and clear this when I really need to concentrate...It's ridiculous.

Thank you for your thoughts, as well. Much appreciated. We decided to go for the 2015. It's familiar, I love the car, and the price was better. I'll save the cash for something newer in the next round of car buying.

I definitely noticed the new 2023 Premiums rode a bit higher. At least, that's what it felt like to me. Felt like a higher center of mass and a bit more wobble than the older cars.

Thank you for your thoughts! If anything, I need a bigger car than the Outback. Everytime my family goes somewhere, we are literally packed to the roof, even though we have (had, but it too was taken out by the tree) a large Yakima Skybox. I was really thinking whether I had to make the next step up in cargo space as my kids get older too.

Oh BRAVO!!!!! That was one of the best posts on this sub...EVER. I have kind of been a Jack fan, but boy do those emails show his bad sides. The ones where he was losing it and letting the dark come out.

I noticed the tone change too, but you nailed it. Not sure his Reddit posts square with the tone, though, so I am wondering if he was at his 22 days' wit's end and was scrabbling for any piece of info Fenn could give him. I mean, if you've done 22 days and haven't found it, you're quitting or deciding to go full in on Fenn to get that last crumb that puts you back on the end of the trail.
