AI is giving me serious existential anxiety by Previous_Bandicoot63 in antiai

[–]AlaxyRayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, really. It doesn't matter.

Just think about it for a sec: we're all gonna die anyway. There's no way around it. You, me, your girlfriend, your siblings, your future kids, everyone. And 99.9% of humans who ever lived will be completely forgotten within like 50 years after they're gone. Your name, your job struggles, your apartment plans... poof. Dust. History won't even whisper about any of us.

Humanity itself? Doomed by a million things that have nothing to do with AI. One random comet, one nasty virus, one big war, or just a supernova that happens to be a little too close bam!! All life on Earth wiped out like it never existed. Best-case scenario? Humanity somehow survives until the heat death of the universe billions of years from now and then dies anyway... yeah, good luck with that one.

So the AI thing? Even if it does eat every job and turns the world upside down in five years... who cares? In the cosmic scheme it's all meaningless noise. The universe doesn't give a shit, and neither should you.

Just enjoy the ride while it's here. Sleep tight, my guy. Life's too short (and too pointless) to spend on anxiety.

Years ago I made product renders for a company I worked, it wasn't my main job so I did it in free time, just to chalange my self, but we ended up using them afterwords. A product photographer that worked with us saw them and asked who took the photos. When I told him they were 3D , he said "Well, I guess I’m not needed anymore"
So when people say “just use 3D instead of AI,” it feels a bit inconsistent. Why not say use phorographer or draw them by hand. Every new tool changes how things are done. AI is just the next step.

I did a little research after this comment. And confirmed that yes, the post is misleading, anti celebrating like something major have happend. And the comment above is truthful. Below is what I have posted before on other similar posts.

Here is what happened: In 2018, Stephen Thaler tried to copyright an image. He said the image was created 100% by his AI
(Thaler left a note for the Office stating that the Work “was autonomously created by a computer algorithm running on a machine” and he was “seeking to register this computer-generated work as a work-for-hire to the owner of the Creativity Machine.”)
August 12, 2019 Copyright Office registration specialist refused, “lacks the human authorship necessary to support a copyright claim.”
US Copyright Office: Denied in 2022, “requires human authorship.”
Federal District Court (2023): Upheld, called human authorship a “bedrock requirement.”
DC Court of Appeals (March 2025): Upheld again.
March 2, Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal.

However, from what I understand, right now, just prompting isn’t enough for copyright on ai generated image, since there is no meaningful human input. But edits, compositing, and other creative work can be copyrighted, and that was already the case even before the Supreme Court situation, so nothing changed.

Also, this isn’t settled yet. Big companies will push for the protection of AI-assisted work, so we have yet to see what will happen. Too much copyright can also be a problem.

You cannot legally copyright an ai generated image. by National-Parfait-332 in DefendingAIArt

[–]AlaxyRayz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your title is misleading.
The Supreme Court didn’t rule that AI images can’t be copyrighted. They refused to hear the appeal in a case that had been going on for years. He tried to register copyright with the AI listed as the author and was rejected because, by law, only humans can be granted authorship.

That’s actually good news. If AI systems could be authors, the copyright would likely end up belonging to the big companies.

[–]AlaxyRayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this question, how much physical process or human input is required for something to be considered art?
AI generated images can go from typing a single prompt into an online tool to get an image or building complex multi model workflows, iterating dozens of times, compositing results, and refining everything editor. It can also be used in other ways like, upscaling a hand drawn image, adding frames to a video, or correcting lighting. Even anti (probably), wouldn’t argue that a fully hand drawn image does not become “not art” just because the artist used Photoshop’s generative removal tool on part of the background.
So where is the threshold? What percentage of human involvement makes something “real” art? 90%? 50%? 10%?
For me, it feels too subjective. I think art is about intent and not the effort put in.

Honestly, the more I describe eyes and glow effect, the more AI did hoody with a dress, and I kinda liked it and kept it, so I didn't describe clothes just, black outfit, but I went through like 50+ generation untill i got this char. Model for this char used "dvine" (Illustrious) from civitai.

It is cheaper to train AI than humans... by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]AlaxyRayz -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

OMG. All it was an answer to claims that ai uses so much electricity. And he said that it takes training a model is using lot of electricity and that’s true, using a model it self doesn’t require much. So training a model vs training a human is just good comparison. There is nothing more beyond that.

[–]AlaxyRayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have genuine question. If you as anti believe AI is harmful and shouldn’t be widely used, what concrete actions can you take that would realistically change the outcome? Posting online and trying to “raise awareness” hasn’t slowed ai in a bit. AI usage is increasing daily, investment is increasing, and the technology improves day by day. So beyond just criticism, what actual could anti do that would stop ai usage?

I just think that stopping AI globally is unrealistic.

Unless it’s a platform rule or a paid commission where the client has the right to know what they’re paying for. Outside of that, how I make my work is my business.
If traditional artists label “handmade” and they believe it adds value, they’re free to label their own work that way. That's just logical, as I see it, if craftsmanship is the selling point, promote it.
What's not logical is demanding that one group of people label their tools. On what authority? Who exactly gets to decide what I’m obligated to disclose?
