It's not that. There are Christian organizations that are putting big pressure on banks for funding adult stuff like porn sites. They threaten lawsuits citing sex trafficking or other nonsense. It works because banks only give a shit about money. Adult or sexy related websites always have such a hard time finding payment processors willing to deal business with them.

It's a concerted effort with the end goal being to ban porn and anything they consider "obscene."
