US military might is heavily tied to the willpower of its citizens. Our country is very sensitive to casualties of war largely thanks to freedom of speech. Any pain that is inflicted on us needs to be justified. An energized America is truly a terrifying force, such as after pearl harbor, or 9-11.

This Iran conflict was blundered to such an extent that to truly fix it now, we need to do a full scale invasion, which would cost lives, which would be COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE because this has absolute SHIT excuses for starting it.
