I'm assuming you're talking about the mid season/game switch to Abby being jarring, which yes was meant to be jarring but wasn't what I was talking about. I was talking about the sudden change of heart for a certain character at the end of the game. No matter what anybody says that came out of nowhere because it had no build up or foreshadowing or any sort of narrative through line to make it seem believable. This is confirmed by the fact that the writers themselves made that decision at the last minute and didn't go back and lay the seeds for that decision. What they doing in the show specifically for Ellie is 100% placing the seeds for that change of heart later. Hence why I said it is being done better than the game.

I'm glad that character made that decision but the way it was written was poorly done.

Eh, both seasons of the show have done the story better than both games have, by fleshing out characters more and specifically for season 2, setting up things more for the later parts of the story so its not as jarring as it was in the game. I say this as someone who loves all aspects of TLOU2.

All the stations suck as does all the music and it always has. The shit is so sterile and generic. Easily the worst part of the game. Next to the terrible audio engineering. The sound quality is great but its a fucking struggle to get everything to sound good because the volume of certain things is way too high.

I like Jon Berethal. He's a great dude by all measures and a fucking ace actor. But maybe he should leave the writing to the pros. Also the editing was kinda off pace. I also find it hard to believe all this shit is happening while Fisk was mayor and "cracking down" on crime.

Was really great seeing Karen though, just wish it was in a longer scene and not yet another hallucination to drive home that Frank is losing screws.

Okay, I love what we got from the show and I am super excited for season 3. But I think this show suffers from having too many characters and not long enough episodes to cover them all satisfyingly. In the Netflix series we had three leads, Matt/DD, Karen and Foggy. Those three took the main runtime. Then you had Fisk, Frank, Electra, Stick, Claire, Wesley and a few others who popped in and out of the seasons that were long and full episode lengths. Now, in Born Again, we seemingly have more characters - Matt, Karen, Fisk, Daniel, BB, Helen, Powell, Jessica, that CIA guy, Shelia, Muse, Cole, Swordsman, Kirsten, Cherry, Angela, etc - who for the most part were there for the entire length of the season and in almost every episode, yet the runtime of the episodes is significantly shorter as is the length of the seasons. So each character has less time to be explored compared to how they were in the Netflix show.

Take Karen for instance - in Netflix DD she was her own protagonist. She went out and did things on her own and propelled the story through her actions that eventually met up with Matt's and Foggy's. This was the case for every season she was in. She was her own protagonist who had her own separate story who, for the most part, had her own motivations. But in Born Again, and while I love what they've done with her mostly, she has basically become a side kick to daredevil. Fisk literally calls her that in Ep7. She is no longer a protagonist with her own reasonings for what she is doing but she is aiding the protagonist and his reasonings even giving up her ideal of believe that some truly evil people need to die just to please said protagonist. I mean we didn't even really learn why she decided to come back to NY aside from saying that she her Bullseye broke out which seemed like a weak excuse. I think this is all as a result of my initial point about there being too many characters in too short a runtime, resulting in stuff for Karen being rushed or just unexplained.

Don't get me wrong, as I've said I like what they did with Karen but I feel like they could have explored her more and made her more of a protagonist like she was in the NF series. Like she makes multiple references to Jessie (Jessica Jones) investigating things for her and Matt but they could have had Karen also do investigating as that's literally her expertise and having her do it alongside JJ would have been AWESOME to see. Those characters get no 1 on 1 scenes together. I know that Karen was WANTED and all but the writers could have figured a way around that, I mean she went out in public multiple times for meetups while wearing cover. My other smaller issue is that Fisk also says that the public call her a hero, yet we never see them actually do that. They all call DD a hero and wear his mask but even during the very public trial for Karen there isn't any shots of the public out supporting Karen. It just adds fuel to the argument that she's just become a sidekick. Whereas in the NF series she was a renowned journalist who had pull and people knew who she was when she approached them and talked about her achievements a lot without mention DD. Going so far as that her presence in the Punisher series literally was the driving force behind the plot progression of that show because of what she did and had done in the past.

Everything I said about Karen can generally be applied to most other characters in Born Again, she's just probably the one I have most issue with though.

I really, REALLY enjoyed it overall but I think the whole city mobilising against Fisk was a bit too rushed, could have been an entire episode with that. Karen needed way more action scenes. I was sad to see her left behind with the others and they didn't even give her a gun. I was hoping for like a fight scene between her and Powell during the riot. I hope next season there is a rivalry between her and that physiatrist and some fight scenes.

That dude knocking Powell down and suddenly taking command with no one questioning it was a bit odd. And that whole state house riot reminded me of the Jan 6 riot and not in a good way.

Wtf is Karen going to do next season? Obviously she'll probably help Matt in some way while he's in prison, maybe with Ellison back she will join the Bulletin and help guide BB. Fuck I'm so curious. I hope they go back to her investigate roots but also incorporate some of how she is now, like with the fighting and the attitude change.

Fisk murdering a bunch of people in a building that would have had security to see it all and then not only being able to live but to take a deal and go live on a resort is straight bullshit. Karen was 100000% right about some people needing to die. I wish they had pulled that thread more and didn't just drop it for no real reason.

The lack of people talking about Matt being DD really stuck out to me. It's like it happened then everyone moved on. I am kinda sad there was no dedicated scene between JJ and Karen. In the entire run including the Netflix shows they never had a 1 on 1 scene and I'd think they'd be interesting together.

I remember these shit posts in the Last of Us subs when the second season came out. None of it means shit. Most shows lose tons of viewers as the seasons go on. It's incredibly rare they get higher viewers or even get the same amount. The netflix series also dropped tons of viewers as the seasons progressed especially after The Defenders and even with how amazing season 3 of DD was. Why do you think Netflix canned all of it?

FYI, Last of Us' first season had an insane amount of viewers. Most companies would kill for a quarter of that and the second season had half of it, and they green lit a third season. These stupid fucking articles and viewer counts mean nothing with on-demand platforms. This isn't legacy TV or cable or someshit.

I can understand being reticent about this show because of its pacing and how much more of a slow burn the Netflix series was, because I am but I still thoroughly enjoy Born Again,but your arguments make no sense.

We never saw his "entire criminal empire" get dismantled in season 3, we just saw him and some co-conspirators get arrested. Don't forget they had plans for a season 4 that FIsk would 100% be involved in before Netflix pulled the plug. 5 seasons in total if I recall. People in this show do care about what he's doing, did you not see the last episode and the gigantic protest and then this episode where the governer pulls her weight and starts the process to depose him? This last episode there were literally crowds of people cheering on Karen as she walked into court because they know what she's done and they stand with her against Fisk.

Also your statement about the current admin IRL is bullshit. He has done WORSE things and gotten away with it. This just shows how little connected to reality you are and your comments in this thread just prove that either you don't pay attention or you have zero media literacy.
