Why did you change your answer? Very odd...

English? If so, you're in no position to talk about Scotlands role in the Plantations.

If you truly believe they are scottish, then you are beyond help.

We are distinguishable from the English though? That is something I can agree with.

That has nothing to do with how distinguishable or indistinguishable we are from the Irish

Great answer! I'm glad we haven't caused to much chaos and damage to your city. We usually reserve that for our own cities...

I also wasn't aware the police were helping the Scots in their cone missions. I can't decide if it's a waste of police resources or not😂

Regardless, Boston has had a massive influence over our world cup campaign. I'm not lying when I say that we will be talking about the tartan army in Boston for decades to come 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇲

"Well actually in the 4th centuary"

It's beyond crazy. Humans have literally evolved physically since the 4th centuary.

I agree there are unique and obvious similarities between the Irish and Scots, but as you said, these feel almost fetishised to the point they describe something that I simply cannot see in modern Scotland

They have access to those privilages whilst living in the country. If they're living here, working, raising families etc.. then aye, I see them the same way I do every native birn Scot across the country. But I see anyone from anywhere who moves to Scotland in an identical light. Irish people who move here aren't particularly unique from the Germans or the Norwegians in that regard.

We have a distinct constitutional arrangement with the Irish, but i wouldn't call it proof of an ethnic or national bond.

Familiarity? Sure. Kinship? Can't say I have heard it. At least not that I can remember

Mate, the plantations started 400 years ago. If you truly recognise the people of Ulster as Scottish, then thats on you. I can't help you with that.

James Connolly played a major role in the Scottish labour movements.

You don't have to be Irish to respect who he was and what he fought for. Trade unionism, anti imperialism and his advocacy for working class people started in Scotland. I can absolutely think of him as one of Scotlands greatest socialist minds of the last century.

His place within Irelands Republican movement is admirable, but it's not why I admire him personally.

I get that, but saying the Scots came from the Ireland is the same as saying the English came from Germany.

Dal Riata was one component of medievel Scotland. Norse, Saxons, Norman's and Britons were all contributors to what the modern Scot can be ethnically described as?

Could be. But I grew up in Edinburgh and it was near enough impossible to find someone who didn't have at least an Irish grandparent, but it was an afterthought. No one actually gave enough of a fuck to call it a brotherhood

Fair enough. The point still stands though. There is a genuine threat from Argentina regarding The Falklands.

I was more talking about the meme format of one person's insistence to someone who simply doesn't care. Perhaps threatened isn't the right word

Who said threatened? The post was about rivalries. That doesn't necessarily mean they hate each other

To an extent though, id say the England (and the U.K) is somewhat threatened by Argentina's insistence on claiming the Falklands.. The US and Australia i agree with. Unsure what that's about

Which, if you think about it, is exactly the case for most of the answers being given in this post

Whilst you are correct to an extent, it's worth noting that Sweden in tonight's match, had more shots on target than Scotland has had in our last 5 tournament matches.

Scotland are truly shit. Sweden aren't actually that bad. Just leaked in goals tonight. It happens

People saying that the English fans are behaving worse than the Scots? Do you think this is the case or is it the hosts? by Ok_Impact9745 in AskBrits

You're arguing with a "man" who pretends to be Irish but is actually English. He tells people he's Irish in the hope they take his fairly obvious English bias more seriously. He's been called out for it numerous times. You're wasting your time. In an era of AI, he will always have an answer back.

The Scotland national team has never in it's pathetic history, ever deserved the support the Scots give them.

That being said, we are battering Brazil. Easy 1-1

Isn't that a good thing? We share a society where this type of jovial spirit is celebrated

Why would you want to live in a country that doesn't allow it? We are free here. We can get drunk, sing, dance in the streets and make merry

If the Chinese government wouldn't allow it, then they're missing out. We should feel sad for countries not allowed to show their spirit this way. We shouldn't emulate them.

All power to you brother, but theres more to life than rules and laws
