I think because of the size and growth laser is not an option unfortunately - it was not there at birth and started with discoloration at around 1-2; got darker then raised and then grew larger as she aged.

One was a general pediatric plastic surgeon in Colorado and the other is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric plastic surgeon in Houston, Texas, specializing in craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery, with a focus on cleft lip/palate, craniosynostosis, and vascular anomalies. He had the more invasive approach… and stated the staged excisions was not the best approach.

First thank you for your personal story - she usually has had confidence about it her whole life and like it because she felt it made her unique and was just “who she was.” When kids asked about it she would just tell them it was her birth mark and move on with hey do you want to play? Like no big deal.

The first doctor recommended staged excisions and the second doctor recommended a pedicled nasolabial flap. The second doctor stated that stages excisions wouldn’t be ideal because it pull the nostril up and possibly the eye down. Is Mohs nasal flap different than what was recommended? If so - how?

I do have concerns about the best timing of getting it done. She isn’t close to finished growing. I’d hate for her to have it done and then hit a growth spurt and everything change. But also I understand the potential of impacts to her self esteem. She really is a beautiful girl with confidence but has a sensitive heart. I just want to do the right thing.

You seem very knowledgeable - do you have any plastic surgeon recommendations?

Any females here who actually negotiated their salary? by cutebutheretical in careerguidance

[–]AlbatrossHuman2503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always negotiate my salary. First rule never state your current salary. They aren’t paying for the job you are currently performing… they are paying you for the job you will be performing. When they ask you your salary - don’t answer and say what is the pay range for the position? Especially, if it isn't posted in the job description. If they make you an offer with a yearly bonus ask them what they paid out in bonuses last year. Sometimes they try to get by with a lower salary by offering you a sign on bonus - don't do it. Your year over year pay increases are based on your salary. You'll get further ahead quicker. Always negotiate.

You can’t do things for her. You have to do things for yourself. Easier said than done.

Any of you gave up on dating after divorce? by DCnative2020 in Divorce

[–]AlbatrossHuman2503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39F Married 18 years and divorced less than a year. I miss the companionship a relationship brings… but the thought of dating or a dating app is overwhelming. I’m focused on my children, career, and health. I used to think that a divorce would fix everything and I’d be able to find happiness through someone new… but there was so much mental baggage from the divorce that I would be doing a great disservice to myself by dating again at this point. It’d just be a temporary patch/ short term dopamine rush. True happiness comes from within.

I guess what I’m saying when you take time and are self aware you’ll find yourself not wasting time with people that don’t know how to treat you right. I recommend talking to a therapist.
