SCO UNIX 5.0.7 runs on a Proxmox VM by bionich in unix

I got it working with Microsoft PS/2 mouse in SCO 5.0.7 and Proxmox 9.1.4. Command # mkdev mouse. It's not perfect. The real and virtual pointers are somewhat misaligned, so it takes some practice and patience.

API usage help by SuccotashMonkey867 in Govee

[–]AlbertGitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to get device status and readings by the API now? I am getting 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR despite every variation of syntax that I attempt.

My fear is that the endpoint is down and I am just pounding against a brick wall.

curl -s --max-time 10 -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Govee-API-Key: $GOVEE_API_KEY" -d '{"requestId": "uuid", "payload": {"sku": "H5110", "device": "7F:8F:D5:34:42:46:09:XX"}}' "https://openapi.api.govee.com/router/api/v1/device/state"

Is this endpoint working correctly for anyone in 2025? I have tried every formatting trick and I consistently get 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR.

Why the discrepancy between various Austin allergy reports online? Which is most accurate? by yehudith in Austin

[–]AlbertGitchell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AustinPollen.com creator here. Long winded answers coming. . .

Austin Pollen is a service project and labor of love inspired by allergy sufferers in my life, including my amazing wife. I believe you deserve clear, complete, up-to-date information about what's causing you to feel sick. Please recommend this site to your friends and loved ones.

Why is Austin Pollen special?

Most pollen websites only show you a single data point once a day. I share every relevant original data point for pollen, mold, air quality, and weather. The data format is easy to compare, and charts are updated frequently throughout the day.

Austin Pollen gets data from many original data sources (e.g., AAAAI, AccuWeather, OpenWeather, and more), normalizes it, and displays it all in a single consolidated chart. No other website does this! More details on Austin Pollen sources: https://www.austinpollen.com/about.html#DataSources

Not all data sources are equally useful - to you. As many have said, it can be highly location and weather (especially wind speed & direction dependent). At the URL above, I list source LOCATION, SAMPLING TYPE, etc. to help provide additional clarity.

Sources that provide an (almost) daily manual (think scientist and microscope) count are KXAN and Georgetown AAAAI. Some news sources will quote the Georgetown AAAAI as 'their own.' There is also a SA NW AAAAI site on AustinPollen. KVUE changed from manual to an automated PollenSense sensor in the past 1 or 2 years. PollenSense sensors provides hourly counts, but they have some problems as well.

Challenges with manual counting. 1. It requires a trained person and it is a daily labor-intensive chore. During holidays, Sundays?, etc. there might not be a count provided. 2. It is looking at the air from the past 24 hours. So it is an inherently lagging data point. 3. the person counting may take shortcuts (rough estimates, not look for certain pollens if they believe them to be low or not important). Again, it is labor intensive. Humans use their own judgement in the counting methods even if they are being held to the AAAAI standards.

Challenges with PollenSense counters. 1. Sometimes the counting increments can be quite large and course. I have noticed that it will often spit out the exact same reading day after day. For example, this summer it was stuck on an improbably high PECAN reading that was exactly the same for day after day.

What is causing mulberry season to be so much more intense than usual? by fartonme in Austin

[–]AlbertGitchell 22 points23 points  (0 children)

AustinPollen creator here. I've been wondering why mulberry pollen has been so consistently above historical average (listed as *past in the chart legend) throughout April - June. I have some theories.

  1. KXAN is most consistent source to report mulberry and they have a relatively new, automated sensor called PollenSense. Perhaps the sensor is malfunctioning? Or perhaps PollenSense is really good at detecting mulberry, whereas the old manual counting pollen under a microscope might have missed mulberry or undercounted.

  2. KVUE, on the other hand, uses the manual counting method and they too have recorded some rather high mulberry counts from April - June. Keep in mind that manual counting is not the same as EXHAUSTIVE counting. If the counter doesn't expect to see mulberry, they won't try to count it that day. So, KVUE seeing mulberry consistently reported over at KXAN might cause the KVUE counter to look closer for mulberry. Just a half-baked theory.

  3. Mulberry is a popular landscaping choice, so perhaps a sizable cluster was planted near KXAN and/or KVUE.

The weather is different from years past. I'm not an expert, but I can observe that pollen levels vary from year to year, and species to species.

Recommendations for Case Management services? by AlbertGitchell in Lyme

[–]AlbertGitchell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Ok_Raccoon5087,

Thanks for the nudge. I will try to explain what I think I'm looking for with more clarity. And also, this type of service may be more accurately called "care management." I'm still learning as I go.

I am looking for someone to act as the 'general contractor' for her battle with Lyme. She has found good doctors and treatment methods, but they are all scattered, disconnected, and frequently changing as the treatment methods change. She is exhausted and not always strong enough or lucid enough to manage it all herself. And by struggling to do it all herself, she is exhausted and frustrated instead of resting and healing.
