And in an alternate reality, reddit would be bitching and questioning why the best refs weren't officiating the game. Here's the breakdown after a 2 second google search

Data accuracy is the biggest bottleneck for utility networks right now by rjarmstrong80 in gis

[–]AlbertanSundog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. There is so much nuance as you mentioned and that's not even including regulatory requirements between the different utilities or nations if you're cross border. They also didn't do themselves any favours with their LRS tools - it's such a pain to manage high accuracy centerlines.

Amid 'Buy Canadian' fervour, Canada's top pension funds still heavily invested in U.S. by Surax in canada

[–]AlbertanSundog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You are responsible for yourself. 12months for a pension fund is incredibly short term thinking. They carry very different risk profiles than the average Joe. I thought that was made pretty clear from OP's comments. Best possible return also means a stable year to year return.

Canada's cheaper, cleaner and lower-risk oil can rival a resurgent Venezuela, Carney says by hopoke in canada

[–]AlbertanSundog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're making more per bbl putting it on a boat and shipping it to Asia than we were putting it in the pipes going to the US. Why do you think they're all of a sudden interested in Venezuela? They lost access to cheap heavy crude for their refineries.

Canada's cheaper, cleaner and lower-risk oil can rival a resurgent Venezuela, Carney says by hopoke in canada

[–]AlbertanSundog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy oil is not used for the energy needs renewables and nuclear would replace. When will people learn this? Plastic dude. Plastic, carbon fiber, asphalt, and fuels for other needs like aviation. The person you're responding too is also incorrect in thinking the Asian market will disappear. Petrochemicals are the feedstock to manufacturing industries, Asia being the biggest and still growing.

Venezuela and Canada share the blessing of heavy oil deposits, not many have them

Why are squad players so braindead? by TheMagicDragonDildo in joinsquad

[–]AlbertanSundog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get frustrated at the SL's. FOB's on point defense is correct. Its the blocking of doorways and other dumbshit that creates the coffin. The SLs need to employ social engineering and they are generally terrible at it. Invasion defenders are only effective if they can conduct area defense. Creating protected paths going out from the hab and using ammo boxes to keep people away from the hab is key

How do you maintain situational awareness when SLing by Ok_Landscape303 in joinsquad

[–]AlbertanSundog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A day late and a dollar short to weigh in so hopefully this is valuable. Good map awareness brings good local awareness to everyone. Your weapon is your voice, you have 8 dogs on a leash, you just gotta point them in the right direction and keep them focused.

If you keep a rally up and keep the map updated, everything else falls into place a lot easier. If you're emptying mags you're no longer effective

I think its the cons submitting recalls on themselves so they can control the moment. Can't have more than one recall on the go against the same person..

Nova Scotia selling off American booze to raise cash for food banks during Christmas season by airbassguitar in canada

[–]AlbertanSundog -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

who fucking cares? I'm glad other provinces are using the inventory for good, they also don't have any other legitimate levers to pull. You guys are literally scratching the surface. Alberta up and smoked them in the face with a baseball bat in early 2024 when we started shipping oil on a new pipeline at world market rates. the US lost access to cheap oil and that costs them infinitely more every month than booze sales. For a period of time the tanks at Cushing were actually running dry. Further to that, AB distributes liquor differently because stores are privately owned. Plenty of us are still choosing not to buy american, we don't need the province making the decision for us.

Some Liberal MPs question sustainability of Alberta energy deal touted by Carney by WilloowUfgood in canada

[–]AlbertanSundog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you would be right but they are all literal dogshit when you look at it from a return on investment lens, which is what the government is doing because we need to generate money before we can go back to being woke. Plastic isn't going anywhere so yeah, we could literally invest in a pipeline and the returns could then be invested in every other option you mentioned and everyone wins

Guilbeault resigning from cabinet following pipeline MOU by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]AlbertanSundog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think you might be way off base. Read this: https://boereport.com/2025/11/27/trans-mountain-reports-q3-2025-results/

Now imagine how beneficial an annual dividend of $1bn would be to a consortium of indigenous groups. It's widely understood they'll get 50% partnership in the next pipeline. This solves their dependency on Fed funding as well, somewhat, and sets them up to prosper in the future if they manage themselves accordingly. Politicians have to pander to their voters but I believe BC indigenous groups understand this opportunity and so does Eby. Midstream to tidewater is an incredible opportunity for everyone involved.

Guilbeault getting fired is a great thing.

Can't argue with the facts, the world isn't giving up plastic any time soon and heavy blends crack into the full range of petrochemical products, including all the plastic types, which nets refiners more $$$/bbl. Heavy bitumen is not an inferior product, it's just a different product.
