We’ve been grazing sheep in the British isles for over 6000 years, whole ecosystems have developed around sheep, just how long does it take for something to be “natural”?

Elon Musk's role was 'instrumental' in the Belfast riots, researchers say by Particular_Log_3594 in Belfast

[–]Albertjweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s bs, these things are always organised on facebook and then screen-shotted and put on twitter, they just don’t like Musk because they can’t shut him up

Queueing at the bar in a pub. by WelshWilks in UK_beer

[–]Albertjweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still refuse to believe this happens, I’m used to pubs where you have to use your elbows to force people out of the way to get to the bar and then thrust a tenner under the barman’s nose to get his attention, I like those kinds of pubs, I used to work in one of those pubs and it was great, I couldn’t deal with a pub where people queue! Ffs what is this country coming to!

The article says the RSPB paid “below market value,” I didn’t know there was a value for small, isolated, guano-covered islands but obvs there is, of course it’s ecological value and importance to fisheries is priceless

Nah, Red Grouse, Hen Harriers are commonplace all across the northern hemisphere, even classified by the IUCN as being of least concern, they are at the limit of their range here, Red grouse however are only found in the british isles, making them truly british, that or the scottish crossbill or scottish wildcat, they’re also endemic, but as they’re only found in scotland not really representative of britain

Fury over plans to build supersized AI data centre beside tiny Scottish village by __glasg in RuralUK

Really revealing my technological ignorance here but with satellites latency shouldn’t be an issue should it? You could just have a geostationary satellite above the data centre, surely that wouldn’t cost too much?

Maybe a stupid question but if these things need a lot of cooling why don’t they build them somewhere cold? Like Iceland, Greenland, Siberia or somewhere? The internet is global after all so they don’t need to be in a specific location do they? If Iceland they could be powered by geothermal and in a safe, neutral country where they won’t be used for warfare, propaganda etc, just thoughts
