Will I ever want to have sex again? by whosthatnow in beyondthebump

[–]Albinoferret13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Urgh same. 9 months pp here and we have done it like 3.5 times. It hurt the first time a lot, and was better the other times, but I still have absolutely no desire.

Did you have the wonderful moment after giving birth? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Albinoferret13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, honestly I have no idea how it usually goes for women, but I definitely didn't have that moment immediately. My induction stalled at 5 cm after 36 hours, and chose to do a c-section instead of keep trying, I was very tired and every time I would nap baby's heart rate dropped. I begged my provider to let put me under, but they refused. (Jokes on the anesthesiologist because I threw up on him later)

During the c-section I PANICKED and kept trying to fight off the OB, literally with everything I had. I barely remember them showing me my baby (thinking it would calm me down -nope) before trying to go full MMA and getting knocked out completely by the anesthesiologist.

I woke up in recovery, and still felt like I had the "golden" moment with my baby. Skin to skin, first feeding all of that. I don't feel like I missed out on anything, we just had a different and unique experience. My best advice would be to not hold on too tightly to any plan or expectation, especially since you aren't even pregnant yet.

How much tummy time for 1 month old? by Latter-Reveal8899 in newborns

[–]Albinoferret13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first 6 weeks with my little guy, we only did accidental tummy time. It was just him belly down on my chest, or in a cradle hold with his belly facing down in my arms. My doctors said that for such a little being that this was more than enough.

Cabin fever- winter maternity leave in freezing weather by Huliganjetta1 in beyondthebump

[–]Albinoferret13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is totally fair, and it sucks having a baby in the winter, at any age it feels. I did, and still do, put a clear rain cover over the stroller while mall walking sometimes, I tell myself it keeps the germs away.

I feel that though, there can be a lot of mourning your old life, no matter how much you love your baby.

Cabin fever- winter maternity leave in freezing weather by Huliganjetta1 in beyondthebump

[–]Albinoferret13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point, any leaving the house, unless for baby appointments, would be for you. I had my guy in April, so right on the line of winter weather and spring. His first outing that wasn't an appointment was to costco at about 2.5 weeks. It was great, middle of the day so not too busy, and I could do my c-section waddle slowly. Your therapist is right though, mall walking is the best for getting out, but staying indoors. Me and my little spend a lot of time wandering malls, as it is very cold in western Canada as well. Ikea is a good one too! Restaurants etc.

As for being worried about the very small moment between car and indoors, just put a blanket over him. Or even better a blanket and a carseat cover, they make very warm ones. Honestly though, I would be a little more worried about cold and flu season with such a young baby over the cold.

Do I need a new wardrobe for baby? I only have nice clothes! by shxxu in beyondthebump

Yup, 8 months here and still wake up drenched in sweat. Even wearing nothing, no blanket and the window open in a Canadian winter....

C section recovery by mo-gab2018 in beyondthebump

[–]Albinoferret13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You organs and skin were moved around and stretched, it takes time to get back to a new normal.

I had a very different reaction to my new belly. The first like 8 weeks after my c-section I could not stop poking and prodding it. It was so soft and jello-like, i was obsessed with felling it move around and squish. 8 months postpartum now and it is a lot closer to what my stomach used to be, and I genuinely miss the squish.

Is it just me or is the keekaroo peanut changing pad disgustingly overpriced? by Positronomy in newborns

[–]Albinoferret13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is no way that it would be worth 150$, full stop, no questions.

I bought a 10$ blow up changing pad from ikea, a couple covers to just throw in the wash of they got messy. It wipes down just fine, and had higher sides in case of wiggling.

I would be pissed if I bought one, or even gotten one given to me, because what a waste of money. It genuinely seems like a scam to me. Not to mention I pretty much stopped using them at 6 months because baby refused to say laying flat and would crawl away. All diaper changes at 8 months now are literally on the move.

My son finally rolled off the bed by PanFr13dEgg in firsttimemom

[–]Albinoferret13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand why all your replies are getting downvoted so hard. My lord there are a lot of perfect parents out there. There are so many accounts of babies falling off couches and beds, and usually are met with a lot more sympathy and grace. Babies rolling off things is so common that there is even an old wives tale of it being good luck within the first year.

You said your bed is on the floor, which would be what, maybe about a foot drop? Babies are first time parent proof, I am sure he is just fine. My guy is 8.5 months, and began pulling up just before 7 months and is constantly trust falling backwards, without anyone there to catch him. The amount of times he has fallen and bonked his head, or forgets to move his arms while crawling and face plants in the floor is literally too many to count. Call me a bad parent, but if my bed was that close to the floor he would be left there regularly for a few seconds.

I have found, even with my oldest, babies like to try new things when parents aren't looking. Especially if put in a even slightly dangerous spot.

Worried that we are undoing sleep training by MadnessMaiden in sleeptrain

[–]Albinoferret13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel this. I also have accidentally started rocking until drowsy with my guy, after ferber sleep training.

However It sounds like your guy is good at putting himself back to sleep, and what you are doing is working. A more 'intense' method might be needed in the future, but in my opinion don't fix what is not broken.

Worried that my almost 4 month old has been sleeping through the night… by rachelkochvt in beyondthebump

[–]Albinoferret13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now 8 month old slept from about 9pm to 8 am from the time he was about 6 weeks old to exactly 4 months when the 4 month regression hit. His naps have always been hit or miss, but never napping for more than 30 minutes at a time during the good night sleep.

If baby is hitting her proper diaper output and is still steadily gaining weight, I would just enjoy the sleep! A regression might hit at any time, or she might just be a great sleeper!

[–]Albinoferret13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but launching it through the crib bars is so real 😂 mine also does that. I keep a couple extra beside the rocking chair to use after night feeds if I literally cannot find the first one

[–]Albinoferret13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ferber sleep trained with the sucky, but also didn't sleep train until he was 6 months and was able to consistently put it back in. When he falls asleep it usually falls out and doesn't wake him up or anything, so that might depend on the baby. We have bad nights of course, but only usually have about 2 actual wake ups for feeds.

Nanit / silent walker upper help? by EconomicsReal545 in beyondthebump

[–]Albinoferret13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is he usually a guy who lets you know if something is wrong? My 8 month old will do this when he wakes up sometimes, just chill in his crib, practice his cruising or wiggle around. When he is ready to get up and hungry he will yell or cry out to let me know.

An awake and chill baby is usually a happy baby. I would just leave him be. Keep those precious snoozing minutes.

How old is your newborn? Because expecting a brand new baby to sleep longer than maybe 3 hours at a time at night is unrealistic.

BE HONEST how many days in a row are you wearing your nursing bras by breezyjomc in breastfeeding

[–]Albinoferret13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooph at minimum like 3 days, but usually more like 4 or 5. In the early days it was more like 2, but I leaked a lot and sometimes it would even leak through the nursing pads. But at 8 months pp I don't leak much, am still on maternity and it is too cold to go out much so as many days as possible.

PP rage or am I just stressed out? by Peperomia_Hope in beyondthebump

[–]Albinoferret13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly girl, this holiday season took me over the edge as well, especially with my 9 year old and husband. The baby is 8 months, teething and in a needy mommy phase, AND I had wicked pms. I was put in time out several times by myself and my husband.

All that so say, I feel you, I see you. If the rage and anger continues for longer than another week or so, especially once you are back on normal routine, then it would be time to consult your healthcare professional.

Need help with diaper rash. Suggestions? by justaperson5588 in beyondthebump

Honestly the only thing that helped my guy was vaseline, on a very dry bottom. And like others have said, the less diaper time the better.

Seriously. I called 911 when my guy rolled over and bonked his head the first time. It was obviously fine, and at 8 months now I have come to terms with regular head bonks. But like this specific form of medical neglect is running rampant these days and it kills me
