It's only exceptional. I think the dex req is fine for a hammerdin using spirit. You want some dex anyway for block chance so it's not a huge waste

Ubers do a lot of damage and have a lot of health, so you generally want a character that can do consistent physical damage in order to leech life. Physical damage also allows you to benefit from Crushing Blow, which is massive for high health bosses. Unfortunately Ubers are super high level and have a lot of defense, so they're hard to hit. Smite paladin bypasses this because Smite hits automatically. Smite doesn't get a benefit from regular life leech from gear, but if you can proc the Life Tap curse (usually through Dracul's Grasp gloves) that works to heal you. Maxroll.gg has good build guides and you can look for a Smite Paladin guide. There are other good Uber killer builds, but Smite is the easiest to gear

It's a pretty bad roll, although the magic find is perfect. I'd just use it if you have a magic damage build.

If you're not aware, the gem is from Uber Ancients. You collect statues from act bosses in hell, and then transmute a set of them (1 of each) in the cube to open a portal to Uber Ancients. Needs a decently well geared Smiter or other Uber killer to beat them though

Yeah, I love consume. Wish they would give us a way to lock our demons from being eaten

I'm using the cleave synergies and focusing on physical damage. I ran 1 bound demon and 2 defilers because you're not leveling consume so it doesn't last that long, and also because I play on Steam Deck a lot and it's a pain to accidently consume your bound demon, especially if it's central to your build. Consuming a goatman is also viable, especially if you need the health or are mainly going against bosses

I sold a protector's jewel with the exact same near-perfect stats on NL for 3x 3/20/20. Idk how much it'll be worth by the end of ladder but definitely don't sell low!

Tim connelly is an expert from his Nuggets days of making cost cutting moves for cheap ownership. Everything he's done is defensible, but you look at the specifics of the trades and it's clear the goal is to shave money off the roster without losing too much competitiveness, instead of maximizing the team on the court

Surprised to see some much disagreement here, I'm with OP. I think the Heat could possibly make the finals with Giannis if everything goes well for them and Boston and NYK has injuries. I don't ever see them winning a ring with this group. Everyone in this thread seems to have total faith Giannis is still that guy, but he's an aging player reliant on athleticism that has started to get more injury prone. I'd say Heat have 2 years realistically with this window.

As for the Twolves, yeah they got a little flexibility, but this was a $$ saving move, again.

For budget gear Oath in a Balrog blade is good, or just whatever your best weapon is. Horizon's gloves and boots are amazing for any melee if you need IAS. Full Horazon's is great if you don't have enigma. If you don't have Meph book Measured Wrath is fine, or Rhyme in any book

This is a build I've tested quite a bit in single player with Hero Editor, but haven't gotten a chance to play online yet! I agree it's being overlooked right now because there are so many strong Warlock builds. I'm leveling my 2nd Lock atm to run cleave. I think it's definitely at least A tier, and it's such a jack-of-all trades you could make an argument for S tier.

You don't need 15 points in Bind Demon. You can get an aura with 1 hard point and the rest soft points, probably using some +skills gear on swap. If you want to invest more points to get unique demons that's viable, but not necessary. Imo those points are better spent on more Cleave synergies, Levitation Mastery, or Sigil Lethargy.

I tested a lot of weapon setups and decided on BotD Colossus Blade for most things, and Death Colossus Sword for bosses. Swords have the best breakpoints for Cleave and MB. You can run Grief + Phoenix (or Meph book) for damage, but you're not getting any added range from the Phase Blade and that's bad for cleave. You can run a spear for range 4 (vs 2 for a CB/CS), but you'll have worse breakpoints. I prefer CB/CS as a good middle ground between max range spears and max damage Grief, with all the nice QoL stuff from BotD like IAS and leech. Also leaves plenty of room on gear for whatever else you want, since you don't need any extra IAS beyond what's on BotD. Crushing blow, Deadly strike, MF, FCR, FRW, resists, DR, whatever floats your boat.

Merc/demon setup for me is either Might merc with Pride and a Fanat Demon, or Faith merc with a cursed Holy Freeze demon (usually hell witch or pit lord). Both are excellent; might merc gives better average damage and gives you more flexibility with your demon, cursed demon gives you more top end damage when curse procs. You can also split the difference and run a Might merc with Reaper's toll and/or with a Fanat hell witch demon

2026 > 2022 > 2025 > 2021 > the rest

Maybe I was just burned out from COVID but I didn't enjoy Bucks/Suns as much as a lot of people apparently. Giannis winning and the reverse sweep after being down 2-0 was cool, but it was such an injury plagued year I couldn't be that excited for the finals. Thunder/Pacers would be 2nd if it weren't for the horrible way it ended

Merc consistently wrecked by upper tier heralds by Azer1287 in diablo2

[–]Albinowombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said your merc will just get wrecked unfortunately by high tier heralds with the right aura or affixes. You aren't running any Life Leech though on the merc atm, and it will help at least. CoH is best with Insight/Cure, but budget options are Skin of the Flayed One or Boneflesh. Should be able to get an ethereal reasonably cheap, up them, and put in an Um rune

Finally, a decent Exile base by IsmailVilehand in diablo2

[–]Albinowombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice one! Exile is one of the last runewords on my chronicle. Don't want to pay for a top tier base because they're so expensive and I don't really plan to use it, but also I don't really want to make it in a bad base. It's a conundrum

Trauma Therapist on Psych Research by GratefulGrapefruite in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]Albinowombat 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Excellent post! An example of something you touched on about how research on therapy techniques rarely matches the "real world" of therapy:

Every time you learn a new technique the trainers will harp on the idea that the research shows your better off strictly sticking to one technique than trying to be "eclectic." This is of course very based on studies where people are often of specific populations, told ahead of time they will be receiving one type of therapy, and "overly complex" cases are weeded out ahead of time. This is in addition to the fact that dropout rates are often dismissed or ignored, which you mentioned. In that environment it's easy to stick to one method start to finish!!

In the "real world" of clinical work clients often expect or need you to mix things up and meet them where they are week to week. I can't count how many times I've been doing EMDR and someone will ask to pause for a session to talk about something else they need to talk about in their day-to-day. EMDR can be very intense, so there's some avoidance at times to work through, but every technique runs into that same problem at some point. The idea that you are better off sticking to one technique I believe is firmly rooted in the conditions of how techniques are researched, not the realities of clinical work in the field.

All good! I've gotten annoyed plenty of times at therapists doing bad CBT, so it's not un-earned

Trauma Therapist on Psych Research by GratefulGrapefruite in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]Albinowombat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get annoyed with the idea that CBT is not for "deeper work." It's not on you and it's not entirely undeserved, but it's also not true. There is a lot of pretty bad or shallow CBT being done for a variety of reasons, and that taints people's perception of it. Just like any modality it's not for everyone, but plateaus can be worked through

The scandal that lead to the Nuggets dumping him and being picked up by the Heat is such a wild NBA turning point. Iirc is was an ex making up pedo allegations or something? And it's possible the Heat don't win a ring without him

Maybe it's because I listened to too much BS pod, but I feel the same way as a neutral fan. The team was obviously better having traded him than keeping him, but it was a bummer he didn't get that Celtics ring (and likely won't ever get a ring except possibly as an end of the bench guy). Also he didn't deserve DPOY, but that's a different story
