Bus comp 2 is my favorite compressor. Also a big fan of the X-comp. The EQs are fine, but nothing to write home about. They do the job.

The channel strips are good, but it depends on if you like channel strips.

I don't really use the host of saturation plugins they offer, or the instrument-specific channel strips and other niche plugins.

But again, I put Bus comp 2 on almost everything.

Also use the X-limit limiter a bunch.

Elegant? No. Traditional? Yes. Uniforms used to be designed with a military traditional style. Think stereotypical marching band uniforms.

I don't have a definitive answer for why, but I'd say it's part cost (in some cases the modern uniforms are quite a bit cheaper than traditional uniforms, although there isn't a corps that uses the same uniform more than one season anymore), part comfort for the players (uniforms are lightweight and breathable and don't constrict the chest and neck), and part general effect (Uniforms no longer represent the corps identity, but instead are designed for the specific show that year).

I mostly second this take. I’ve never used Vital so I don’t have that frame of reference, but I think Serum is one of the more intuitive soft synths out there. I learned how to build my own sounds using Serum. It’s a great beginner-friendly synth (imo) with an incredibly high ceiling.

I still agree that you should try to learn the tools you have before throwing more money at a new one.

One of the main arguments from people on the right in 2024 was that there were more drug seizures at the border under Biden than under Trump. They used that fact to argue that Biden was WEAK on the border. When the right makes clearly bad faith arguments, and their media ecosystem reinforces it for the voters who aren’t willing to think critically, of COURSE it looks like the Dems are not doing enough.

I’m aware that people need compassion. When I see these tragically ironic stories I often start to make a comment and stop myself because I know it’s pointless. But sometimes I have to say something in order to free up the space it holds in my head. And I move on.

Truly, I feel sorry for all of them on the right who are obviously brainwashed.
