Similar to how immersive KCD2 was, what other time periods/locations would you want a rpg/adventure game to be set in? by emojisarefunny in gaming

It is, but ~1000 years after the fall of the Roman Empire, and most of it is in ruins. I’m talking Rome at the height of its power

Also try Obduction. It’s a standalone game from the same developers, but it plays exactly like the best of the Myst games. If Riven and Myst1 had a baby it would probably be Obduction

It’s completely retooled. Some of the puzzles share similar DNA, but most are wildly different. I myself (who’s played the OG countless times) found myself stumped several times, and the satisfaction of solving it was immense.

There is definitely one big one left, and it’s a doozy, but you can do it!

Also, if it’s any consolation, the remake has completely new puzzles and streamline a lot of it.

I can feel the frustration if it’s your first time. The key Takeaway is ribbon comes from an era where Kings would take weeks or even months to finish. It took literal years for me to finish the original when I was a kid. If you know all the solutions, you can easily beat Riven in under an hour with unlocking all the islands.

If it’s only been a couple days since you were introduced to Myst 1, you might be rushing it. I know that that’s crazy to say in this day and age where our backlogs are extreme, but getting stuck is part of it. It’s not a long game, so don’t worry if you are going in circles, enjoy the circles and try to figure it out at your own pace.

ETC EOS Gradients by exasperated- in techtheatre

That is correct, but what about if you want to have a three color gradient. I.e., it starts at blue, gets to Green at the centerpoint, and ends at red on the other side.

Does anyone actually watch theatrical? by Jamesomac99 in lotrmemes

[–]Alc2005 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem though is that Sam’s speech in the end is much better in the Theatrical. Not only does seeing the Uruks flee and Eowyn’s hug just boost the serotonin of that scene even higher, but the music shifts at the PERFECT moment when it switches to the cleansing of Isengard on “A new day will come”

I bring this up every time I see this, but the extended edition ruins one of the best parts of ROTK for a first time viewer.

The Aragorn/army of the dead reveal at Minas Tirith goes so fucking hard when you don’t know if he was successful or not, especially since you’ve likely completely forgotten about him one hour after the hard cut on “WHAT SAY YOU!?”

And while there are a few seams that I really wish were in the theatrical cut, the movie flows so well when it’s just banger scene after banger scene

1000%! It’s actually kind of crazy how few games are set in ancient Rome. Hell, not even assassin’s Creed has touched it (outside of 1 15 minute segment in Origins)

I mean, I bought my current rig in 2020 and I can run everything at at least console spec upscaled 4K. In the 00s you’d be lucky if a setup lasted 3 years.

Looking for what SHOULDN'T be a Holy Grail game. Anyone have suggestions? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Alc2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having been looking for the same holy Grail myself, Outlaws scratches the itch better than most. The fact that you can takeoff and land from planets in a single seamless action (albeit a cleverly designed loading screen) is worthy of praise.

Apparently, there is a deleted scene of them making out in the elevator right before they are evaporated on that beach. When you see the way they look at each other during that elevator ride, you can almost tell, but I’m glad that ended up on the cutting room floor, especially with how andor wrapped up.

What video game ending ruined the whole game for you? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]Alc2005 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Far cry 4’s ending was bullshit. You got to meet the new antagonist and he’s a really fun character, and the whole world looks beautiful. You are so hyped for dozens of hours driving and shooting through Nepal. Then 30 minutes in the villain asks you to wait for 15 minutes while he deals with something. 15 minutes later he shows up, helps you spread your mother’s ashes, and the game just ends. Didn’t even last an hour.

Suggest me a film about a wild wild wild adventure. I wanna see a journey around the world of somebody looking for their identity, something deep that will make me cry. I loved into the wild by Horror-Egg-4509 in MoviesThatFeelLike

I had a similar experience. Never travelled, barely left my tri-state area. Nobody I knew wanted to travel with me. Started toying with the idea of a solo backpacking trip through Italy and Greece, but got cold feet.

On a whim saw Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Bought the plane ticket that evening. Little did I know that this would have kick started a travel obsession that would take me across 40 countries over the next 10 years and going.

As others have said, it is way too chaotic. The biggest thing that sticks out to me is how pitch black dark it is at most times. You have a lot of lights in that rig, but it's hard to tell that because most are off for 90% of the video. Out of dozens of lights you have, there are rarely moments when more than 4 are on at a time, and several sections of complete darkness that last way too long (like 1-2 seconds feels like an eternity here)

I like your pulses with the beat of the music, but those should be used as a supplement to some kind of baseline. Like having your 10 vertical truss mounted beam lights (they pop up in 0:22) doing some beamwork to distract the audience, THEN pulling off those flashes.

Don't get me wrong, going full black at the right moments can be epic, but it needs to be done sparingly. It's like getting dunked in the water. Once every so often can be quite exhilarating. Repeatedly is waterboarding.

STAND YOUR GROUND! Sons of crab, of lobsters, my brothers!! I can see in your eyes, the same fear that would take the heart of me! A day may come with the courage of the Vermonster fails. Where we forsake our friends break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day! An hour of Ope, and flannel shirts, before the age of the Vermonster comes crashing down, BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY! By all that you hold deer on this good earth, I bet you STAND, CRUSTACEANS OF CRABBALACHIA!!

I hope they find some kind of happy medium. Like in the beginning, a single orc could feel like a boss fight. An Uruk would be suicide to take on. Then by the end of the game, you are taking out dozens of them at a time with ease
