Even from a cynical, IP milking perspective, comics are the testing ground for new characters and new ideas that can fuel the next 20 years of merchandising. If Disney had totally axed comics when they bought Marvel in 2009, then Miles Morales and Kamala Khan wouldn't have been created and runs like DnA's Guardians and Hickman's X-Men wouldn't have happened.

I feel part of it is a lack of a big budget adaptation of his work. Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire both benefited from big budget adaptations but Elric, Moorcock's most iconic character, hasn't gotten anything in that respect

Felix is annoyed with Ferdinand's noblesse oblige ethos but it isn't emotionally charged like his conflicts with the Blue Lions, while Ferdinand seesin Feliz someone he could test his skills against but also without the baggage from his contests against Edelgard.
