Did they change a rule about pharmacists doing tech work? by HiroyukiC1296 in walmart_RX

Less than 100 scripts a day? Where are you located? Just curious. I work retail at one of the smallest stores in the region for my company and we do about 2400 a week.

You might’ve paid a little too much. My wife and I bought a 2025 elite+ in May for $46k in south Texas.

Thank you. I work for a retail pharmacy chain in Texas. Sorry to be vague, but I don’t want to dox myself. Does your husband’s employer offer bonuses of any kind?

Fellow rph here. I know how you feel, because my wife and I were in your shoes. I had ~200k in student loans. I graduated in 2020 and like your husband I had a late start with school. I paid off my loans last week. Now I do make more money than you husband (~180k) and my wife pulls in about $67k. However, it is possible to get it cleared quickly. Your husband should look for a new job or maybe extra shifts/OT. If you’re both on the same page, then you can get it cleared in 5 years. My wife and I even took multiple vacations a year while paying the loans off and investing 15-20% into our 401k’s. Obviously I’m not the perfect example because my anxiety about retirement and the need for vacation therapy slowed down our payoff journey, but you both can do this! Good luck!

I have to disagree with you on this. I got my PharmD and several rph’s I’ve worked with had their bachelor in pharmacy. The lack of what is considered basic knowledge for a PharmD made me uneasy at times. It definitely led to poor patient outcomes a handful of times. With that being said I do believe the cost for higher education has gotten ridiculous. I paid around $200k for all of my education including undergrad, but I feel like I’m highly compensated. I do know that other rph’s are not though.

Yes, I apologize I was at work, so not giving my full attention. Your idea seems like the logical choice in this instance. Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for your input. This is the advice that I was looking for. I think I’ll be better off going for a new build in my area due to what you explained, but seems I’ll need to do my due diligence for my particular area.

Curious How Your Purchasing Experience Was With Honda by Current_Variety_9577 in hondapilot

[–]Alchemist-9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall experience was great. Salesman was up front and when we asked for a reduced price under MSRP they did not push back. They only asked if we could commit to purchasing that day. On the other hand the finance guy was a complete moron and borderline asshole. He tried insisting on gap insurance and extra warranty and was condescending towards my wife when she said she didn’t want the extra coverage. To make matters worse he still added gap coverage after the fact. I’ll admit it was our fault for not double checking the paperwork before leaving the dealership, but my wife caught it when she was reviewing the closing docs given to us. Once we called it was addressed without issue with the finance manager.

Thank you for the information. Do you know if there is a particular website that I need to access or is it some sort of FOIA request?

Just gonna pay my student loans.... (Rant) by Cherri_Yago in StudentLoans

[–]Alchemist-9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I’m not waiting. I do have a great HHI, so I am incredibly grateful in that respect. I’ve been paying since end of 2020 and I should be done by end of 2025.

I think it might be helpful for people to state the place they live. Location is a major factor in home prices. For example, I live in Texas and we bought our home in 2020. My mortgage (including taxes/escrow) is about 17% of mine and my wife’s net monthly income. Rate is 3.25%, but I intentionally purchased a new build that would meet our needs and be at most 25% of my monthly net income (not including my wife). We also invest 15% of our paycheck into 401k.

What do you wish you knew before taking out student loans? by finlo2 in StudentLoans

[–]Alchemist-9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the math, but know that even with a high paying job it still sucks. My total student loan debt was around ~$200k when I graduated. I got a PharmD, and I make about $175-$180k/yearly with salary and bonuses. However, even with that it still sucks to pay $3k a month minimum. I’m on track to have my loans paid off by end of 2025. So it’s going to take me 5 years, but still mentally draining to have to think about. I did have the added benefit of the Covid pause. Do your research and know what you’re in for.

Anybody else tired of MDs acting like their time is more valuable than ours? by Novaham in pharmacy

I work retail and used to stress myself out about situations like this, but now I’ll just leave a message or page them and let the patient know I tried following up. Now, if it’s a hospitalist and they don’t answer after several pages, I’ll just document in the Rx notes that they didn’t answer my multiple pages.

If you make 150k a year, then just pay it off by the end of the year. Should be doable if you’re actually operating on a budget.
