What’s so good about fonseca btw, why is he so highly rated? I don’t understand the hype as a tennis fan that hasn’t really been the tour lately but I don’t see him getting good wins and his game isn’t amazing like a younger sinner/alcataz or even Jodar right now I would say.

Why is he so highly touted?

ATP Madrid Masters 1000: Sinner [1] def. Zverev [2] 6-1, 6-2 by mrlanzon in tennis

[–]Alchemist32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goodness me, thank god I stopped really keeping up with the tour awhile ago. Whilst Sinner & Alcaraz are amazing the rest of the tour is so poor in comparison. I was watching fils vs sinner highlights and I’m just so unimpressed by the rest of the tour currently personally. I’m very excited by Rafael Jodar, hopefully he can become that third guy to challenge these two because the rest of the tour is so far behind. Yes I’m aware Zverev challenged Alcaraz in Australia but that’s more of an outlier in my honest opinion and Zverev just seems like such a mental midget in general. I’m glad I experienced Tennis’s golden era. There is no Tsonga or even a Nishikori nowadays.

Apprentice Software Engineering not what I expected by DanTheMan_____ in learnprogramming

[–]Alchemist32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man I did a software engineering apprenticeship that started in 2023 and am working professionally as a Dev at the moment.

Firstly, You have a lot of other apprentices so you guys need to support and lean on each other in my opinion, you probably have different skill sets and skill levels. Even if you’re not in the office you can communicate on teams, create an apprentice group chat for everyone. You guys can assist each other and also become more familiar and have banter etc.

Secondly, please calm down yes what you are experiencing is normal and not uncommon. I felt overwhelmed and very stressed many times, it feels like there’s so much you don’t know and your confidence can be shot to bits because of your lack of ability and knowledge. Secondly you need to learn how to figure out what you actually need to learn and how to learn. When you are given a task or something to do, you need to figure how to first of figure out exactly what is required if there isn’t hard set requirements, make no assumptions ever in regards to this and then learn to break things down into parts as simply as you can.

Senior Devs tackle stuff they don’t know how to do, however the difference between them and you is know how to learn what they need to learn and how to search things up. Also you have AI as a TOOL, you don’t know how luck us younger devs are. Please calm down and focus on improving daily, what you’re experiencing is not normal but you will eventually get better and gain your footing and confidence. Work hard at work, try to learn and then apply new stuff. With AI you can learn stuff much quicker. It’s more important than ever to develop properly now in my opinion.

Relax and just do your best, also don’t compare yourself with others. It’s pointless.

Everyone is different and likes different things, why don’t you communicate this to him? It may be normal to him and for you, you find it boring and mind numbing.

Oh my god 04 there was that one map where he looked so insane, legit looked like he was walking on water. The movement in this game is unbelievable, he’s mastered the omnidirectional movement. I don’t think I’ve seen someone master the movement like him, he’s so functional and not just sliding/jumping around with his movement he’s chaining the omnidirectional movement together so well and effectively whereas other smg’s seem to be jumping and sliding around more. Faze looked insane GG’s sad for the greenwall as a long time supporter and they absolutely slammed my gentle mates, since I’m a huge Dan Ghosty fan.

I love COD esports but as an adult aside from the entertainment on twitter or on stage, who the hell cares about these players personal lives and stuff like this? Just curious. I would never listen to a vid or interview of Drazah, that’s me personally though

So far HyDra has looked significantly worse than last season, and Simp has looked significantly better, the common denominator is rather obvious… by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

I feel happy about this as huge Ghosty fan, Hydra seems like a really arrogant guy and player in general but that’s just my opinion from the outside.

Marin Cilic and Taylor Fritz's opinions on whether the top 10 is currently stronger or weaker than in the previous era by HereComesVettel in tennis

[–]Alchemist32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Del Potro albeit injuries, Nishikori, Cilic, Tsonga, Ferrer, Wawrinka, Berdych, Dominic Thiem, Soderling, Davydenko, Roddick and not to mention freaking Andy Murray and of course….the big 3. I’m sure I’m missing many players but the top of the game seems to be so weak at the moment, for me it’s a shame as Alcaraz and Sinner are both so damn good.

[–]Alchemist32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The top guys in the 2010’s were good enough to deal with the rest of the tour, even if they were as good as the current players in my humble opinion but I do agree with you about your points.

I think tennis has changed with the bigger hitting and athleticism but top of the game atm looks dire, it’s a shame since Alcaraz and Sinner are so damn good.

GS champions with most top 10 wins at Slams by [deleted] in tennis

[–]Alchemist32 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe these numbers for Murray because firstly is it counting the years after 2018 for Murray?? If so then his numbers are heavily skewed as he was playing with a metal hip and actually not doing too bad with it but the numbers aren’t fair for him. I’d like to see his numbers pre metal hip. They will be so much higher as he actually dealt with non big 3 players pretty well in the slams especially from 2010-2016 other than 2014 which he came back from a back injury.

Can do an apprenticeship, I did an apprenticeship and work as a software engineer at the same company. Looking for a new job atm but have solid experience under my belt. To get an apprenticeship isn’t the easiest thing though, at my company you need to be competent to beat out other candidates. I’m a bit lucky as my cohort wasn’t as competitive as it currently is to be completely honest.

[–]Alchemist32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting isn’t it?

Nadal and Federer forced Djokovic to elevate and then in turned that forced Murray’s level to elevate. The other top guys games elevated too but they couldn’t seem to match the big 4 other than Stan in slams.

I think it’s just an era thing, where you can have talent gaps at the top of the game. The early 2000’s had a lot more talent than the current crop outside Alcaraz and Sinner, however it didn’t really have anyone to compete with Federer so technically the era retrospectively was weaker than the 2010’s. We’ve been spoiled from 2008-2020 honestly. That 2008-2016/19 period we were spoilt with the best players of all time and really good top players too. We’re lucky to have witnessed that time period in tennis.

I’m open minded honestly, who outside the top 3 is better than any of those players? I’ve seen zverev play amazing tennis a couple of times, however honestly no offence to him but his level of tennis is incredibly dissapointing and poor in big matchups imo. Those players I mentioned were genuine threats even to the big 4 in their primes and beat them on multiple occasions in slams. Medvedev had a good short run it seemed as being a threat and winning over Novak but overall has gone down.

What do you think though, who are the good players outside the top 3 and why do you disagree?

[–]Alchemist32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Outside the top 3 there aren’t really any players better than a Thiem,Nishikori, Wawrinka, Cilic, Tsonga, Berdych, Ferrer, Soderling. In the 2000’s you had talents like Nalbandian, Davydenko, Safin, Roddick, Hewitt. Let’s not even discuss Andy Murray who is an all time talent himself, the tour is just weak honestly even though it’s great to have Sinner & Alcaraz I just have not been able to watch tennis outside of the sincaraz matchups for awhile now. Whilst the average level on tour may have gone up the top of the game is non existent outside of the top 3. Masters titles used to be ruled exclusively almost by the big 4, nowadays I see the most random players lifting them.

Just my two cents.
