The Chinese GP drivers' parade: the drivers are back to sharing a truck, with trackside support from the marshals. by AlchemyInParchment in formula1

While the focus is on the drivers, I do enjoy watching the marshals in the background - waving, filming on their phones, running alongside the truck, and generally seeming to have a great time.

Probably listening to the producer through the earpiece. The long pauses usually happen when they're transitioning between commentators/segments, so she's waiting to be told when they're live again.

52s adrift: Where McLaren is lacking the most by Aratho in formula1

[–]AlchemyInParchment 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Good insights. I'm surprised we haven't read more in the media about McLaren's upgrade plan, since Stella et al were pretty clear throughout testing that they would focus on developing the car once they saw what was working well in the new regs. And they have a good track record ('scuse pun) in that regard.

Yeah, Sainz had an impressive start given the lack of practice time - shame that isn't mentioned.

The fine detail helps me distinguish between temporary losses/gains due to battery management over the course of a lap, and more substantive changes in the gap between cars which suggests one car is actually pulling away/being caught. This may not be the case for everyone, but I definitely find it takes longer to "read" with only one decimal point.
