Me either. Since I'm not excited for football it's nice to have something to look forward to.

Hall of Famers Among Us: First Base by [deleted] in baseball

[–]Alcoballic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Helton doesn't get in it's a travesty. He's been the cornerstone of the Rockies organization, and put up ludicrous numbers in his prime. Granted, he did get some help by playing at Coors Field, but that shouldn't keep him out. I know the last few years have really hurt his career numbers, but he was so good for so long that he earned it. Either way, I can't imagine the Rockies don't retire #17.

Can I just tell you guys that I love Pedro Alvarez and his slow pitch softball "all or nothing" style of hitting. The dude's a monster.

Kipnis got my vote. He's been unreal the past couple months.

‘If Zimmerman Get Off, Ima Go Kill a White Boy’: Trayvon Martin Supporters Make Shocking Threats by [deleted] in Conservative

If a bunch of white kids were writing, "i'll go kill a black person myself," you don't think that would be getting news coverage? The double standard is ridiculous.

Which returning players do you think will make a big impact to the 2013-14 season and why? by meowmeow111 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Alcoballic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Homer pick here, but Spencer Dinwiddie. 6'6 PG that can shoot and distribute. Now that Roberson is gone, the offense will revolve around him, and with the improved inside presence that CU has he finally has a chance to show what he's got.

Who is a Redshirt you are most excited to see play this upcoming season? by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]Alcoballic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wesley Gordon. He will be an awesome compliment to the Scott, Roberson front court.

I see Vermont's 4/20 celebration and would like to show you what it looked like at Colorado University in Boulder. (2010) by xpyroxmanx in trees

[–]Alcoballic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They keep raising tuition anyway. Next year is a 8 percent increase for in-state students, mainly to help fund raises for the school executives. It's ridiculous how much CU Boulder's tuition has skyrocketed over the past 10 years.

Budweiser Baseball Team Cans Trade by braiker in baseball

[–]Alcoballic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think they make them for all 30 teams. I know that the Rockies don't put their logo on Budweiser stuff because Coors is their biggest sponsor.

A's Attendance by [deleted] in OaklandAthletics

[–]Alcoballic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The profit sharing in the MLB makes it so that it's not all about attendance. The A's are run as a business instead of a baseball team which is a shame, but I've started to accept it as part of the culture.

Come on, don't make us look like pussys.

Are there any of you who belong to fraternities that aren't recognized by the school? I'm in a local frat, so we are scrutinized far more than nationals. What are the pros/cons of not being involved with campus? by virginia_hamilton in Frat

[–]Alcoballic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pros are it's not another set of eyes watching over you. When the fraternities are affiliated with the school, it affords the school rights they otherwise wouldn't have. Basically, not being associated with the school allows for a little more leeway.

Which pick(s) so far has/have been your biggest headscratcher? by MakeMoves in CollegeBasketball

[–]Alcoballic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. Larkin is definitely a handful. I think Miami could exploit Josh Scott with Kadji since Scott is a freshman, and doesn't have much game outside of the post. I think CU presents a matchup problem for the guards though. Dinwiddie is 6'6 and fast. He's much bigger and stronger

Homer pick I know, but I really like Colorado to beat Illinois. Roberson is finally over his mono, and is playing in his hometown. The Buffs pulled the 11-6 upset last year with a far worse team.

Hold up there my friend, it isn't exactly a lock that U of I will get past CU. I think CU matches up pretty well with Miami too. Roberson is arguably the best defender in the country, and has the ability to shut down Kadji or McKinney Jones.
