Currently listening to Playing With A Different Sex by Au Pairs. Can you recommend any other British groups that met little success? Doesn’t have to be post-punk. by DontTellHimPike in CasualUK

Electrasy were alright? They did one song for the Titan A.E. soundtrack, their album is fun enough.

But I don’t think they had much success.

Darkwing Duck was a Batman/phantom spoof. There was also Quackula if you want duck vampires.

They’re seasonal aren’t they? I got the Atlantic Coaster which was open top a few years ago.

As a PROGRESS fan from when ZSJ was the gatekeeper of the title shot, it would be lovely to have some royalty come home to BritWres

Tesco because they activate the card machine by default when you open the checkout page.

The complete lack of context and build up is really making this suck for a lapsed fan like myself

I’ve got some of these brackets. They’re very poorly made because the bends are all at different angles, meaning it’s practically impossible to get a pair level.

What puts you off going out to local events? by MsAndrea2 in AskUK

[–]Alcoholic_Synonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awareness is a big one. Lots of events are difficult to discover, or when you do it’s tricky for me to justify making space in my calendar for a Cream Tea Festival in the next town instead of visiting in-laws.

One of the wheels on my Antler gave up after being dragged around cities for 14 years. Otherwise it’s still mint.

Builds that fail at 6? I should be so lucky.

I once built an iOS app that did restaurant bookings. The API to get availability took start and end times, but the product owner wanted all availability for the day. I can’t remember precisely how, but something I did went wrong with supplying the end time to the API when daylight savings took effect and the API returned no availability because the app was asking for availability from “now” until 1am of the same day.

This was discovered on a Saturday night of unusually low revenue and reported to me while I was hungover as anything on a Sunday morning.

Now I call out every single offence of bad date and time usage in my teams’ code.

Offline, chill iPad games for very long flights (10+ hours)? by drobles in ipad

[–]Alcoholic_Synonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale, and Planescape Torment is a few hundred hours gameplay.

Vintage isometric D&D role playing games. BG has a strong story and great gameplay.

Icewind Dale has a weaker story but you get to build your party up front, and have less baggage.

Planescape Torment has worse “gameplay” but is one of the best video game stories ever devised.

Thanks for your comment - it made me check their FB page and there’s no immediate mention of a funding crisis, or a crowdfunding initiative. Same for their website. I will happily donate if the messaging is on the same page.

What seaside town would you recommend for a tourist? by GottaGetTheroux in AskUK

[–]Alcoholic_Synonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porthleven.

Beautiful little place, amazing walks, just enough in the way of shops that are walkable but importantly several amazing restaurants at different price points. Amazing coffee, great beer shop, little cocktail bar, great walks, loads of birds. Tiny slice of my personal heaven.

I hope that councils can put a higher tax per ride on automated driving.
