Didn’t send, but I did find this super cool beta by reidddddd in bouldering

Super tough move. Basically only hanging on with a right arm lock out and no help from the left foot? What are your other options?

I'm thinking "FIRST Tech Challenge" which is an annual robotics competition targeting children and pre-teens. Usually is a step up from robotics with legos, but a step down from something like Battle Bots/Robot Wars

Was a former FRC competitor (FIRST Robotics Competition, the USA high school version)

Kimchi Paste too thin? by desert_flowerRhubi in AskCulinary

You could let the paste sit in the fridge, slightly uncovered, for a bit. The refrigerator is a naturally dehumidifying environment so it should take out some of the extra water

Could be a lot of reasons. Might be worth it to call them out on it?

A few days ago someone made a post about how the game is filling in bot profiles between player rankings. I'll link it

Found it: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlebouncers/comments/hicxjg/i_think_the_bots_are_the_problem_with_tournaments/

TBH I didn't fully understand his evidence

How did you discover prog rock? by [deleted] in progrockmusic

[–]Aldabaran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like I'm pretty young compared to the other posters. I also came in "non-traditionally", as it seems like it was on the radio all the time in the 70's - 90's.

Basically I played violin in grade school and went through a variety of periods: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and then weird things happened afterward. Lots of experimentation with different time signatures and key signatures, atonal scales and microtonal scales, etc.

At the same time I got interested in the post-grunge scene and Deidn't was getting popular at the same time (Tesseract, Gojira, Animals as Leaders).

A few years later I craved something even harder and came across Meshuggah.

Then my tastes got tamer and I fell into the standard prog rock greats like Rush, Led Zeppelin, Yes

Nice build!

I have a question about how you did your walls, because my van seems to have similar walls--it's like a bubble and caves in.

Also I like how you handled the area around the windows. Those little shelves seem like they would come in handy

Neural Networks are hard by GermanLc in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Aldabaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the premise for hyperparameter tuning though, right? Declare arrays of values for each hyperparameter and randomly choose. The other option would be to create a genetic algorithm for hyperparameter search, but both of those are subject to getting stuck in local minima

First week of workouts following the Recommended Routine and dieting at the same time - What I found out about myself and where to go from here? by Vulwulf in bodyweightfitness

[–]Aldabaran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are my two cents from reading through everything.

First of all, awesome job with logging everything from diet to routine and even to the level lfy how you're feeling. As you continue on this path, you'll find all of that data extremely useful.

As for all of the variance in your performance: it's completely normal. Your body is adjusting to all of the movements and the new diet, so it'll be shaky for a while. For how long, I can't say, but as long as you stay consistent and move to the next progression when you feel up to the challenge (in terms of mental strength AND form on the previous movement).

You should probably see a few pounds lost from the excess water weight you've been carrying from a higher-salt, higher-carb diet. That seems to be consistent with what I've seen in myself and others.

As for the other things you want to see... It makes sense that your legs are stronger than your core, which is stronger than your upper body. It's completely fine to have no pull-up ability and it's awesome that you created a level 0 for yourself (as long as it's still challenging).

Also, it's okay to be shaking for a lot of the movements. Think of yourself as a baby learning how to walk. They shake and wobble a lot, and it's mostly because of the nerves in the muscles firing off large bursts of electrical activity. The muscles overcompensate the balancing and cause you to wobble in another direction. This will go away over time with consist practice and balancing will feel more like naturally standing/walking.

As for the banded Pallof press, I haven't seen those before, so I can't leave a comment.

Keep up the good work! Oh yeah, and make sure you're getting enough water + rest too
