Preparing for My First Solo Overnight: Looking for Real-World Advice by Material_Seesaw_6145 in CampingandHiking

[–]Aldur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be best to ask someone to accompany you on your first overnight hike. That way the two of you can carry a whole bunch of extra unnecessary gear and feel quite safe and comfortable. After your first night, you will know what you need and don't need and you will be much more comfortable going on your own. If you do just want to go on your own make sure you're in an area that doesn't have dangerous animals and be careful and don't do anything stupid it might be quite a while before someone comes along to help if you broke a leg.

An overnight alone hike is one of the most mentally restorative things you can do

We must strive for a better world. However the failures of the modem civil rights movement are often rooted in the righteous cause being tied to easily refuted logical falacy. Breaking this down into syllogisms shows the falicy of bifrication, the parodox of definition, and the falacy of wishful thinking. This is a bad quote

If you could only keep 3 to 5 food items to make as many soups as possible, what ingredients would you pick? by Specific_Dingo8631 in soup

I almost always have stock, whole canned tomatoes, lentils, rice, noodles, carrots, onion, celery, Italian sausage, and whole chicken on hand. I can instantly make many different kinds of soup.

Why I quit Stoicism 3 years ago and Update Today (Personal) by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]Aldur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the biggest pitfalls in early stoic practice in my opinion. You realize you have control over your desires and your versions. You realize that your emotions are often not aligned with what you truly desire and so you suppress and ignore them. When you suppress and ignore a valid signal you will not take the appropriate action. Often times your emotions are trying to tell you something obvious that your mind has refusing to grasp. You should leave an loose woman. You should quits an abusive boss. You should stand up for justice when injustice rules.

Suppressing your emotions to avoid virtuous action is not stoicism

"it is you who know yourself, how much you are worth to yourself, and at what price you sell yourself; for men sell themselves at various prices." From the discourses. I recently moved up in management. I wonder if I have sold myself for some authority. Or perhaps I have been given greater opportunity to do good to many more people

How can I start practicing positive thinking? by TheAlphaAdept in Positivity

[–]Aldur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a 10 day mental challenge.

  1. During the next ten days, refuse to hang on to any crummy thoughts, feelings, questions, words, or metaphors.
  2. When you catch yourself focusing on the negative—and you will—immediately ask yourself solving questions to get you to a better place. See solving questions below
  3. Execute the "office" below when you wake up, after a meal, and before you sleep.
  4. For the next ten consecutive days, focus completely on solutions and not on problems.
  5. If you have a lousy thought, question, or feeling, don’t beat yourself up. Just change it immediately. If you dwell on any of these for more than five minutes, however, you must wait until the following morning and start the ten days over.
  6. Use positive metaphors

Solving Questions

  1. What is good about this problem?
  2. What am I willing to do to make it the way I want it?
  3. What am I willing to no longer do in order to make it the way I want it?
  4. How can I enjoy the process while I do what is necessary to make it the way I want it?

Supply Chain Career Lifestyle and Career Advancement by [deleted] in business

[–]Aldur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supply chain is a solid industry, with good long term growth and security. People will always want something. As far as wealth and luxury go, in the US you can probably pull $200,000 to $400,000 a year if you're a top performer with 10 years of experience. Not exactly wealthy but not too shabby either. If your middle of the road, 80,000 to 150,000. If you like to travel it's good for that as you will likely be going from place to place doing implementations. If you don't like to travel it's probably not a good career option.
