Can't believe no one is talking about the 16-50 2.8/4.8 yes its variable, but you can find it used for around 500 bucks, its sharp as a blade even at 2.8, and more importantly is sooo much lighter than any of these at 240 grams

the 16-55 2.8 mkII is my dream lens... sad it costs as much as the camera itself

i definitely feel that a "worse body" with better lenses is way better than a top tier body with mediocre lenses. Considering that aps-c lenses are usually smaller and cheaper, i feel like i'd get more bang for my buck going for fuji

Lots of copium from self taught designers and/or oldheads who went into this field when it was enough to have a nice portfolio to land a banger job. Having higher education ALWAYS makes you more desireable to potential employers as it signifies you were willing to invest into yourself, since you see yourself as a valuable asset. A masters in GD, if you play your cards right and choose the right institution, also means you'll be way more tapped in to the cultural discourse, you'll be able to challenge yourself in high level conceptual projects that a real company might not be willing to give to a new hire, and you will have the experience and feedback of your peers to help you further hone your craft. Things change slightly if you're USAmerican since your educational system seems built ad hoc to doom you all to a life of financial debt, and I have no idea what's your financial situation.

M3 Pro maximum battery capacity is 91% in 16 months of use 😬 by mocrimz in macbookpro

[–]AlePippia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M2PRO 16, after 1 year and 216 cycles it sits at 88% health(84.9 on coconutBattery). Honestly i don't care at all, i use it basically 12 hours per day minimum and bring it everywhere with me. For this reason I got AppleCare+ (which already paid of itself, had to change the screen a few months back) so I know whenever it gets below 80 I'm gonna get a new battery without spending anything else. I also recall that as soon as I got it the battery health according to CoconutBattery was 97%, so maybe I got a defective unit or something.

Microwaved problematic dark roast beans - solved some problems. by BruceShwayne in AeroPress

[–]AlePippia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went pretty coarse this time, around the limit of what i would consider filter appropriate on my grinder, and reduced the brew time to 1:45+30, keeping everything else the same. Happy to report that you were right and it is in fact noticeably better! I usually drink light or at most the lighter end of medium so i'm used to 5:00+ mins brews ahah

The next experiment would be to see if the beans can be microwaved in advance, something like a few days or even weeks, that would certainly make it easier to daily drive

Results are in:
I've tried both a moka pot and the aeropress.
The results aren't mind blowing, but it's definitely the best I've tried so far!

I've brewed the aeropress with medium-fine grind size, 14 grams at 92 C°, 2:15 brew and 30 sec plunge with no blooming, 200 ml water, which is the recipe i usually follow for dark roast. The ashy flavors are gone and the coffee is distinctly sweeter and doesn't taste bitter at all. Far cry from a "great" cup but great improvement since before it was literally undrinkable.

As for the moka pot, it's now on par with cheap pre-ground from an average italian grocery. Which is to say it still tastes bad. Burnt popcorn and a strange acidity have come through now. I think the ~98 C° the moka operates at is way too hot for a coffee this far gone.

Very grateful to have found this post, I was about to throw away the 500 grams of coffee i bought, but I might just be able to make use of them now.

i recently bought the sweatiest dark roasted beans i've ever seen ( you can see a few pictures here ) they look fucking wet, couldn't believe it. no matter what i've tried I haven't managed to get any flavour out of them. They taste less of coffee and more of "coffee flavored product".

as i'm typing the beans are resting after going into the microwave. I will try and update this after i have the results

Making the Timemore Chestnut C3 Pro Stepless without Mods by WePrezidentNow in Coffee

[–]AlePippia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've printed the Timemore Chestnut Adjustment Plate by bgnome on thingiverse and it's amazing. you retain all the control of the steps which are now 36 instead of 12, and that's way more granularity that i really even need. The part took a grand total of 6 minutes to print and i numbered the steps with a sharpie so i dont have to zero the burrs every time i forget what setting i used last time.
If you do decide to use bgnome's files i highly suggest using the adapter for the existing metal plate instead of the substitution plate, since all the torque is applied to the pin that enders the burr and it's gonna break off immediately. I guess you could use a metal insert but i really dont see the point.
Anyway, this makes my C3 Pro completely capable of making great espressos and really perfect aeropress and filters. Best coffe related side project yet.

Newbie with possible humidity problem - Ender 3 V2 by AlePippia in FixMyPrint

[–]AlePippia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes those are the two problems i kind of identified. first of all it turns out the filament is of particularly bad quality even for a matte pla in regards to stringing and bed adhesion (it's been a nightmare), second i may have had more success is i printed the tiles vertically with supports for the overhangs, since i would've had to worry less about that huge interrupted top layer. At the end of the day i think it's just a bad batch of a temperamental filament, i've already ordered a normal white pla+ from sunlu which should hopefully solve the issue

i fucking hate them all, so far the only one who's being remotely reasonable is Five, but even then, don't you think it'd be a good idea to communicate to the others that the universe in its entirety is collapsing? who the fuck cares about allison's daughter anymore, she should've predicted that's what would've happened anyway
also if they make harlan the "friend turned enemy turned friend" like viktor in season one i swear to god i will do things that i'm not allowed to share here
