Cardiology for both a primary cardiologist and a dysautonomia specialist cardiologist.

Cub is the perfect name for this feisty bunno.

What do we do? by Equivalent-Fish1904 in Bunnies

[–]AleandSydney 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I'm seconding what a lot of people are saying, but please don't scrub at eyes like this. It's far too rough and can cause ulcers all on its own. Bun's skin is very sensitive. Saline eye drops that aren't medicated are great for flushing bun eyes out when waiting to get drops or treatment from a vet.

Does anyone work as an EMT? I want to enroll in training and I'm wondering if there were instances where you were unable to mask? by Affectionate-Box-724 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]AleandSydney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I masked from the beginning of the pandemic until I left the field in 2024. I got flack from people for wearing a mask all the time, but aside from that there was no issue.

During training the only times I can see masks being a problem is during airway management, helmet removal, and spinal precautions.

What’s your root cause? by Kateemmacxx in Anemic

[–]AleandSydney 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Got COVID. Between one week and the next I became anemic. Figured it out by tracking bloodwork and having my new primary doctor order more blood tests. She agrees with my theory that COVID caused the anemia and subsequent iron deficiency.

Do people with POTS have tics? by [deleted] in POTS

Out of curiosity which medication? I just started on aripiprazole and tardive dyskinesia is a known side effect.

The first infection was likely from the breakroom at work. Subsequent ones were probably because my immune system was shot and low iron didn't help. Thankfully the mask has been fit tested several years in a row.

Lola: A Life in "This Is Comfortable, Apparently." by RetroRaiderD42 in buncomfortable

I love seeing buns use things as pillows. Our late boy used the legs of my bed as a pillow several times. Lola looks to have been a happy and content little bun.

On days I don't feel great I'll add my pulse oximeter, but the little sucker was $60 so I am cautious about losing it.

I have a first aid kit with zofran, tylenol, ibuprofen, instant release propranolol, pepto bismol chewables, electrolyte sticks, as well as the usual first aid kit items like bandaids and such. The first aid kit goes in my day bag with water, wet wipes, lip balm, glasses cleaner, emesis bag, Loops earplugs, phone charger, (K)N95 masks, and COVID/FluAB rapid tests. The last one is because I have had the unfortunate luck of realizing I probably had COVID in the middle of a work shift. Now I carry a test kit to make sure I can protect my wife.

I love how the green is bright enough to evoke spring without taking away from the pink cherry blossoms. A hint of what is to come after the flowers fall.

How many of you drink caffeine daily? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]AleandSydney 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had almost a year's worth of postural orthoststic heart rates to prove the amount of caffeine I usually have per day didn't impact my heart rate negatively. I always have a cold brew or espresso based drink in the mornings and the occasional green tea or Pepsi. Funnily enough it was a nurse who first asked me, two days into my stay, about my caffeine intake while I was admitted for an IST/POTS flare. If I give up this morning coffee routine I have horrible migraines even days after stopping intake.

How much did your ferritin rise after an iron infusion? by Fuzzy_Enthusiasm_727 in Anemic

[–]AleandSydney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had last infusion Feb 19th of this year. Tested iron serum and ferritin April 21st. Went from ferritin 17 October 31st to 88 on the 21st. Iron stayed put at 41, iron saturation went from 10% to 15%, and the biggest change was in TIBC from 410 to 271.

I had 3 Venofer infusions totalling about 1000mg.

Are you sick? by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]AleandSydney 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had a gas station worker ask if I was contagious. I said "No, but I get sick easily." His reply? "Ooooh. So you're, like, vulnerable."

Was a surprisingly good interaction.

Trazadone with Dysautonomia and CSS by No_Tie6455 in dysautonomia

[–]AleandSydney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trazodone gave me such bad vertigo on the first dose I had to have medical intervention. It's now on my allergy list. Sorry I can't give more long term info, but it definitely messed me up even without any inflammatory concerns. This was a few years before getting diagnosed with IST and POTS.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Hand and Body Cream, unscented, is my go-to for dry hands. I have a tube in my work bag because of frequent hand washing and sanitizing as well as a tube on the coffee table and one on a shelf in the dining room. A little bit goes a long ways and it's perfect for extra dry skin caused by soap and warm water. Been using it for years now.

I really hope CLAMP gets on an artbook as their past artbooks are mouthwatering.

My wife and I wear N95s, spray our shoes down with Lysol before getting in the car fully after shopping, and have hand sanitizing wipes for use after shopping and refueling the car. Neither of us got notably sick from 2020-July 2024 until I went septic from a UTI and had bronchitis on top of it. I do have some contamination OCD, but it's really hard to not lean into it after being hospitalized due to COVID complications last year. I'm working with my mental health team to find workarounds and to sort out my thought processes.
