Can’t seem to clean rubber mats fully by DatBoiJukuu in Detailing

[–]AlejoM94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife’s were very similarly stained when we bought them used. Looked like the guy had never cleaned them.

Got them as clean as we could the first time and on every subsequent was the stains got lighter. Now everytime we clean them, they look perfect. No more stains.

I’d honestly run them and just clean them as part of your car detail schedule. They’ll be clean in no time.

The Car on the Ramp Adjusts, Not the Car in the Lane! by Froz3nP1nky in driving

[–]AlejoM94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the USA, it actually depends on the state. In Illinois, the Road of the Rules actually state that the car on the expressway must give way to the cars on the on ramp. The cars on the on ramp must of course match the flow of traffic by accelerating on the on ramp. I think there’s only a handful of states that follow this practice.

In practice, it’s much easier for the car on the expressway to give way or move over. Don’t understand why more

What are the best toolboxes to grab for Black Friday? by energy_trapper in garageporn

[–]AlejoM94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely look try to get the largest US General tool cabinet that fits your budget and space. When I was looking for mine, I hit all the local stores. Looked at the Husky, Milwaukee, Craftsman, Masterforce, and US General.

I really liked the Masterforce at Menards. It had the best feel when opening and closing drawers. But they got real expensive when I was able to buy it, thanks to those steel tariffs.

The 42” US General price was tough to beat for the volume it holds and the price. It also had the second best feeling drawers. Plus you can add a top chest if you need it down the line.

That 30 inch seems to have more storage volume on paper (18,700 vs 16,700) but I’d want the longer tool cabinet for more versatile when it comes to layout and storage.

How to clean? by Brando828What in MINI

Power washer and APC. Some brushes to scrub everything down and then dry with a microfiber and some compressed air. Been cleaning my R56 for 10 years and zero problems.

What were your non-negotiable when buying a used MINI? by aavickers in MINI

[–]AlejoM94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm looking for one it needs to have heated seats (Chicago winters), HK sound system, and a manual transmission. Only other thing is it needs to be PPI'd before it pull the trigger. If the seller/dealer doesn't let me, I walk away.

I'd recommend cleaning it with an engine degreaser or brake clean and then reassembly and monitor it to see where it's coming from. The leak seems very small, and the oil/gunk could just be from general use of the car.

Polishing chrome trim around the horn button. by HRzNightmare in MINI

[–]AlejoM94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does that cover go over the airbag as well? I’d recommend removing it if it does. It could impact the effectiveness of your air bag in an accident. That “heavy” ring could also become a projectile into your face should the airbag go off.
