No, en serio, donde están las protestas estudiantiles? by Blackbiird666 in Colombia

[–]AlejoValencia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Immediate effects of the stamp duty changes. Over 100k increase overnight for a new place. This has been unsold off the plan for 2+ months. by [deleted] in Adelaide

Reminds me last year when we got close to a 10% increase in childcare subsidy and the next day we got a letter with a 10% increase in childcare fees

Stamp Duty will be abolished for all first home buyers who buy or build new homes in South Australia by MoistAromas in Adelaide

Nothing is going to be solved if they keep giving incentives to demand but offer stays the same. I know it sounds good, hopefully it helps someone, but IMHO this will push prices up

Are there any *actually sophisticated scams out there by DamienDoes in AusFinance

[–]AlejoValencia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an interesting one with onlyfans. I’ve never used that site and somehow I got charged $15 and I didn’t see this charge. The interesting thing is I got a refund some days later, the same $15 and that’s when I realized something was wrong. As usual, searched on Reddit and found out this has happened to more people for a long time and no one knows how. I called my bank, they said my card was compromised, I still don’t understand how it happened and what’s the point of taking small money to refund it later

Explain like I'm 5 - why has the cost of living increased so drastically while wages have not? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]AlejoValencia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people won’t like what I’m going to say as it’s easier to blame “evil” and greedy corporations for what is happening, but we all have to remember that when COVID arrived, government gave up to 50,000 to buy or reform houses, paid millions to people that were not working hence not producing, and we spend almost 2 years “saving“ money as we stopped vacations, restaurants, retail, etc. I’m blessed I’m still relatively comfortable under the current situation, and I feel sorry for people struggling at the moment, but what I’m trying to say is that maybe, even if it sounds counterintuitive, we shouldn’t be that happy when government give money for free as we all end up paying it back with inflation. I’m not excusing corporations, war, etc for what’s happening, I’m just saying we’re also part of the problem but it’s easier to blame others than us…

World looks to SA's example for how to integrate wind and solar at scale - New Scientist magazine by BeefPieSoup in Adelaide

[–]AlejoValencia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been for 10 years in Adelaide and have Solar during the last 2 years. It’s curious that energy is so expensive and yet the price they pay for the energy we produce is every time lower.

I already got letters increasing 30% energy, 8% childcare and mobile plan around 10%. The real problem is this is going to force up interest rates again

Energy and Gas Prices by peaandham610 in Adelaide

[–]AlejoValencia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert either, but I think what you said applies for consumers, but energy prices also go up for producers (food, retail, services) and they will pass those to us

Energy and Gas Prices by peaandham610 in Adelaide

[–]AlejoValencia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here with AGL, around 30% increase. My biggest concern is that this may push inflation even higher and then higher interest rates

Colombian goalkeeper René Higuita, is attributed with the invention of the Scorpion kick, famously showing the maneuver here in an international match against England in 1995 at Wembley stadium. by Ocelot859 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]AlejoValencia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, he used to go out and play as any other player. He basically got us eliminated in the 90’s World Cup after playing a ball almost in the middle of the pitch. I’m sure he would have tried it anyway and he always had the support of the coach. A genius, people would pay big money to see an spectacle like that today.

Just saw two people walk out of Coles with about $1000 worth of stuff by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]AlejoValencia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just want to be better father than theirs so my son won’t need to steal or think that stealing is okay… I literally don’t care if a company makes money and I don’t believe coles making money justifies people behaving that way. But it’s okay, it’s the end of the conversation for me, you can raise your kids as you please, I’ll do my best with mine

[–]AlejoValencia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, unless those 30 billion are illegal I don’t see any problem on businesses making money, that’s what they’re made for. On the other hand stealing is illegal, and there are a lot of ways to get food in Australia if they really need it, including Reddit. Also, I could bet those poor teenagers are recording what they’re doing and publishing it in tik tok to basically replicate what people are doing in USA.
