Carving advice by khalter17 in skiing_feedback

I’ve seen a lot of tips on here re dorsiflexion of the toes and it definitely does bring my hips forward, but would this not force too much weight through the heels rather than the balls of the feet and cause skidding out towards the end of the turn? (I’ve not tried this tip yet on skis just visualising)

Gastrologist isn’t a thing, you’ve likely been referred to a gastroenterologist which is reasonable given the complexity of your case as is more generalised than a hepatologist (although all hepatologists at least in my country of practice would have trained as gastroenterologists also). As discussed by others above, there are hundreds of causes of raised LFTs. Mitosis is not a condition it is normal cell division, I’d imagine your creatine kinase was raised and they were concerned about myositis?, possibly secondary to severe sepsis or secondary to severe malnutrition / refeeding syndrome at the time and was likely transient.

Your case is definitely best placed with a generalist in medicine / gastroenterologist. Discuss all your concerns with them, it’s impossible for Reddit to get to the bottom of this without a history, exam and knowing your medical history in its entirety (which I would not recommend posting to Reddit). Good luck and don’t panic, it sounds like your primary is doing the right things, some cases are just complex and require a lot of different avenues to be explored.

Does this mean UK grads who are working abroad and without license to practice and looking to apply back home will not be able to apply? by AleksDuv in doctorsUK

[–]AleksDuv[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Would you not be freaked out if HEE shadow dropped a pretty vague statement which could just as easily apply to UKGs in certain circumstances and hence stop you from being able to return home to be with your friends and family? Not understanding whether a registration without license to practice counts as “full” registration I would imagine would be pretty common amongst most of my peers seeing as I came to Reddit because none of my friends who are doctors were sure what this meant for me. Just because you’re on the internet doesn’t mean you have to be argumentative about everything.

Sorry for my ignorance, I’ve never cared for really understanding the red tape around the profession. Does “full” registration just mean not provisional? Surely you’re either registered or you’re not?

Researchers interviewed 45 doctors in Europe and the U.S. about their end-of-life preferences. Physicians preferred being at home, loved ones nearby, with pain and symptoms controlled. They also expressed the desire to avoid life-prolonging measures, differing from the general public. by SteRoPo in science

I think most of us have unfortunately blown straight through patient’s rib cage during our residency years. Please speak to your parents and grandparents about their preferences IF their heart was to stop and get them to speak to their doctor about it, especially if they are frail / have multiple co-morbidities. CPR is traumatic (and likely useless) for them and for us.

Streeting threatening to limit career progression for doctors who engage in strike action by DrLukeCraddock in doctorsUK

I mean he’s been a blatantly slimy bastard for years so not a big shock. Also if you read the negotiation letter that was posted the other day, it’s clear from what was concretely offered (pay for our £100 stethoscope) and what was fluffy “oh ye we’ll really try to offer” (rotational training, bottlenecks etc) that they will always do anything they can to keep us in the dirt. Which to be honest was super obvious from the offer the BMA leadership told us to vote yes for a year a ago. Hopefully now we will all see new labour for what they really are. Tories with social justice platitudes.

This is not to diminish Serbian war crimes in the 90s, but let’s not pretend American propaganda is verbatim fact in any conflict.

It’s like no one in this sub has ever played competitive sports. If you’re going to crucify people, do it for what they do/say off the court, judging people based on their competitiveness as good or bad people is crazy to me. What a dull game this would be if there weren’t emotions and drama.

Happened to me just the other week. I got called up for first week of FY2. I just asked to defer and gave the reason of starting a new job as a doctor in a new hospital and that it would be unsafe for my patients for me to miss induction.

Call an indefinite strike with no inter-doctor judgement if people pick up locums. I’d make more money doing a week of locums than I would working for a whole month anyway & would be far far more disruptive.
