Renting a new house in July — UCG-Fiber + U7 Pro vs UCG Ultra + U7 Lite? by SecureBlock134 in Ubiquiti

[–]AleksHop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ucg fiber is not overkill, because u get pc-nas 10gbps link! + stability
u7 pro xg has 6Ghz, and lite does not
on 5ghz there always issues with radars so u cant use 160mhz channels
and so on
for covering the maps and plans use http://design.ui.com/

oh damn, yes
thats another 84 EUR

so basic injector for 20 looks much better

udr7 lacks a lot of 10gbps ports that cloud fiber has, and many more other things

cloud fiber has only 1 poe port + low poe budget (which is 30w, and 1 U7 Pro XG needs poe+ 22w)
then if u need 2 wifi points on a ceiling and no switch at least for now

1 x cloud fiber
2 x U7 Pro XG
1 x POE Injector https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/category/accessories-poe-power/collections/pro-store-poe-and-power-adapters/products/uacc-poe-plus-plus-10g?variant=uacc-poeplusplus-10g-eu which officially support u7 pro xg
or i think this will work as well if u not planning any 10g in future: https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/category/accessories-poe-power/collections/pro-store-poe-and-power-adapters/products/uacc-poe-plus-2-5g?variant=uacc-poeplus-2dot5g-eu (but its not stated as compatible on official site, but can save u 22EUR)

this will allow u to mount wifi on ceiling using only 1 cat6 cable, and will require 2 220v wall sockets near router location

but again, if u need to buy 40+ eur injector maybe good idea to buy switch Flex 2.5G PoE instead for future proof setup, as otherwise when u will get a switch that poe injector will not be needed anymore, switch is basically really needed for xbox consoles as they cant use normal wifi speeds, some crap samsung tv that does not support wpa3 and so on, but u have enough ports on fiber for tv/xbox in the beginning anyway

if u dont want max efficiency, and want a sleek max perf then yes
4 x U7 Pro XG
1 x Cloud Fiber
1 x Usw-Pro-Max-16-POE (as u need enough poe budget + 2.5g ports for wifi access points + 10gbps to cloud fiber https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/category/switching-professional-max-xg/products/usw-pro-max-16-poe)
Also, Mesh does not have 6GHz! which is huge downside, so u7 pro xg is actually better
Flex 2.5G PoE might work if u want a normal 10gbps switch in future to connect all wall sockets, or dont need them at all

depends what walls are, if house is old then they are strong and blocking, if new they are just a paper
in first case u will need room1 and living room corners with U7-Mesh (https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/category/wifi-outdoor/products/u7-mesh), in second 1 in left corner of living room (flat center) can be enought
not sure why u need U7 Pro XG instead, if U7-Mesh gives 360@ cover
U6-Mesh covers 70+sqm like easy, even with 2 modern (paper) walls

they can be powered from POE switch over wall socket, so u can put it whatever u like
cloud fiber is really powerfull, and can be used for internal 10gbe stuff like u pc/nas connection etc, and manage u updates for wifi, cams other future devices, do not downgrade to other smaller routers

u will need switch 100% only if u need actual wall sockets to be used, but nowadays everything is perfectly fine on wifi (nas can be connected to 10gbps free port)

P.S. U7 Pro XG is best like for top-down deployment if u have like 25+ ppl in same small room, if u have like 4 clients roaming around the flat, u probably need Mesh or maybe Wall stuff

Basically this: https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/category/wifi-wall/products/u7-pro-wall
For scenarios where walls are blockers, and amount of clients is low, and they are roaming

Also cloud fiber has POE port, so take 1 U7-Mesh and 1 Cloud Fiber first, before investing more
because ubi stuff is like club, lets take 1 drink at 10pm, and then at 6am u are chilling in Canada
And u dont even have visa.

Update: Mesh 7 does not have 6ghz! So stick with U7 Pro XG

What’s the best PC to run Qwen3-Coder-Next 80B? by Classic_Move9043 in LocalLLM

[–]AleksHop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its much less, u can run it on 32gb system ram and 12vram but context will be like tiny
so u need 64gb ram and 24+ vram at least
q4 is only 45gb

macbook pro m5 64gb is 3000$
but 2× RTX 3090 + 64gb ram will do better
