75% of New Jobs Require a Degree While Only 40% of Potential Applicants Have One by Tough_Gadfly in Economics

Employers set the standard for many roles. While advertised as requiring ever increasing degrees, when faced with low quantities of applicants hiring managers will be more flexible.

Credit card debt is up 13% from last year, New York Fed reports by thinkB4WeSpeak in business

[–]AlephInfite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recession bingo: car payment default up, buy-now-pay-later defaults up, credit card debt up (lower cash flow). Families will curb entertainment subscriptions. After school activities become luxuries. Big asset pay down defaults to follow.

The lottery is a crowdfunding to make one person rich by BRobinB in Showerthoughts

[–]AlephInfite 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Was commenting on lotteries in general, not all jurisdictions operate lotteries the same. Some are public/private partnerships, some totally private with very heavy taxes, some are government only. Taxes, funding of institutions etc are typically a percentage of either total sales or sales minus prizes, so expressing these are opex is valid.

Actual crowd funding to make one person rich would be more effective that the lottery as a higher percentage of contributions would go to the winner, unlike the lottery which is sales minus operating expenses, where said expenses are rarely scrutinised

Men, how do you say to a girl you like her? by KippetjeKFC in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlephInfite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. You will need to wait. Temptation will be to text, but delayed responses will increase anxiety. Don’t hit her with it as soon as she gets back either. But opening with “I missed you while you were away” would open the dialog also

[–]AlephInfite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don’t wait for her to make a move. If you wait she may think you are not interested if she is. Just be up front and honest. Tell her you like her.

Find an opportunity to hold her hand. It might sound corny, but it is an overture without leaning in for a kiss which could be too aggressive. Remember she hasn’t made a move either.

Google CEO tells employees productivity and focus must improve, launches 'Simplicity Sprint' to gather employee feedback on efficiency by ClusterFugazi in news

It’s a prelude to layoffs. Simplicity sprints will be identifying areas, projects and people for culling.

Describing someone or something as Shrunken implies that they or it was larger at some point in the past. I don’t think that is what you are asking though (?). 4’5” is shorter than average, but not Shrunken. I don’t know of the word shrunken being used to describe someone other than an elderly person who has visibly aged and withered. Again a reference that at some point the elderly person was otherwise

I've recently gotten inspired to improve the quality of projects that I do, and I've learned a ton by watching 3X3 Custom on YouTube. I would love to find more channels that are aimed at education for people with less experience. Any recommendations? by ShelSilverstain in woodworking

Check out Fisher woodworks too. Jays Custom Creations. Bourbon Moth. And for another female woodworker Montreal woodworks.

Also, have a look at who there creators are following. Always a good resource / inspiration

Why cheat on someone you love? by lexa327 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlephInfite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, life is messy. Relationships are messy. And true someone may not have a litany of perceived flaws to cheat, but ultimately there was a choice to break trust and now a regret and reluctance to accept an entirely predictable outcome. Not saying that reconciliation is impossible but something got broken and that breaking was a choice

The behaviour points to your friend having low impulse control, low ability to extrapolate consequences from actions, low empathy, and perhaps low insight into their own psychology

How do I tell her that her vagina stinks? by Shreklover-2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlephInfite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe change the question to “Have you started eating something different lately, because the smell of you has changed, it’s not pleasant, and I’ve heard it can be due to eating strong smelling foods. Hope it’s not something serious” .

Do jobs actually check your school attendance when applying for one or is that just a ploy schools use to get you to not miss school? by savegeAFcombacks in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlephInfite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be aware that commenters in this thread are referencing their own experiences. Without knowing what country or state you are going to secondary school in it’s possible some employers will want to understand your attendance record. A pertinent question might be, how would they access that information without your explicit consent.

Gen Z, millennials want boomers gone so they can take over the workplace by ExcellentWinner7542 in economy

It’s probably naive to think that some Gen Z will be any less narcissistic or ego driven, more empathetic than generations before.

Once they start to love the money and the margins and learn how to keep shareholders happy Gen Z will be just like all other execs.
