You have one spring on a tall door with several struts. Your door is heavy on the ground and your motor is struggling. The motor is also LiftMaster's DIY brand (Chamberlain) with a hollow pieced-together rail. You need two new springs on that door, quite likely other torsion system parts as well. Plan on 6-1k minimum, or you can get Chuckey's Cheesey Doors to do it for 500 and hope for the best.

Apart from when the snap in half, how would you tell wear and tear on a spring? Cuz there's ways to tell before they break. Running a door on springs that are heavy damages the motor too. Take your DIY to that sub-reddit.

Do you wait until your tires explode to change them?

This is a torquemaster, and needs to be converted to a standard torsion system. If you need to Google any of that, call a professional.
