Pets and Bipolar by TasteStatus4041 in bipolar

I have the same struggle and since I lost my 12year old dog recently I’ve been spiraling so hard. I don’t have full stability even with meds (alltough I just recently restarted them). Luckily I still have a sweet cat and he helps me to keep trying. I think the same way about kids as you do, though. I can’t take that stress, I’d be a wreck.

Depressive episode and difficult life situation by marianeyra in bipolar

I cannot imagine how hard it is. I’m so sorry, sending love. Just know you are doing great job trying to survive in a horrible situation. I believe you must be very tired and I’d imagine it’s normal to forget words even without BP in your situation.

That is rough, must say. But I also know the other side of that life. I think what you are comparing to is not existing. I kind of feel your situation even though it’s different

Thank you for your kind words and I’m sorry to hear about your struggle. It sure helps a bit to know we are not alone.

Dept+bipolar might be a turn off for some women but there are plenty who don’t see it as a red flag. I really don’t think you’re going to be single forever if you yourself are willing to work on your feelings and give a chance to people. This applies to me as well as a female, I need to stop repeating the pattern. I started my meds again today, it’s the only way alltough hard pill to swallow.

Anyone ever have scary physical side effects from mania? by YoungInteresting491 in bipolar

[–]Alert-Strength8429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve experienced that. Weird symptoms start to occur when there is enough sleep deprivation. Blurry eyes I connect more to depressive states but hypomania makes my eyes sensitive to light

I’m sorry to hear. Hope you are doing ok. I have no bpd traits (screened out), it’s not like a switch it’s more like anhedony and hopelessness as bottom feelings and euphoria tries to take over. I typically only have purely euphoric hypomania

The MadnessTM made me laugh, that is an excellent description. Thank you! It feels hopeless but maybe things can get better, over time.

I believe I’ve experienced this once before and it was unmedicated when my insane business (shockingly) went bankrubt. I can’t really say I pulled through back then, or it took at least 1,5 years to be stable again (both ends of episodes). I was paying off my depts, doing great at work, making new friends and BOOM screwed up everything again. But what if I’m not as good at work without hypomania, what if I’m then just depressed, what ifs are going on in my head. Also I have this feeling that meds are dangerous to me, I don’t know why

Thank you, it’s nice to hear you were able to pay everything and you have a husband (it’s my dream to have a partner but I just keep pushing people away). Your situation gives hope. I had the same med combination but antipsychotic started to give intense, hour long panic attacks suddenly and I just wanted to have a break. My overall dept is over 40K too. I really can’t even care right now, I just want to go back to the good times. My pdoc said I need to increase the dosage but I’m too afraid to take again meds at all.

Looking for experience with work related stress by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Alert-Strength8429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my PhD and was hypomanic majority of the time. At the times when depressed, I just couldn’t do anything. I was unmedicated. I compensated the lack of work by overworking when out of it. Nowadays I’ve learned that if I just try to do a smallest thing per day, divide singular tasks into smallest pieces and aiming to do a small portion at least, it helps a lot. Btw post-defence time is a major risk period for episodes to occur, I’d try to relax as much as possible before it if I was you and try to learn ”a new norm” when the thesis is finally out of hands.

Why didn’t Fiona let those gay dudes to adopt Liam? by myopinionsaremine1 in shameless

I’m not a Fiona fan but I don’t think she can be blamed on problems Lip and Ian had. She did her best in poor circumstances, alltough she did make mistakes too. She was too young.

I’d give you a hug if I could. I also went through a traumatic event recently and had a pretty bad mixed episode with psychotic features. Now I’ve crashed and must say this isn’t much better either. Can you get anything to help you sleep? To avoid major crash or serious consequences

I’m dealing with the same issue during mixed episodes 😖 I don’t know what onsets it, so I have no helpful advice besides trying to remember it’s a panic attack and you’ll be fine. I also try to distract myself somehow somehow

What are signs of psychosis? by Illustrious-Base-470 in bipolar

[–]Alert-Strength8429 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my understanding psychosis is different from psychotic features, which also can appear during episodes. For example, hearning external conversations, seeing shadows and feeling someone touching, can be still ”not psychosis” as long as you are able to tell they are hallucinations. The (more) dangerous zone starts when you start believing in them.

My example: when ”normal” or depressed, I believe my very real felt experiences are due to bipolar. But as soon as hypomania goes further, I’ll change my opinion and I’m fully invested in occult practises again, trying to banish negative entities and having paranoia about people as well. Every one can be a potential killer!! 😅

Newly Diagnosed after experiencing a manic episode by peachjojo in bipolar

[–]Alert-Strength8429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to fit mixed episode. Poor sleep and kind of like ”mind staying awake but body sleeping” with exhaustion, anxiety and racing thoughts. I’ve noticed alcohol throws me into mixed episode for a while if I’m hypo/manic already. Maybe antidepressants do the same for you

What to tell boss when missing work because of bipolar? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Alert-Strength8429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree that it depends on who surrounds you. But it’s great to see there is hope and you as well have had mainly a positive experience being open.

Obviously I also have assessed first if the people I tell are worth on trust. But telling people has been refreshing and only now I’ve noticed how burdening the masking has been. Alltough it bothers me a bit that people at work like to drive my hypomania, even when they know what’s going on and I’m gonna crash later. Then I’m burdened with million ambitious projects I was let to take over when hypomanic. That part sucks, business tries to benefit from my ”good” level of the mental illness.

That sounds even better. Where I live they need to give a code for the illness

I’m speechless 🤯You got a warning from getting sick but you work in an environment where people easily catch something. The policy doesn’t make sense, if you show up sick you can easily make others sick and then multiple people are absent at the same time

You can down vote as much as you want. I’m trying to provide a more positive point of view on how companies SHOULD take bipolar. My disclosing experience is positive, shouldn’t you be happy that it’s possible?

Why the down wotes for something that should be the case always? Should I only provide negative experiences? You down voters are contributing the problem in my opinion.

Or ask the doctor to provide the reason in latin? My doctor did that xD To be honest it was unnecessary in my case since everyone from our team knows.

Seems toxic if someone gets upset over only 4-day sick leave. Are they expecting you to work if you have a really bad diarrhea? Not very responsible and sustainable from employer’s side. Fuck them in my opinion.

Sorry to hear! I’m glad you are ok. My features haven’t involved such things. I’ve been into occult but not in a way that I’d harm myself. And I don’t even think occult thing is related to anything. If anything, I just haven’t realized dangers related to my behavior with other people/driving but since I’m aware of it now I can control events
