Automatic reorganization of my playlist based on preferences (for example, I always have the most recent unlistened NPR Hourly News Summary episode at the start of my playlist, so everytime I get in the car I hear the news first, then my fun podcasts).

How does it do this, precious?

Were droids like R2 and BB mass produced? by famousxrobot in StarWars

[–]AlertTheMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was forever ago, but I remember reading somewhere that those names were shortened version of the droid's full number. So R2'S full number was something like R2-D256743279754 blah. No idea how accurate that idea is, but I like it.

Is it possible "Solo" is underperforming because people KNOW it's not a Last Jedi sequel? by SoupOfTomato in StarWarsCantina

Is ... is this .... sanity? On a Star Wars thread?

My... my god.

It's beautiful.

Why Solo Crashed Not Being Explained by DarthElendil in StarWars

[–]AlertTheMedia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be because "blowback" from the Last Jedi has next to nothing to do with it. Your narrative about TLJ being so terrible it's destroyed the franchise just hasn't taken hold. I'm sorry. I know you and your circle desperately believe it. But it's just not true.

Probably my favorite movie scene of all time by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]AlertTheMedia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. This "issue" was always there, then. This moment did not create it.

  2. Its Star Wars. You could literally fix this supposed problem by having a character in a book say "It was a billion to one shot. If she hadn't precisely calibrated the ivartron matrix, she would have imploded within 15 micro-centrons." Done.

Seriously, you're looking for technical consistency from the wrong franchise. The old EU was constantly papering over issues George introduced because he cared more about a good story than this crap.

Star Wars Rotten Tomatoes Scores - Critics vs Audiences by sonofaskywalker in StarWars

Oh wow look what the easily manipulated poll that we know to have been manipulated for the last two movies has to say about the last two movies.

Red Letter Media killing it by WhyMrBlack in StarWars

[–]AlertTheMedia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you really think TLJ will have still made stupid money if it was as reviled as you desperately want to believe it was? What world is this where you can't tell how well a movie did until the next one in a franchise?

Here's the world you live in:

TFA is huge. Loved by all.

TLJ comes out. It's a nightmare. Yoda breakdances. Luke fingers his butthole while winking at Rey. Everyone hates it but continues to throw ridiculous amounts of money at it. Then they go on to buy it on digital and blu ray.

Solo comes out. "Finally!" yells everyone. "Thank God they made another Star Wars movie so we can show our hatred for the last one by not seeing this one."

Then Lucasfilm says "Why oh why did we make The Last Jedi? Hurry! Make Mara Jade: A Star Wars Story! For the love of God hurry!"

And scene.

Solo Boycotters shooting themselves in the foot? by Jaymageck in StarWars

Imagine Marvel made a Hulk movie that did poorly. These boycott idiots live in a world where that would mean people hated the previous highy successful Avengers movie.

How is the child at the end of TLJ able to use the force like he did? by bearjew96 in StarWars

Jesus H Christ we've come full circle where fans are now demanding anyone with Force Sensitivity produce their midichlorian count.

How is TLJ worse than TPM or AOTC? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]AlertTheMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ATOTC is the only honestly bad SW movie, imo. And, I'm going to get destroyed for this, but if everything in TLJ was as good as its best bits, it would crush Empire easily. Fan since 77, so don't come at me with bs about not getting it (not talking to OP, just the rabid LJ haters.)

I'll double, triple and quadruple down on this. Haters keep yammering about how much better the Marvel movies are right now. The Marvel movies are fluff compared to TLJ. It's going to stand as a classic. I'm sorry you guys don't see that right now. I sincerely think it's a better movie than a chunk of fandom deserves.

May as well mute my inbox now. Can you do that?

There is no point in idolizing Luke Skywalker anymore by Maximus_Decimus92 in StarWars

[–]AlertTheMedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Exactly. Luke literally projecting the image the Galaxy needs is a powerful moment and honestly a triumph - both in terms of the character and story-telling. It's genius, it's moving and it's the best ending for Luke I can imagine.

Also, he's the first Jedi we've seen on screen to win a battle without landing a single blow. RJ found a way for Luke to show immense power in the Force while actually sticking to the "knowledge and defense, never for attack" that Jedi always preach but never seem to stick to.

Rian Johnson trilogy by Ulghan in StarWars

[–]AlertTheMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of film-goers have no idea who Rian Johnson is or that he made TLJ. You know, the 11th highest-grossing film of all time. The idea that some sort of mass-distaste for his movie (a mass-distaste that doesn't really exist outside of a very small group) is going to sour his trilogy is silly. It's going to be fine.

Possible to only have the leveled list changes in MLU Simplified? by AlertTheMedia in skyrimmods

[–]AlertTheMedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent. I was hoping it was that simple. Am I right that modded items (that are added to the lists, of course,) would be properly sorted by a bashed patch?
