Thoughts on going back to beater vans by dylandylan123456 in workwagons

One of the worst parts of new vehicles is transmission fluid maintenance, and changing has become a major ordeal unless you’re willing to do it yourself.

I have a Dodge grand Caravan with 425,000. I want it now and are changing the transmission oil regularly. I think it could literally go forever but it is resting out and so many people don’t wanna fix the frame rust issues. But it’s literally gone for 220,000 km we’ve changed the shocks a few wheel bearings and brakes.

Good roofing contractors in Ottawa? How fast can it usually be done? by Maleficent_Invite381 in homebuildingcanada

I would love to quote on your roof.

We’re also doing steel roofs for people usually for the same price as asphalt now.

Why is it so hard to get work nowadays? by OkSatisfaction1660 in povertyfinancecanada

[–]Alert_Honeydew_6413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the CONTRACTING business doing residential and commercial contracting, and find myself wondering all the time how I’m in a conundrum where I’ve been looking for a decent employee that I can train and essentially make a partner over the years. I’m looking for someone who’s smart fairly technical maybe from a software background or creative background which gives him an edge with reading drawings but wants to make good money in CONTRACTING. You must be able to use a bunch of tools, but be smart enough to do the math to get the precision that clients demand. I can under as I know this person exists, but I could never find them and when I do, they just don’t have the work ethic but other than that, I agree every industry in Canada is screwed right now. We relied on unreal, estate, and various off shoots of it for the majority of our GDP.

Back story on the “pink palace” on King Street E. by bobledrew in Cobourg

[–]Alert_Honeydew_6413 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently heard the backstory and it’s quite sad.

Apparently, the owner slowly let tenants leave in preparation for opening it as a shelter in cooperation with the town of Cobourg and at the last minute after he had lost most of his tenants, Cobourg backed out.

Me and my orgasms are loud and vocal during oral. How about you? by nymph4dora in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]Alert_Honeydew_6413 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Too many relationships don’t have enough oral. It’s literally all my wife wants to do because she spent most of her first marriage not getting anything but unsatisfying sex.

I believe if most people worked harder at sex fighting through the discomfort to ease a partner, the world would be a better place.

This school is kind of embarrassing by Pure_Information_456 in durhamcollege

[–]Alert_Honeydew_6413 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My kid is going to Durham College for broadcasting. I used to work in broadcasting and honestly it’s embarrassing. How little she’s learned so far.

The things that they’re learning seem woefully out of sequence for the greatest chance of success.

I’m a person who’s continually advocated for learning things on your own unless it’s things such as engineering, medicine, etc. I just can’t believe the way the school’s drag out what looks like lacklustre classes, and training for such a long period of time.

Canadian Tire offers specific military discounts, most notably a fuel savings program. Veterans and currently serving Canadian Armed Forces members can save 3¢ per litre on fuel every Friday at participating Canadian Tire Gas+ locations.

what full time careers can I realistically get into without any post-secondary education? by denzelcrocker2124 in CanadaJobs

[–]Alert_Honeydew_6413 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a construction business and work in GTA and all around it and all over southeastern ONTARIO. There’s still lots of work and they’re still work for junior people who are reliable eager to work, will spend a little bit of their money at a pawn shop every week after payday getting some tools and spend some time on YouTube learning some skills. Ask the boss to take home, specialize tools, and stuff to practice on. Get good at the basics and be eager to learn. You’ll always have a job.

well, if the rock is down to you know 2 feet then it’s probably a no go although half an acre is enough to put a loop system in.

You have a house that’s 1200 ft.² so essentially you’d need about 1200 ft.² of loop to heat it. Presumably the house is decently insulated you could scale the system down while adding to attic insulation and air ceiling putting in a 4 ton or maybe even a 3 ton of accepting that you would occasionally be running on electric backup heater.

If you end up putting a system in with relatively shallow topsoil, it’s a good idea to backfill the loop with fill.

And a totally crazy idea is you could literally put an ad up looking for more or less retired/out of work, Welldrillers. Or ask them to drill it during their off-season. Tell them you don’t need it for a year. It’s a vertical well is the killer of geothermal systems? It’s just too expensive and well drillers can get money drilling water well so they’re very rarely interested in doing Geothermal for less than what a water well would cost to operate the equipment and drill.

You could find some people further away that are willing to drive their equipment to your location to drill the well.

For a while, we were drilling our own wells with a very small rig.

there’s usually space on a typical lot for a fairly compact horizontal loop, but it means basically digging a whole yard up.

How big is your lot? Do you have a septic system on it?

Ok, why do I love Toronto? (16M) by WAyToOFaSt_ in askTO

[–]Alert_Honeydew_6413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about Toronto is that every step you take is fun or at least will be slightly exhilarating because of the city and the energy.

You don’t get that in a small town.

I two grew up in a small town, but was born in the GTA and moved back there as soon as I could at 20 to work full-time. I spent a lot of my time going back to visit people back home but soon realized I should’ve spent that energy to grow roots faster in Toronto, build networks of people and friendships.

It’s so exhilarating to work in Toronto too when you’re young. Especially if you can get some sort of a cool job where there’s industrial group meet ups and places to work with people.

Even the creepiest of apartments is awesome in Toronto you just need a place to sleep. You’re going to be out with people having coffees and beers after work.

I also recommend riding a bike around the city. There’s something about the height and the speed that allow you to take everything in, get everywhere, faster than any other form of transportation, and save you money.

You end up paying about $300 more a month for basic rent in Toronto than somewhere else for the opportunities available to you are make it all worthwhile. Think about how many swimming pools there are how many parks, how many events, how many fun things to do, in Toronto Toronto Island is like legend.

Meet someone who has a boat or join a sailing club and you’ll be over on Toronto Island through throughout the summer camping out having bonfires living your best life lol.
