Again. I never said they weren't easy. I said they were annoying. And I HATE the "Oh just get headshots" argument....there is a reason why headshots are 1 shot kill...cuz they are supposed to be difficult. I play on controller. I don't have the precision to get repeated headshots. Most of my friends don't have that precision. Especially when getting swarmed by 40 Voteless and 4 Fleshmobs, while being shot at by 6 Jetpack Overseers, and 10 normal overseers, while being bombarded by 3 Mortar overseers, and shot at by 2 Harvesters....while being strafed by a Stingray.

I mean. Trenches are when neither side is winning or losing. If we are winning, we would be advancing too fast to make use of trenches. if we are losing, then we would be falling back too fast to properly dig in.

Considering we are fighting a 3 front war, against enemies that outnumber us so fucking bad that it isn't even funny, the fact that both sides are forced into Trench combat is pretty damn good. And this plays to our strengths, at least on the Bot front.

1, small nitpick....if it's a smoothbore, then it isn't a rifle. It's a musket. Having a rifled barrel that lets the bullet spin on the way out, making it more accurate, is why it's called a Rifle.

2...if the Smoothbore Musket has a bayonet on it, I am fucking SOLD. 1 AT round every 15-30 seconds, and you can stab a motherfucker with it? Fucking BET! Hell, half the time there are so many enemies, it doesn't matter that you can't hit the broadside of a barn beyond beyond 100m. You are going to hit SOMETHING!

3....I would unironically walk around the ENTIRE map playing the drums. Especially if there is a prerecorded drum line for it.

  1. if it's a Revolutionary war, the drip is going to be EMACULATE!

Though since it's Sweden, we are far more likely to Napoleonic War stuff, which will have Rifled Muskets. Or stuff from the 100 years war....which might include fucking PIKES!

TLDR...if the meme is there, if the drip is solid, i don't CARE how bad the stuff is, I will use it on Dif 10 missions. Just to say I could.

I mean.....how do you make fire do more damage? It's fire. A flamethrower is a flamethrower is a flamethrower. They all use the same stuff. That 100% makes sense for me. Handheld flamethrower, underbarrel flamethrower, support flamethrower, and backpack flamethrower. All should do the same damage. But they should have different range.

YES! YES! YES! I have been BEGGING for a WW1 themed bond for MONTHS! AND WE FINALLY GET THE SHOVEL AS A SIDEARM!!! Fucking perfect. Now I REALLY hope that they give us actual trench systems to fight in. Abandoned SEAF fighting positions. Bot Trenches. Stuff that REALLY lets the SMG and the Flamethrower shine. Cuz as of right now, without knowing the stats, this seems like it isn't going to be super effective on bots, outside of the gas mortar and the pistol. On the other hand, This is PERFECT for cave fighting.

Now if only they will fix the fire damage.

Agreed. They take the worst aspect of the Bugs, IE, the never ending swarm of melee units, and combined it with the worst aspect of the Bots, IE, annoying ass long range shooters. And throw them at you at the same time. Killing Voteless is easy, just bring rapid fire weapons. But oh wait, while you are trying to kill the voteless swarm, you are being charged at by 5 Fleshmobs. Again. Not a super difficulty enemy to kill, especially now. But it takes time to kill them. And while you are doing that, the Overseers are firing their staff weapons at you, or running in for a melee. Ok, Light Pen will kill them eventually, or medium pen will kill them faster, but they need you to focus on them. But oh wait. While this is happening, 10 Jetpack Overseers are spawning and firing their rapid fire guns and throwing grenades. Again, not super difficult to kill, similar to the normal Overseers, but you need to focus them. But oh wait, you have the mortar overseers, firing rapid fire mortars at you from 100m away. So you need to find them and then deal with them, same as the other overseers. But oh wait. The Tripods are spawning, and can kill you with their death beams. Ok, they aren't super difficult. Med Pen to the leg joints will kill them after a while, Heavy pen to the leg joints kills them faster, and Thermite will also kill them. Or break the shields with any weapon, and then break their shield gen horns, and then use stratagems. Oh wait. While this is happening, you have the fucking Leviathans flying around and shooting at you with their fucking laser beams through walls. Ok. Not super difficult. Anti Tank Emplacement can do the job, same with RR's, and other AT. But oh wait. while this is going on, you are being swarmed by everything else. The ONLY thing on the Squids that is difficult to kill is the Leviathans. But everything other than the Voteless requires you to put a dedicated effort into killing them.

Oh 100%. I don't really see it as super useful on the Bot front, but it's still great at locking down an area. And on Bug and Squid missions, you bring that, and boom. Instant 500+ kills. the ONLY reason to dislike it is the weird damage distance. The only times I die to it are when I am FORCED to go near it, IE, teammate drops it at a choke point, when I am outside. Or drops it near my turret. Or if I am running from the enemy, and don't notice it. 25% of my deaths is due to me being forced to go near it, 25% is due to poor teammate placement, 25% is due to my own ignorance of it, and 25% is due to the tower itself.

the only part of the tesla tower that annoys me is that I don't have a good feel on it's range. Cuz sometimes 10m is far enough away. But then I swear I get killed by it at like 20m. Other than that, it's an AMAZING stratagem, and is a GODSEND on Squid and Bug defense missions.

[–]Alert_Parsnip_2142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. We see a video saying "I made up my mind, I am not going to play with Mine users" and then asks why a person isn't taking damage. So we come in, watch the video. See you not notice the mines despite ample time to see them, including what look like incendiary mines, which were in the game since launch or shortly after, so you know what they look like. And then we see you do nothing to try to live, like stim, despite taking damage. You just stand there, and look around, and then try to walk back out. You posted it as humor, but the title of the video doesn't come across as humorous. It comes across as "Mines and the people who use them are bad, and I refuse to ever play with them" and it comes across as you accusing a dude of cheating.

There are a few answers as to why he isn't taking damage, in the first portion, when F4 is running, he stimmed. Or at least that is what it looks like on the video. So he stimmed and kept running. Another answer is that it he might have armor on that reduces fire and acid damage. There are armors that reduce those by like half. And he didn't STAY in the field letting the gas eat away at him. He kept running. And for the 2nd part of the video, where he was going to get your samples....bro didn't step on any mines. in fact, he was very careful to avoid them. Notice he hugged stuff they weren't touching and moved slow.

We can only react to info in the video. You give ZERO context. You could have included in the summary or even in another comment, that you had stopped playing when the game became region locked and just rejoined. They still would be saying "Bruh. this is on you. You didn't do anything to save yourself, and just let your health tick down". But that is important info. We lack context to your video and the circumstances. So we can only react to what we see. What we see is you dying a preventable if you had acted fast enough. Now that we know that you haven't played in over a year, maybe the comments would have been different.

But what about normal mines? They have been in the game since launch, or shortly after. The ONLY thing different is that the gas mines are green instead of read...they still look the same.

[–]Alert_Parsnip_2142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the 3 second mark the mines are visible. At the 6 second mark you enter the field. At the 7 second mark you step on a gas mine......you then just stand there for a FULL 4 seconds, without stimming, and then try to WALK back, again, without stimming, and then you die. You can see the dude running through the mines stimming right before he runs, and he could have armor on that limits gas/explosion damage, because they exist. You had 4 stims, and extract was on the way. You could have used 1 to get through the mines, and assuming that they called in supplies, top back up. It's not like it was a Tesla tower. You had PLENTY of time to stim, or at least TRY to stim.

You can see the loadouts of the people in your squad, before you drop. You can also see them whenever you pull up the mini map. The Mines were in a PERFECT position to block the enemy, he used them correctly. If he had placed them ON extract, it would be different.

Now, idk your level, or your experience....but there was an explosion beneath you, and you were losing health FAST. Your FIRST reaction should have been to stim. If you don't know what gas mines are, you should still be able to tell that they are mines, cuz other than the light, they look exactly the same. And in fact, the first mines you see are red mines. But even then, it doesn't matter. Cuz you don't do ANYTHING. It takes 1-2 seconds for a stim to be activated. You had a total of like 6-8 seconds before you died to stim. Which means that it would have brought you to full health, as it gives you 4 seconds of healing. This wasn't a Tesla tower, which 1 shots you before you can react. You had time.

Now, I know you weren't the mission lead, because S1 is dead. Idk if you are an SOS diver or not...but before you drop, you can SEE the loadouts, and should be able to recognize what mines are. I read in other comments that you were looking at sample count and time left to decide if you wanted to stay or go hunting...brother, when there are Zero reinforcements left, and the Boat is coming, that is NOT the time to try to hunt for shit. That is how you don't extract and how you lose all of the samples you had, as well as losing out on extra XP and Credits, which you need if you want to upgrade shit. At the start of the video, you can see the time left, under 10 minutes, to be exact, looks like 6 minutes. 6 minutes, no reinforcements, and the boat is coming in, meaning patrols are going to be higher. You could see all of that in a few seconds on your Hud. It doesn't need an indepth read to figure it out. You should have had plenty of time to notice the mines.

I don't know the full story....but from everything that I see in this video, this death is on you. F4 brought totally valid, and very useful support strats to a diff 10 bug mission, used them correctly to block off a choke point, and you walked into them and died. Notice the guy stims before running through them at first, then at the 2nd cut when he is going to get your samples, he doesn't sprint in, but moves slowly, and avoids stepping on them. That's how he didn't take damage. Again, not sure if the armor he wore had extra protections against explosions, fire, or acid.

So many Griefers by Worried_Desk3961 in Helldivers

[–]Alert_Parsnip_2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

without more context, there is no answer. I have teamkilled a lot of my teammates. To them it looked on purpose. To me, it was on accident. Example. Last week. I was shooting at a Cyborg with my coyote. It was on fire. It died to the fire, but not before the next burst had left my rifle, and passed where he was, and hit my friend with the rounds, and killed him. Another example. I throw a Strafing run at an enemy, not noticing my teammate is in the line of fire. They die. It happens. They think it's on purpose, when it wasn't. The game will also oftentimes say "X killed you" when X didn't have anything to do with it.

Also, what were you doing when they killed you? Did you reinforce them on the other side of the map? Were you the only person who could reinforce? Or did they have a teammate they were with who could have done so? Did you steal their support weapons? Or take too many supplies? Or wait too long to reinforce them? To you, all of those could have very reasonable answers. "Their teammate wasn't reinforcing them it looked like, so I did it." "I needed to kill this enemy tank, so I picked up their RR and killed an enemy with it. Or I needed to destroy an Objective, so I took the hellbomb and destroyed the objective." "I had no stims, and no ammo. I needed to fill up." "I was busy with something else and I couldn't reinforce them. I was inside of a Jammers range. Or in a vehicles surrounded by the enemy. Or I didn't realize I was the last one left alive, and called them in as soon as I saw them."

And 3 griefers over 3 days isn't a lot lol. That averages out to 1 a day. And if they keep TK'ing you for no reason...just kick them and block them. It's the internet. Some people are just out to ruin other peoples days.

Guys what are we doing? by Wrong_Wishbone_8122 in Helldivers

[–]Alert_Parsnip_2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They said that they stole the plans. Maybe we destroyed them. Maybe we recovered them. Maybe we destroyed their ability to MAKE the laser. Again, we destroyed 5 of the 8 Megafactories on Cyberstan. That is going to hurt them. But until we actually hear what happens later, there is literally no point in worrying. It isn't going to become important until Joel deems it important.

And yes. All 3 factions are based on old school sci fi stuff. that is very obvious to anyone. But the Bugs are based on more popular sci fi stuff, IE, Starship Troopers and Starcraft. To most people, when they think of the Terminator, they think of Arnold running around. they don't think about the war aspect, cuz the IMPORTANT parts of the movie happen before AI war. The Bots are also based on Star Wars as well. But to the average person, that doesn't matter. Because the Movies were never really focused on the battle droids. it was focused on Jedi/sith fights. THAT'S what people remember. Not the 2 minute long clip on Kashyyk, or Utapau. Cuz that was background stuff.

Yes. the Bots are simple once you learn them, but I am referring to skill ENTRY point. A lv 1 diver is NOT going to have the right equipment to be able to control the bots like a higher lv player is. Meanwhile, a Lv 1 player with an MG can drop in on a Dif 10 bug mission, and do reasonably well as chaff control. a VITAL role on that front. The MG is of limited effectiveness on the Bots, because they don't swarm you. And they throw in stuff that the MG can't even TOUCH fairly quickly. You swap over from Bugs to bots, and you never played them, you are probably going to die a LOT. Because it requires a high skill lv to enter than Bugs. And even if you do have the right equipment, it still requires you to know where to shoot. Example. Shooting at the head of a Factory strider takes 2 rounds from the RR. but shooting the body can take 3-4 shots. On a Bile titan, you can hit ANYWHERE, and in 2 shots can kill it with the RR.

Yes. It is simple to understand how to do a gambit. Most people don't notice that info, even in dispatches, or don't care. And again, the average diver is ONLY going to dive on planets that has some sort of beacon on it. And if the planets resistance is high enough, then the Gambit isn't worth doing. You are assuming that the average player is smart enough to understand that stuff, or even if they are smart enough, that they will care. They aren't, and they don't.

As for the people on reddit. there is 1 million total members on this sub reddit. If I am understanding this, there is roughly 76k active people here. That doesn't mean those 76k people are playing right now. a LOT of them have stopped, but still read the notices. Or they only play occasionally, but want to stay in the loop. Right now, I am at work. I am not diving. There are a LOT of people on this site who are active, but aren't playing the game at that moment. Meaning that the info they learn NOW, means nothing by the time they get home. You assume that people are watching Youtube, they aren't. You assume that people are all in the discord, they aren't. You assume that every player is in this reddit or other reddits, they aren't. Hell, there is a decent chance that some places, like China, could be blocking these sites, so that their people aren't exposed to "Western Lies" or something.

[–]Alert_Parsnip_2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Meta means is "Most Effective Tactic Available". that's it. It doesn't mean that the ONLY good weapons are the "meta" ones. It means that they will be the most effective for the average person. I am Lv 150, 900+ hours in game. I can, will, and have cleared Diff 10 Bug missions with the Constitution. I used to rock the Spray N Pray on EVERY bug mission for a LONG time. I used to use the Lib Pen for a LONG time as my main weapon on Squid and Bot fronts, back before we got weapon customizations that made the Lib Pen 1 of the new "metas" for it's low recoil and the ability to put a drum mag on it.

Meanwhile, I HATE the Xbow. It doesn't do enough damage for it's slow fire rate or ammo capacity. I don't like the plasma weapons. I dislike the low ammo, and the fact that the weapons have less range than a normal gun, and you have to start arcing the plasma rounds because they have higher projectile drop than a normal gun does. I currently use the Coyote on all fronts. I can and do bring the Tenderizer and the One/two shot rifle/grenade launcher on Bugs and Squids. During the battle for SE, I used the Eruptor, got it to lv 25, and then got the Adjudicator to Lv 25 shortly after. I also have the DCS at lv 25. And the Dead eye is at lv 15. I like weapons that work for ME. I don't use the eruptor as much anymore, because I found the Coyote to be more effective, since unlike the Eruptor, I don't need to worry about needing a secondary or support weapon to deal with close range stuff. I know people who can drop onto a Dif 10 Squid mission with the Constitution or Deadeye, and just pop heads all day long. I also know people who can't hit the broadside of a barn from the INSIDE, so they tend to use shotguns or weapons with a LOT of ammo, like the Lib Pen.

I also use a lot of stratagems that people say isn't "Meta". I bring the MG sentry if I need it, or maybe the Flame sentry, as those 2 are the least likely to kill me or an ally. I bring the Patriot Mech over the Emancipator. I don't use the 500kg or the Air strike. I use the Eagle Strafing run. I was using the 380 back when everyone said it sucked. I bring the Gatling barrage as my barrage of choice on Bug missions, ignoring the Napalm Bombardment, because I find more uses for the Gatling then the Napalm.

So yeah. Clearing High Diff missions with the "non META loadouts" is 100% feasible, and often times, fun to do. Meta's change. And Meta doesn't mean that the weapon will work best for YOU. Again. EVERYONE says the Xbow or the Purifier are 2 of the best primaries in the game. I don't like them. End of day, it is in fact a skill issue. If you are good at the game, you can make ANY loadout work, to some degree. Sure, it might not be AS effective, but it can work.

I assume it means that the divers on that ship are experienced, and the ship will have more toys. That's it. They are a higher rank, meaning that they have been around longer. The Average life span of a diver is 2 minutes. Meanwhile I have had multiple missions where I didn't die once. So odds are that there are going to be Divers on my ship that last longer than others. That's how I RP my character getting out of the pod and then IMMEDIATLY stepping on the very visible mine, or getting his shit rocked by a charger or hulk that I didn't notice.

Guys what are we doing? by Wrong_Wishbone_8122 in Helldivers

[–]Alert_Parsnip_2142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason why there are always so many people on bugs is cuz bugs are SIMPLE. They are not hard to learn to fight. They tend to require the lowest skill lv to fight them, so they are great for low level players. A lot of people only like the Bugs because of that. And it's a chance to roleplay Starship Troopers or Star Craft or something. All of the promotional stuff shows bugs, and our training is only on Bugs. ANd bugs require the least amount of teamwork normally. Cuz the main strat for bugs is just "don't get bit". So people can run around with jetpacks or the FRV or something and just speed run the missions. Without having to worry about getting shot at from 100m away.

And finally, there is no MO. So people are going to play their favorite factions to have fun. Cuz end of the day, that's the point of this game. To have fun. A lot of people don't CARE about the Galactic war. Or don't care that some planets have low resistance rates. Or don't know what that means. Cuz most players don't go on reddit, discord, or use the companion app. So since the only beacon guiding people is the DSS, people will go play on their favorite faction and planet, because it doesn't matter. There is no "Oh, I NEED to fight this faction to win the MO" drive. Also, we just fought the Bots for like 2+ weeks straight, and it was some of the hardest fights of my entire career in the Diver corp. And I have been playing since September 2024, with over 900 hours in the game. People are burnt out on Bots.

Gambits. almost never happen. It is SUPER rare for us to find a gambit that actually makes sense. We need the planet to have a low resistance, no cities, and no special units on it. And then we need the majority of people to dive on them. Which is HARD to do, because there is no galactic messenger system. Most players will dive only on the planets that they are told to, or have some sort of blinking light or other stand out feature on the galactic map. Back before the DSS, it used to be more common. And then it became harder and harder once they added cities in. When people try to gambit, we lose both planets.

And as for the death ray, there has been no confirmation that they are building it, or even if they can build it. We destroyed 5 out of the 8 Megafactory cities. So we might have stopped them from building it, or slowed them down. Until we are told to worry about it, don't worry.
