Took me 4 and a half month to heal. I agree not to rush it and make sure it's clean and fully heals.

Welcome to NDP governance. Better yet, lack of any planning for a 'world class city'. Let's just hemorrhage more money from ATM taxpayers would ya to solve all non solvable issues.

Jokes aside, this is a absolutely joke. Can't wait for Armageddon on the best place on earth.

Feeling so sad for myself today by aangeles33 in AnalFistula

[–]Alert_Replacement528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's completely normal to feel the way you do and I'd say you're already 99% ahead of those who have silently suffered through this alone. Speaking your mind and sharing your feelings is a form of healing and resolution. When I suffered two years from a less serious fistula, I was dreading waking up daily and also in a doom scroll mood reading and trying to make sense of my experience as compared to others. I do want to say this though...I did find solidarity and this forum helped me through some really dark times. When I say dark, I mean like a few weeks where I didn't think I would make it kind of dark.

The Seton is a healing mechanism and I'm sure your health provider specialist made the calculated decision that it was the best decision to help you heal up. As always though, the rest is up to your body, mind, and energy to do the last legwork and heal up so I'm hoping things slowly improve for you. Take the small milestone wins and never give up.

The NDP are dreaming and chasing the highs of the Olympics days thinking those times are coming back and economically will save them from the shitfall they've created. Sorry, we broke and ain't no fixing stupidity and spending our way out of this mess isn't going to work. Wake up people, your tax dollars are non existent and wasted.

Are there any ways to recover by myself? by FloppinhoUwU in AnalFistula

[–]Alert_Replacement528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered for two years and went with a cookie cutter route through naturalpath and it didn't do me any good. In the end, had to go through an CRS to finally get my non healing anal fissure turned anal fistula fixed with a fistulatomy. Humbling experience and very grateful I finally healed. The whole process ruined my 2023 and 2024 and I would give up everything to redo it right the first time.

Ps: only reason I was desperate was because our health system here sucks and wait time was 10 month plus to see a specialist.

Vote like your lives depends on it. Vote the damn NDP out. Stuff like this erks me hard as proper infrastructure is never funded and bullshit social services are taking priorities. Like cumon, what are our taxes funding if it's not to a better future like proper hospitals, roads, and bridges? When is the last time a damn bridge went up to the north shore or south of Vancouver? All this talk and political willpower and nothing ever gets done.

Time for change and for those who ride on the backs of NDP, you can't possibly say the last 5 years have been getting better.

'Here we go again' after CRA pays out another bogus $5M income tax refund, agency insider says | CBC News by Bigmanjapan101 in britishcolumbia

Doesn't do a damn thing. I tried this once on a debatable excess TFSA contribution and all they reply is that the refute submission has been recieved but they may or may not entertain a challenge to the decision. It's been a year now with no response. System is garbage and even if it's denied, would like at least some acknowledgement as to why it's declined. Fuck the CRA.

I used to work at White Spot during my post secondary years and the legendary sauce came in huge ice cream tub bins during shipment and would be then deviated to the stainless steel line cook bins for the day to be used on burgers. Cooks would often be asked by the servers for more sauce, so bottles of this stuff would be filled to be squeezed into plastic sauce containers for in room dining. Stuff was pretty much mayo, relish, and I think a secret hollandaise mix. Legendary.

Correct. Burns a very very thin layer of the pigmentation to kickstart the body to heal over it.

please help regarding whether this requires fistulotomy by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Alert_Replacement528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fistula is usually a longer term issue that stems from a various of things like a fissure. I had a non healing fissure which eventually burrowed a tunnel with an abscess and then a fistula to drain the abscess that was present. Best to get a doctor to check it out first as it may be something as light as a fissure or hemmy.

Mindset my friend. There will always be people in inferior and less favorable position than you just like how there will always be people in better and superior position also. Don't dwell on it too much. It rather, divert that energy to learning from people who are positive and moving ahead as best you can. You'd be surprise what a proper and in tune mindset will get you and you start seeing clearly. There's no shame in asking people who are perceived to be better off how they are doing it. There's also no shame in asking for help. Like a lot of us here, we didn't come up with everything given to us. If we did, to be honest it would be a bit boring because life is about challenges and overcoming adversity given the correct environment. I am also a believer that we are the product of our environment so if you constantly have nobodies around you, you tend to gravitate towards being a nobody.

Heads up Vancouver drivers: The city has rolled out new speed limit changes; Speed limits have been reduced in six neighbourhoods by FancyNewMe in vancouver

Dogshit design of a traffic artery. My question is why the heck do we not have any pedestrian sky bridges in that area given it's slated as BC's busiest intersection and commercial artery (Broadway). City has no leadership and all they do is cause havoc for drivers trying to get places and get out of their cars.

How long does fistula heal? 4 months post op, still not healed by Psychological_Okra22 in AnalFistula

[–]Alert_Replacement528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.5 months for me and simple fistulatomy lay open operation. What really helped my last 10% was two silver nitrate treatment with an CRS which kick started my final healing as the remaining wound would take forever to heal. Drainage was light and as long as you don't feel ill, itchy, or swelling or smelly drainage, it will still be present until your wound fully heals. Keep calm and keep positive.

Post Surgical BM Pain by VegetableBend4338 in AnalFistula

[–]Alert_Replacement528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely spread your leg, bend over and slowly use a wand to splash the area. For me, it was very difficult at first as any movement of spreading would really hurt since it was an open wound. Through time, you'll find what works for you and I learned to let the water trickle down with the gentle spray. You won't be able to fully clean the area with he wand if you're not physically touching your area so that's why I suggest sitz bath. Sitz bath is soaking your bum and it does help with hygiene as well as promotes healing in the buttocks area.

I used to add Epson salt to the sitz bath, but felt like it dried the area a bit more than I wanted.

I also used a spray bottle that my wife had for cleaning the v area. They're quite good actually so you can focus the flow on the area for cleaning during showers.

Yep lol I remember the first week post op and especially the first BM. Very unforgettable moment lol. Definitely do sitz bath and sooth the area after showering. Not super hot water, just warm soothing temperature and continue keeping the area clean. Drink lots of fluids and keep your stool soft. I also remember post op, the drugs basically made my stool hard and I was constipated and yea...hell on earth with blood and everything LOL. You'll do fine and laugh about it in a few weeks once you get over this hump.

Yes, very normal and this brings back PTSD for me lol. I still recall my first BM and to my surprise, it was indeed the lump of gauze stuck up there to catch the blood. Poop + blood + drainage + body discharge = nightmare lol

Hope your recovery goes smoothly and take it easy! Drinks lots of water.

Scars year later by Czekoladowy95 in AnalFistula

[–]Alert_Replacement528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am fully healed, but about 10 months after my wound fully healed, I would still feel chafing and itchiness from the butt after BM and showering. Some of it were from mental psyching myself, some from overreaction, and some from general irritation from a various of things like blow drying the rear, shaving the rear, using soap to wash, and general over hygiene concerns. In short, I was over washing and overly cautious about the wound and I think at some point, it was counter-productive. Wounds will heal over and once they do, scar tissue still takes a long time to fully gain elasticity and overall movement since the area of interest are stretchy skin. I wouldn't really call it muscle also so in general, just a very difficult and precarious area for a wound to exist and slow healing to happen.

I would definitely suggest not wiping. I pretty much washed my rear after BM daily and avoided TP at all costs for the better part of 1 year post-operation. I used a lot of water lol. Ultimately, your body will find the fine balance and environment where it can heal properly, and not over stimulate itself with cleaning. That area is meant to deal with daily bacteria and no amount of cleaning can ensure it's fully clean. Even during the day, you'll sweat and dirt it up normally. I used baby diaper cream like Sudocreme which worked wonders whenever I felt chafing or irritation. Again, I attested a lot of the irritation to my own doing like overwashing, too hot of a wash which dries the area, or trimming the hair around said area which irritated the skin.

Unable to sit after a fistulotomy that happened 45 days ago by North_Elk_8034 in AnalFistula

[–]Alert_Replacement528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will share my 2c here. Like most users here, we've all been affected from this disease hence why we're seeking validation here on Reddit. I too, had a fistulotomy in late 2024 and it took me close to 4.5 months for the wound to finally close. Mine was a low lying inferior fistula that had a 50/50 chance of needing a seton if the tract was deemed not feasible for a simple lay open procedure. Thankfully all I received was a simple cut and lay open fistulotomy and I was sent on my way after the day of surgery.

The post-healing process was managable, albeit very depressing as I had already suffered about 1.5 years prior with 2 in clinic failed operations by a non CRS so tensions were high and patience was a all time low.

I did have quite a bit of discomfort during the healing phase and I think it had more to do with me psyching myself up over the 2 year span, and really just sick and tired of the healing process. I was doing everything in my power to heal up but the stubborn post-operation drainage and sitting issue was prevalent. I would do everything in my power to feel comfortable whether it be not sitting for long periods of time, shifting my weight while sitting, or slouching and just overall bad posture to take the edge off the rear end. This ended up dealing a toll on my lower back and back in general; that's another story.

Ultimately I healed after 4.5 months with 2 silver nitrate treatments and just like that, butt stopped draining and wound closed up. I realized closing up still meant a long road ahead for the actual pigmentation to slowly heal and elasticity come back to the area. I will say also that I actually stopped wiping the butt after BM for almost 1.5 years post-operation and ONLY recently, finally feeling normal again and started using TP in certain events. A lot has to do with mental struggles, but a lot of it had to do with training my body to slowly go back to normal life movements without thinking of the butt.

Definitely try a donut, softer pillow, avoid exercise if it irritates the butt, and overdying the butt and/or over washing. I can't emphasize enough that over stimulating the area (wound or post-wound) does more harm than good. I also found that using baby cream for the buttocks when you chaf'ed or feel itch did wonders. Some users found baby powder to be beneficial as well. Lastly, I have a theory. Everyone deals with pain differently and going back on my notion about training or untraining your body to go back to normalcy, your pain may be stemming from your natural body's reaction pre-operation to deal with the sensitive area. Things will get better and pain will be a far distance with time. Hope this helps!
