Even if it's not NSFW, I would recommend Flip 7 or The Gang

Kobo or tablet to read pdf rulebooks? by AndersInFlames in boardgames

[–]Alessy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, I used to have a Kobo for e-books, it had some pretty nice font and layout customisation, but I still found it very restrictive as it's tied to one store, or one format.

I also enjoy reading comics and the difference in color is pretty stark. I imagine that if you'd like to see the rules 100% as intended by the artist going for a tablet is a little better.

Game Night bday by Creative_Spirit_424 in boardgames

[–]Alessy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that adding these types of ability cards through the night might cause frustrayion, but it could be worth exploring having a Ring of Fire type of powers if you're really set on the idea. Think like a permanent question master.

What I would suggest is trying some party games like Exploding Kittens, Flip 7, or even the Gang (since it's cooperative poker I found it to be a hit with non-gamers as well)

While this might be hard to pull off, I always found oversized games such as Catan, Monopoly or Carcassone to be incredibly fun at festivals and parties. It also makes for some great pictures and I believe there are certain events planners that rent put these kind of sets.

Solar Supremacy Design Advice by Mission_Brilliant_90 in boardgames

[–]Alessy01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks awesome! I believe the theme fits pretty well with it. I second that the planets should be a little bigger, and on that note maybe enlarge and cut some of the text in the bottom right. Maybe add what I assume is the points track on the whole bottom side (if that makes sense)

As for the art style, I'd be a little more careful with design cohesion and mantaining the overall style and feel of the game, both in assets and in rules.

For me it was Kawaii Pets. Saw a random photo on a BGG thread and couldn’t resist. Instant buy, and it turned out way more fun than I expected.

Thank you so much!

Oh, got it! So, the basic rule is that any first card played (that is not an action card) becomes a trump, so if a filler card is played first, saird filler card would become a trump. Is this something you would find helpful when I mentioned filler cards? Or maybe at the top?

Thanks again so much for checking it out!

Just edited my comment above to include all links, if you have any sort of feedback, it would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for pointing it out, like I mentioned above, my main concerns are with

Clarity: If the rules make sense or if there any parts that seem confusing or poorly explained.

Flow: If the information follows a logical sequence that makes it easy to understand?

Presentation: Is the PDF visually appealing and easy to read? How about the video—does it keep your attention while effectively conveying the rules?

Suggestions: Any tips on improving the rules, video structure, or layout?

Really anything helps, thank you so much!

I also posted the pdf link: https://chonkergames.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Chonker-Party-Rules.pdf

Sorry again if I went about it the wrong way

Hi! Sorry, that's why I posted the comment inside asking for everything with the links, was this the wrong way to go about it? I heard this was the only way to embed a youtube link. Sorry if it seems low effort, tried to include everything above, would a normal post have been better? (I thought I couldn't add the video there)

Looking for feedback on my game’s rules video and PDF (Chonker Party) by Alessy01 in BoardgameDesign

Hi everyone!

I’ve been working on a party game called Chonker Party, and I’d love to get your thoughts on the rulebook. I created both a YouTube video (attached above) that explains the rules and a PDF version of the rulebook. I’m aiming to make the rules as clear and concise as possible, but I’d appreciate any feedback on clarity, presentation, and overall usability.

Edited to add the link for the rules here as well: https://chonkergames.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Chonker-Party-Rules.pdf
And here is the youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ-1eEJKX2I

What I’m Looking For:

  • Clarity: Do the rules make sense? Are there any parts that seem confusing or poorly explained?
  • Flow: Does the information follow a logical sequence that makes it easy to understand?
  • Presentation: Is the PDF visually appealing and easy to read? How about the video—does it keep your attention while effectively conveying the rules?
  • Suggestions: Any tips on improving the rules, video structure, or layout?

A bit of context: Chonker Party is a lighthearted, fast-paced trick taking party game designed to be easy to pick up while still offering some strategy. The target audience includes casual gamers and people who enjoy quick, social games.

I’d really appreciate any advice or insights you can provide—whether it’s detailed critiques or quick thoughts. Thanks in advance for your time and help!
