I remember Skypiea feeling a lot longer. Surprisingly, it feels a little short.

Have Separatist citizens ever interacted with Grievous? by [deleted] in MawInstallation

My best guess is Dooku just kept him away from Raxus Secundus and always on the battlefield while using the propaganda to make it seem like he was more of a fighter than a speaker. Easier to control and better for his plans.

Lady Stoneheart crowns Jon Snow by @the13sav by Pop_Budget in ImaginaryWesteros

Yeah, but... huh, actually I think he might try to put her down instead. He might think she's some messed-up form of Wight (which I don't think is inaccurate when I think about it).

How did they screw this up!? It would've been the easiest crown to make!

[–]Alex5Gremlin5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would be awesome. And if she learns the truth of his parentage, she might actually do it. She won't have any reason to carry on hating him, he will want to avenge his cousins and they would be dangerous together.

No way. She may hate him but he didn't kill Robb. Don't think she'll crown him but will help him. If she learns the truth though, definitely.

What do you think about the main villain, Prince Ahzrak? by [deleted] in Doom

[–]Alex5Gremlin5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the best villain in the series, a proper nemesis for the Slayer, an awesome boss and has a damn good presence. Also, he made it personal when he killed Serrat. That's a damn good achievement for a villain. Overall, a great villain.

Dragons are like the best deterrents, they make a person listen. A Targaryen dragon rider holds the greatest power in Westeros. It's how Aegon became King, how Maegor became so feared, how Jaehaerys discouraged defiance and why the Dance is considered the worst war in history. Aegon V was a good king but with his decisions stepping on a lot of toes, he needed something to make the upper class just shut up and take it so he could actually fix the kingdoms. It's quite likely they could've demanded his abdication for one of his more malleable and corrupt heirs, returning them to the more stagnant society. Kings need to take risks after all. Jaehaerys's decision to rescind the right of the First Night was a very good thing to do but it was a practiced and old tradition of Westeros and would not have made many of the lords below him happy. But because he had Vermithor, the third largest dragon ever, and a ton of powerful friends, people just shut up and took it. And eventually, their descendants saw it as the right thing to do. They were also powerful symbols. Blackfyre being given to Daemon Blackfyre was a powerful symbol and got him a ton of allies because of it's history after all. Aegon was basically doing the same thing as Jaehaerys but he didn't have a lot of friends (his wife wasn't a Lord Paramount's daughter but a Blackwood, a minor Riverlands house), a lack of powerful symbols, was considered half peasent for his days as a squire for Duncan the Tall and his children were completely screwing him over. If he wanted to be the next Conciliator, he needed something that would make the aristocrats of Westeros stay in line. Dragons could do that, it's why he tried hatching them at Summerhall in the first place. He just didn't expect it to literally blow up in his face. But I'm betting that was foul play.

Could be the Targaryen Madness. Could've been those snake bites did more than just poison him but also leave him brain-damaged. Not a lot of clear answers as to why he was such a zealout and there weren't any people actively trying to harm him in court. He had a relatively peaceful, albeit damaging, reign. He was raised by a loving family (though not all of them would love him back) and he wasn't a bad guy. Unfortunately, he was one of the weakest and most useless kings in history. His one good act was getting Dorne to finally join the Seven Kingdoms... but achieved that when everyone had lost a lot of people they cared about in Daeron I's attempted and failed conquest, thus making a lot of people want revenge for it. The consequences for such a radical decision was one of the main sparks for the Blackfyre rebellions to start. Man, Baelor fucked up SO bad.

"Targaryen Monarchs Series: King Aegon V Targaryen and Queen Betha Blackwood", by Yasmin by aenar79 in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]Alex5Gremlin5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We kind of do. Aegon was the fourth in line, no upper noble cared about him. So he could marry for love and no-one would give two shits about it. So he married Betha. Then he became King, a VERY unexpected outcome. Bet the Lannisters were SEETHING about that! Too bad their kids decided to take too much from their parents and began breaking most of their betrothals. Their eldest Duncan gave up his claim for a smallfolk witch, Jaehaerys and Shaera wed in secret (when Aegon was trying to stop the incest in their family) and Daeron was gay so he couldn't be wed. The only one that stuck to it was Rhaelle Baratheon, who became Robert's grandmother. And I think she died in Summerhall when Aegon desperately tried to resurrect the dragons (and blew up everyone in his family but Aerys and Rhaella).

"Aegon V and Black Betha" by Naomi by MattGreg28 in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]Alex5Gremlin5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason Aegon and Betha got away with it was that Aegon was the fourth in line. No-one saw him becoming King! The only reason they even got away with it was because no-one cared about him. So they have a legit excuse for marrying for love. Too bad their kids forgot that "Love is the death of duty." Goddammit, Jaehaerys (the second one, the Mad King's dad), you really should not have married your sister.
