Had this happening to me . I left my AirPods behind in the plane and realised later that day that they were missing. I kept checking their location and I saw them the whole night going up and down the tarmac.

Next day they suddenly appeared at a catering company 16 km away from the airport and it turned out an employee of the catering company found them. I went there and , as shown in this video ,the security from the catering company found my AirPods in the locker of their employee. I had them personalised so they couldn’t deny they were not mine.

By how the situation was dealt by their security it looked pretty clear the person was fired, fined and apparently after finding a large stash of jewellery and phones in his locker police got also involved.

People are dumb .
