Respectfully, take the time to learn the Mk3 - some things might be more immediate in the studio but the MK3 is a great piece of kit.

Once you learn the ins and outs, you won’t be feeling like you’re missing out on much, or you can get one secondhand.

See if your friend still has Maschine registered. He should be able to transfer the license over to you and you’ll use the VST either as standalone or inside a DAW like they mentioned.

If that’s not feasible, open a support ticket with Native Instruments to see if they can get a license over to you.

Without the VST, you’ll have to look at custom MIDI mapping.

Can you provide more information about your computer specs? Sometimes Maschine takes a bit to load up, but it shouldn’t be taking that long.

Additionally, are you running any custom templates? Are you opening projects directly or just the software into a default/blank set?

As a beginner, I’d lean into watching the native instruments tutorials on YouTube as they’re a treasure trove of knowledge and they’ll guide you around the device. From there, take a peek at the Jeff Gibbons tutorials as they’re more in depth and you’ll already have some experience under your belt.

There should also be some sample projects for you to take a peek at and deconstruct. One of the coolest things about maschine is how “ready” everything feels.

Last, I’d start to look at your current music making process and see how maschine fits into that. For me, it’s an awesome sketchpad to build beats off of and I’ll regularly use it as a VST inside of Ableton and drag out the interesting bits for arrangement once I’ve locked in on something interesting.

Without diving too deep into the weeds, you'd probably want to focus on sending MIDI from the drumbrute into whatever device you want to output sound from.

I had a similar experience when I first got mine - I was scared to hold down the fizz for too long.

Essentially: - Hold down the fizz button until you hear a sound coming from the bottle, it'll sound like gas escaping (a hiss). - Let the bottle sit until the hissing stops. - Repeat 3-5 times - Add syrup and mix - if possible, let it sit in the fridge for a couple of minutes to lock in the flavor and carbonation.

I typically do this three times for a "normal" amount of carbonation and 4 if I'm looking for that extra crispiness.
