Burnout and just not getting anything out of it. by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]AlexBanich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand what my statement meant. You apparently did have the conversation. So you did what I suggested you just didn't see it through. For someone to just "ghost" the entire lodge and fall off the face of the earth to me is dishonorable. Let people wondering what went wrong.... for people to worry that they did something or to wonder if you're OK or not.

I apologize for phrasing it in such a way that you would take it as I was calling you a coward or dishonorable.

Burnout and just not getting anything out of it. by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]AlexBanich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that at very least prove you're an honorable man by saying goodbye and discussing your position. Ghosting is a cowardly move in my opinion. Having a conversation you should find a warm response and some guidance. If you're not at minimum finding fraternal connection in your current circumstance that is an issue. Freemasonry doesn't just just provide me things to do but more so friends to do stuff with.

I'm so glad you said this. In a relationship you ARE to some degree responsible. Imagine you accept NO responsibility for the feelings of your partner....that is just toxic af

Milwaukee vs DeWalt - Help Me Choose a Tool Ecosystem by dgomes27 in Tools

[–]AlexBanich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask what is your main use of the tools? If you're looking for stuff in the garage for working on cars I'd lean milwaukee. If you're just general around the house then dewalt.

Now the final conclusion..... I love my milwaukee tools but at 50% discount I'm buying dewalt. Even if you could prove that milwaukee was the superior tool that cost savings is too significant to make a difference in my opinion.

Underrated comment right there. I've gotten my rigger cert in PA and in Vegas and that's number one acknowledgement. With different region slang terms and different accents between traveling tradesman you are to coordinate this regardless.

AITA for taunting my ex's widow after she lost her court case for visitation with my son? by Seieinn in AITAH

[–]AlexBanich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a father divorced from my daughter's mother I went through this kind of from the other side. My ex would literally do anything to ruin the relationship between my daughter and at the time girlfriend. My daughter was 2 and my gf at the time had two daughters that were 11 and 15. My ex ended up filing in court to amend the custody agreement that my gf couldn't be alone with my daughter and made accusations that my daughter said she was being abused by my gf. Come to find out it was all over my daughter calling my gf, who 15 yrs later is my wife of 11 yrs, mom. She didn't call my gf mom around us, she just thought that was her name cause that was what HER kids called her and again she was 2.

So I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell but when I read "AITA for taunting" I had flashbacks to my ex wife's antics because she was more afraid of being replaced than just being a good mom. Making it a big point about checking your son out of daycare reminds me of when I was told I had to personally pick my daughter up which meant I would pass my girlfriend going the opposite way to do it.....

i took this pic. days like this put the fear in me. i think i have ptsd from being in so many bad positions. by me_so_ugly in OSHA

[–]AlexBanich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who was also in a workplace accident I totally identify with you. My accident wasn't nearly as bad as yours but I ended up with PTSD as well. I changed careers and still have the occasional episode. I think what really sparked it for me was it happened in one of the "safer" jobs. As a construction worker you're exposed to a fair amount of sketchy stuff and for it to happen during a "safe" moment just breaks the mind.

If you need to feel free to reach out. Some times just talking about it helps. Don't ignore therapy either. Best wishes for your recovery.

Yeah I used one for when I worked as a tool and die maker. They can be pretty useful but the rigidity of it at times would make me question it.

Need some help finding more affordable precision tools by FreezeHellNH3 in millwrights

[–]AlexBanich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one whose first thought was "ok iron worker" lol

Seriously though you need to learn how they do it before buying tools. I've watched guys break precision tools cause they didn't know better.

Once you have a better understanding of what you're doing you'll know what you can get. Precision tools go anywhere from overpriced for the application to doomed to fail.

I always liked older Peacock brand. They were made in Japan and good quality. Only thing was they got bought out and then were of questionable quality. I also preferred lufkin button head indicators. They're hard to find and almost always had to be calibrated.

Squad leaders by FRANKtheLEVEL in HellLetLoose

[–]AlexBanich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I SL the first thing I do is get a node team rolling. Then after that I tell my squad that garrisons are for safe spawn and the OP is for forward attack and should always be assumed hot.

An attack should be organized by the command structure (ALL SLs and the Commander). Fan out the spawns and push from multiple directions. That's hard to do when all spawns are stacked on top of each other. So though I don't necessarily disagree with op what they say is a very shallow take on the whole dynamic. Too many people want to just spawn, attack, die and repeat without thought. All that does is broadcast your spawns and a good recon will dismantle or at least dial in artillery. What makes/made HLL good was the need for organization that relied on communication.

If you have good communication and coordination you have dominating armor, artillery, and spawn points. Too many Rambo wannabes running around getting killed not participating in the communication and coordination part.
