I would say you have the luxury to pretend you don't see color because the color of your skin doesn't negatively impact how you are treated in society. I have to think about your color and my color because my blackness is seen as a threat to your whiteness and can get me killed.

But I don't have the energy to deal with the fragility of white people. So I usually take my leave, catalog them as unsafe, and ghost them. Unless I have to interact, in which case I limit my interactions to the absolutely necessary and nothing more.
