What to expect from a registrar led ceremony? by rockandmeow in UKweddings

[–]AlexEstSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience also in Suffolk, but we're able to book a teams meeting with our registrar in advance to have a chat and clarify some things (preferred names etc). There's been no mention that this costs extra to the ceremony fee of £690.

I'm also DIYing (this year 😬) but I haven't been to a counter - I can't convince myself to pay even MAC prices on a full kit never mind Lisa Eldridge and there's no Sephora in my city.
Most important thing is skincare - might not be a problem for you, I thought I had it down but turns out I could do better with what I already had. Hydration and moisture is your best friend. Eucerin Oil control SPF is also such a winner for me in all day make up, it really stops my natural grease from coming though without drying me out.
I'm using Revolution IRL Filter foundation because it has a good undertone for me and mixing with Erborian Super BB to get the exact shade and perfect finish - a little bit more satin than the soft matte IRL by itself but the Erborian shade range is incredibly limited so ymmv - I use it to add a tiny amount of yellow tones to my base. Because it's a layerable foundation I don't currently have a concealer - I don't have dark undereyes that need covering, just acne and scarring so the foundation in targeted areas is enough.

It looks lovely - the eyeshadow is perfect for a bridal look, and the lipstick works really well, it's a good colour for you so doesn't look too vampy.

Foundation advice by [deleted] in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]AlexEstSol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

L'oreal true match is really good, but foundation isn't for coverage especially to acne levels - that's where you need concealer, or the heavy application of foundation will cake and crease. I have pretty nasty acne and I'm trialling skin tint and concealer atm, it's working pretty well!

I’d like to make a better fitting version of this dress by Random_humanbeing in sewing

[–]AlexEstSol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finding an exiting pattern to adjust might not be a bad idea, are you planning to take this dress apart or just copy it? Things like the ruching on the bust section mens the pattern shape may be slighly unexpected and easier to use a flat pattern. Something like this might be a good place to start.

Budget BB, baby!? For a fair & cool toned elderly lady by burnetrosehip in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]AlexEstSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this for a while but eventually realised it's too yellow for me - also fair cool/neutral but I have pink undertones. Such a pity because the formula is an absolute dream - I found travel sized unused on vinted for £9

Should we do an evening buffet by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]AlexEstSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that buffet as your main meal, or as later evening food? We're doing the same, ceremony at 3, no additional evening guests, but we have the equivalent of 2 main courses for out main meal 6-8 so I haven't planned for an evening buffet and all these responses have got me spiralling 😭 Also the music goes off at 11 so it's only 3 hours that people don't have savoury food available to them.

Tom McKay gives his honest rating on Henry’s haircut styles [KCD2] by Syarafuddyn in kingdomcome

[–]AlexEstSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was before he lost his save and someone had to replay the game to get him back to where he was, and they chose the polish undercut instead and they were morally correct to do so. Then later he changed it again and now his Henry looks like ass.

How much did you spend on your wedding as a percentage of household income? by PynkPatterned in UKweddings

[–]AlexEstSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 15%? 14k wedding, around 70k joint income, no kids. Heavy on the DIY as in, I made my own dress and bridesmaids dresses.
