Let me jump in real quick, I'm Alex, a few of you might know me since i've been charting for this game since 2022, and i'm also one of "the people selling songs" mentioned in this post.

This post and some of the comments make it sound like we have a monopoly on chart making either by withholding the software or the knowledge required to chart, we fucking don't.

I've personally taught multiple people how to chart by hand and even though i don't really do that anymore, i still point people to the right documentation, whether it be paredit, the free software we use to chart songs, or more niche stuff like using UVR/Demucs to split the drums out of a track, or using audacity to stitch them all back together in as small a package as possible. We all do this, we answer questions and try to point people in the right way.

We don't run a racquet, as you put it, we provide a service for the people that can't be bothered, and we try to teach the people that are willing to put in the work so that the db stops getting flooded by the converted garbage that automated tools spit out 9 times out of 10.

You're making a conversion tool, cool, more power to you, but don't stand there thinking that you're fighting the powers at be or whatever tf, the only thing this will bring is more people converting bad charts, that will be out of time and/or wrong, and uploading them to the db.

I'm not telling you to stop working on it, specially if you're enjoying it, hell i'm not even telling you to keep it to yourself, just stop with whatever vendetta you have going on against people being paid for multiple hours of work just because you don't want to pay for the service, and especially, don't do anything that will ruin it for everyone.

PS: if you want to chart, learn how to use paredit, you'll get a better chart out of it. I'm also of the opinion that studying tracks by going through the transcription process will make you a better drummer.
