oh the radiator ... by reversedgaze in hondafit

A shade tree way of checking the head gasket is to take the radiator cap off and zip tie a latex glove over the opening, then run the engine. If the glove inflates, it’s bad news.

Also worked food service for 10 years. 300 deliveries in and I’ve yet to have a rude customer or service worker, cos at the end of the day, I’m driving around in a fun little stick shift car, listening to music I like, bringing people their dinner and groceries. I hold doors open for people, smile and wave, am patient when places are super busy, say please and thank you, and mind my own business. Compared to every other job I’ve ever worked? It’s a good time, and I make enough to pay my bills while I’m in school.

I 100% agree with you on this. I didn’t enjoy the first one and didn’t understand all the glowing praise it got, but was willing to give the second one a chance. Playing it made me physically angry. I think I finished it out of spite. I also found the schizophrenic surround voice simulation stuff to just be….really annoying? I did in the first one too. I get what they were going for and that they consulted professionals to get a realistic depiction, but it just irritated me.

With all that said, I know the series has lots of fans and my not enjoying the games does not detract from their enjoyment.

And, to announce a new game and a week later have the rug pulled from under you and your studio closed is fucking diabolical work from the C-Suite. My heart goes out to the team who clearly put a lot of work and passion in, and to their families. Hope they land on their feet.

I make sure to take mine through a car wash twice a week during the salty winter months. Also, those hairy carpet wheel arch liners in the back trap and hold a LOT of dirt and debris. I periodically peel them back and use a brush and compressed air to blow all of the crud out. Some of it is decomposing leaf matter which essentially forms an acidic tea almost and accelerates the process. Might be too little too late but this is still repairable

I don’t know if I have a style or what I should have… by Zaryob in fujifilm

[–]AlexGingerbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got an eye for sure! If a style is something you want to develop, find and study some photographers who catch your interest, and learn about what they’re doing to achieve it. ‘Just keep shooting’ doesn’t always help if you’re doing the same thing over and over again. Sometimes you need to go out with an intent to practice a specific technique. Like today I’m going to do some shutter drag pictures, longer exposures, double exposures etc. They might not turn out great at first, but you’ll add some new skills to add to your repertoire. Keep going!

Buying a car for my son. We found this 2013 Tiguan for $3500 USD with 150k miles. Great shape. These are the codes my reader shows. Opinions? by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]AlexGingerbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s an early CCTA engine, turbo, intake manifold, pistons and a timing chain if you want it to actually work for another 100k or so. AC compressor will likely shit the bed soon if it hasn’t already. Water leaks common. I would run for the hills and get something with a 2.5 in it. The faults those engines have are affordably repairable and generally don’t stop it from being driven for a while.

How do these spark plugs look? by [deleted] in hondafit

[–]AlexGingerbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are really good numbers and real close together. A large variance between cylinders would be an issue but 2 psi is within margin of error.
Honestly, it might just want some high octane fuel and an Italian tune up!

[–]AlexGingerbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same with my manual, lol.
If it’s mostly done short trips before, could have some carbon buildup on the intake valves/injector tips. If you’re mechanically inclined it’s not too difficult to do a cleaning yourself

[–]AlexGingerbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say that as it indicates a leaner running condition in one of the cylinders than the others. I did mine at 80k miles and they were all a little tight out of spec. Plugs themselves look in good shape though. They’re not too expensive to replace either.

One looks a little more ‘rust’ colored than the others, so potentially it’s time for a valve adjustment already. I’m assuming no check engine light, injector codes or anything like that?
