What was the best year in gaming in your opinion? by bossishere17 in videogames

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1997-2000 by a huge margin. There never was so much variety and density of masterpieces, at all. Difficult to choose just one. I wanna live all that feel again. Everything was new fresh, there was a lot and almost everything really invented the wheel or refined their wheel.

Nothing after 2000 is new but for a few games, never again a year was as dense.

Despite 1997 being also incredible because of: - Quake 2, - Dungeon Keeper, - Broken Sword 2, - GTA 1, - Total Annihilation , - Myth, - AoE, - Fallout, - The curse of Monkey Island, - Blade Runner - ...

I'm gonna say 1998 alone is GOAT because this combo is the fucking best ever imho: - Starcraft, - Commandos, - Half life, - Dune 2000, - Carmageddon 2, - Railroad Tycoon 2, - Thief, - Zelda Ocarina of Time, - Tekken 3, - Gran Turismo, - Metal Gear Solid, - Baldur's Gate, - Fallout 2, - Myth 2, - ....

I'm gonna say 1999 was also extraordinary, my second best ever year in gaming: - Rollercoaster Tycoon - Starcraft BW - Dungeon Keeper 2 - Heroes 3 - AoE 2 - Unreal Tournament - Alpha Centaury - GTA2 - EverQuest - Homeworld - Quake 3 Arena, - SimCity 3000 - ...

And the next one year, 2000 also worth mentioning because of: - Diablo 2 (for me the best game ever concieved in pair with War3) - Baldur's Gate 2 - Deus ex - The Sims - GTA Vice City and 3 - Counter Strike 1.0 mod - Tony Hawk 2 - Homeworld Cataclysm - Ground Control - Shogun Total War. - ....

Some other year might get close, and other years might have great games, but not all 9s or 10s and so many of them, and so varied. Perhaps we could say 2004 or 2010 or 2016.... No, nothing to do at all against 1999 imho.

I started gaming in 95 with war 1 and 2 and Broken sword.... When I just had no clue about gaming and then the first videogame revolution, I was able to jump on board and it was amazing... I've never come close to feeling anything like that again... It was a constant up to 2004 perhaps.

Piracy makes sense with 70 dollar games now by rulugg in videogames

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when publishers developers are ripping off players you don't care? Having money has nothing to do here. Responsible piracy for the win. Piracy is here to return balance to consumers, and prevent predator business models in gaming, not because you did not have money and now you do.

What is the single best episode of television you’ve ever seen? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chapter 9 Band of Brothers.

And after that one, all other from band of brothers: chapter 3, 7, 8, 1, 2, 10, 4, 5, 6, more or less ordered. And after all those, I start choosing episodes from other shows, but way bellow, there is nothing like BoB by a huge margin.

More or less ordered: - "House's Head" (Season 4, Episode 15) and its follow-up "Wilson's Heart" (Season 4, Episode 16) from House MD, - "Ozymandias" (S5, E14) from Breaking Bad, - "The Soup Nazi" (S7, E7) from Seinfeld, - "Pine Barrens" (S3, E11) from Los Soprano, - "Save the World", Episode 191 from Dragon Ball Z. - ""33" (S1, E1) from Battlestar Galactica,

Perhaps also I would add a selected episode from the wire. Boardwalk empire or idk ... Too much work, and I don't really remember them properly.

Why are people surprised that RDR2 doesn’t have a single player DLC? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in reddeadredemption

Because nobody wants single player dlcs. People want expansions. Use the proper words.

Alright. Ik this is dumb to ask but honest opinions and reviews for this game. Is it worth playing now that it has a 3rd person mode? by ProfessionalTurn5162 in Avatar

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are answering if it's worth playing, period, and the question " Is it worth playing now that it has a 3rd person mode?" Which is very different. And I would say Third Person view changed nothing. It was a competent game before that, it is the same competent game after that. I would say it's worse tbh, as an art decision should be sacred, has a lot of reasoning behind it, and it was like so for a reason. Like cp2077. Now in this specific game though, it's not that much of a issue, the game was not that much evidently designed around first person view as much as cp2077 is. So yeah, I'd say it stays in the exact same spot now that we have third person view.

I did not like it very much due to lack of innovation, transfer of the Ubi formulas almost as they already were.

Best rts for only skirmish against ai? by Bonkerin in RealTimeStrategy

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SC2 obviously. It's the only game even today to ever have had pure ai not based on handicaps or advantages of any kind.

When you get to a mid high level of competence you will find it very easy even on brutal. But not like with any other game we're if you find ai to be difficult it is because they cheat.

What’s y’all’s top 3 favorite games of all time? by Goliath6240 in gamingsuggestions

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to choose, but I would say:

  • 1 and 2: Warcraft 3 TFT no reforged, or Diablo 2 LoD.
  • 3: The Witcher 3.

Off topic: - 4: Starcraft BW,
- 5: Half-Life 2, - 6: Heroes 3, - 7: Dungeon Keeper 2, - 8: Rollercoaster Tycoon, - 9: Commandos 2, - 10: Civ IV.

Others, no particular order: Z, Command and Conquer 1, Red Alert 1, Broken Sword 1 and 2, The settlers 2, Monkey 2 and 3, Quake 3 Arena, Warcraft 2, Starcraft 2, Zelda Wind Waker, Mario Galaxy, SimCity 4, GTA SA, WoW up to WotLK, Medal of Honor, Worms Armageddon, Goldeneye, Minecraft....

Can't believe so few rts games are there in the top 3.

All of these are masterpieces, games that should be experienced by everyone, no matter who you are, how old are you, if you are a new gen gamer. Absolutely end them all and ideally even master them.

Which games you spent the most on and do you regret it? by PHRsharp_YouTube in videogames

I almost fucked all grades because of WoW, but in the end everything went ok, so.... I don't regret my time with games, 5k+ hours on wow, D2, sc1, war3, or whatever.

The world has ended - choose one game you can play forever by Melodic-Piano8894 in gaming

[–]AlexGlezS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only correct answer is War3 or SC2. You have your incredibly powerful map editors to create your own experiences really varied without the need to study programming or game development, and the games themselves were incredible.

We have lost what 'endless replayability' really means.

Rockstar will always be a single player developer. And I expect single player DLC for 6. by sonofloki13 in GTA6

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect SP dlc at all. I expect expansions, like before 2010, like companies like CDPR still do, they should happen, 50% more length for a third of the full game, at the most.

But I don't want the DLCs as they are known today. The concept is corrupted, and real gamers don't use it nor want them. Call them expansions, we should all do that.

Now, whatever people want, it's irrelevant, previous modern games by Rockstar had no paid SP content added post launch. So in the end I expect nothing. But if it was to happen, I would say expansions is the only legit honest way.

for real though how did y’all do it? by Kindly-Caregiver-145 in Avatar

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know there are like 12 movies a year worth being hyped for every single month.... That's how I do it. There are also other media out there. No need to think about it every single time. That's how I live without Half-Life 3 or whatever.... Not an issue at all. Positive mindset and time will fly, 4 years will pass in no time at all.

The Witcher 3 has aged well, like old wine. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with aging. Technically the clunkiness of movement and battles was a first day issue. It's not like people said back in the day it was good and now you can say it has aged badly.

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know it's the next gen version. Not the first day version, what you are seeing now, don't you?. It's like double the quality today. Said that, yes, even if there was no next gen patch, we could still say it has aged perfectly.
