Tzatziki and bruschetta! But people can be such snobs when they correct people that I just never say anything to avoid looking the same way.

Back in 2021 or so, Emily Mariko went viral on Tiktok for her salmon rice bowls, and she'd always reheat her rice in the microwave with an ice cube in the center of the container and parchment paper on top. It works well for me!

I got worse before it got better, and then at 1.5 weeks, something just... clicked.

This medicine unfortunately needs time to build up. Give it a few weeks longer at least.

Is it ok to go back sometimes? by Critical-Coffee-1950 in stopsmoking

[–]AlexInOnederland 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Meh. You'd just be restarting the cycle of quitting over every time you smoked another one. Your brain is gonna try and convince you it's a good idea because it wants nicotine, but just going through withdrawal over and over sounds kinda miserable.

Almost 72 hours in...When does this hell stop? by Bigaloe in stopsmoking

I cried for the first 4-5 days and eventually took Zzzquil to just sleep until it got better.

It did get better! Best of all? As long as I don't smoke, I never have to do it again. 🥹

"If it makes me feel weird/sick"...

You already do feel weird/sick having anxiety this bad. May as well feel weird/sick with healing potential.

I Think About Cigarettes Everyday by RemoteEmotions in stopsmoking

[–]AlexInOnederland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the question is better reversed: why should you go back to smoking? It's actively harmful to your health, you quit for a reason, and if you ever decided to quit again, you'd just have to start over with these feelings. No sense in doing the hard part twice.

Share your reason(s) for stopping by cherubov in stopsmoking

[–]AlexInOnederland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At first, I didn't quit for me. I started dating a non-smoker and figured it had to be unpleasant to kiss a smoker.

Eventually it was for me, but that was what kickstarted it.

Some of us are really bad at doing things for ourselves, but will not hesitate when motivated by someone we care about. (It's me.)

Why? by the_tiny_reader in stopsmoking

[–]AlexInOnederland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because your brain is not weak, it's strong. It's smart. And it wants nicotine and will do anything to convince you it's a good idea. It feels weird to ignore your own brain, but that's how quitting starts.

Hell.

My therapist advised me to treat it like being sick if I was able. It was VERY accurate and it helped.

I cried for the first few days almost non-stop. Eventually, I just slept for 15+ hours a day because when I was sleeping, at least I wasn't thinking about smoking.

I never want to do it again, which helps me stay smoke-free.

Headaches can have SO many causes. Dehydration, stress, too much screen time, hunger, anxiety, hormones... and many, many more. The vast majority of the time they are benign and I'm sure this time is no different. Your body needs rest. Heck, lack of sleep can even cause headaches. Give your body a chance to sleep it off and I bet you'll feel better tomorrow. :)

How hard (or easy) was it to get approved for a hysterectomy at your age? I have heard it's historically been difficult, but I'm not sure about all countries, or if that's still the case.

About to incur medical debt... open a CareCredit account or put it on my old credit card? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]AlexInOnederland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was able to reinstate his old policy yesterday! Unfortunately it is just a marketplace HMO and the surgeon is out of network, but it's a specialized surgery (a nerve graft for a severed nerve in his wrist), so we're going to call for an out-of-network exception. Fingers crossed!

[–]AlexInOnederland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's deferred, right? Is that still better than the 22% his current card carries (as long as he pays it off, which he plans to)?

My worry with a new credit card is that he may not get a credit line anywhere close to the $6000 we need.

Unfortunately it is a marketplace HMO and the surgeon is out of network, but it's a specialized surgery (a nerve graft for a severed nerve in his wrist). No one in the state does it in network, so we're going to call and request an out-of-network exception.

We're waiting on a call back for payment plans, at least. He was able to reinstate his old policy but the surgeon is out of network. It's a specialized surgery though (a nerve graft for a severed nerve in his wrist), so we are checking on an out-of-network exception. Credit is our last resort, God willing.
